Illustrator is good if you can afford it. It's really the only other program I have used other then paint. I have some friends that say the Corel programs are good. They have different ones like Adobe and I think they are cheaper.

I prefer drawing in Illustrator because it's easier then in Photoshop, but I usually finish my drawings in Photoshop

I'm just bad at drawing on comps completely, I think... but today I've been practicing with ms paint.

@ Thoth: I'm not that great at it either, but I have found that if I just draw lineart and then scan it and use it as a guide it really helps. That's how I make most of my CGs.

It's a little hard to explain what I do, but I basically make vector art in Illustrator then export it to Photoshop and add in all the details of shading, special backgrounds and other details
