Decided to try this out. It seemed nifty.
The name is Shinya, and while I'm a lurker by nature, I do tend to gravitate towards forums. I'm a bit shy and it takes me a little while to get up the nerve to do much social interaction, but I shall try none the less, because meeting new people, I have learned, can be quite fun.
I have a love of writing and drawing that have been forced to be squandered lately due to an overly busy life involving school, work, and running a small local anime convention. While I've fallen slightly out of the anime scene, I do have an odd fascination with the culture it has originated from and has created. I am quite fond of Japanese rock, but generally stay on the outskirts of the fandom.
But since I have finals (my last finals before I graduate for my associates), I have to cut this a bit short. I imagine that the next few weeks will be chaos. Wish me luck!

Hello Shinya! I hope I can get you out of that lurking habit, as you make gold here by posting XD
I used to be very shy too, and still am whenever I join a new site, but I do hope I succeed in making you more comfortable ^^
I'm not much of a writer, but I do like drawing ^^ I'm very much into anime and think it's awesome you run a convention. What is that like?
Haha, I have finals this week at school too! Good luck to us both ^^

It is very stressful to run your own convention! It takes a lot of dedication and hard work. And when I say a lot, it's a bit of an understatement! You have to suffer through a lot of problems and set backs before even getting started. It's a huge hassle, but I love to do it anyway. The number of satisfied people in the end makes it all worth it, even though I can't remember much of what has gone on in the past. The first year I was severely sleep deprived, the second I had caught the con-plague from Ohayocon the weekend before and ended up with bronchitis, so I was overly medicated. We're currently gearing up for our third year and it's been crazy!
Usually when I see people saying they want to start their own con, I say "DON'T DO IT!" only because I know that it's not just a passing want. It takes a lot to get started and then takes a lot more to keep going, and in my experience, a lot of people just don't have enough of what it takes (not saying that I really do, I can't imagine what it'd be like to be in charge of a MAJOR con like Acen or the like).
It's made me appreciate the people who DO run major cons a lot more, and when a train wreck happens, I can sympathize better than maybe an average con goer. This last year at Acen, I actually snapped at a few people and their complaints. Some disasters just can't be avoided, and a lot of staffers put a lot of time and effort in order to make it fun for everyone. It's given me a lot better perspective on how something like this is run. So many things can go wrong at once and it can get very very crazy! Whew!
All in all though, thank you for the welcome! I'm so sorry for the rambling!

Rambling forgiven, dear! XD I asked for it anyway. LOL
Suddenly, dealing with my college work doesn't seem as painful as it did a few minutes ago XD;;
I wish you luck with this next convention. By the looks of things, you need it! D8

Welcome Shinya! :]
I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here, as the rest of us sneaky ones have~
Ahhh, a shy one! I was also shy when I first joined Menewsha, but I got out of it eventually. What with people sabotaging my threads (Seito. >.> LOL), having an assassin lurk over me constantly (A game~), and just alot of friends who like to lurk and use their stealth...I guess you kind of come out of the shy shell... Haha. :]
I'm sure you can come out also~ As I see you've rambled to Platty already about a convention~
Conventions have always sounded neat...although I've never been to one. Sounds like their just a pain in the rear to run them... I'd probably want to throw shuriken all around if people didn't listen to me..
But I hope you find the end product amazing. :]
And now I'm rambling! Oh dear.. XD
I shall just stop while I'm ahread..but welcome to Menewsha!
I might also advise looking over the rules a bit~ :]

Thank you for the luck wishes and the warm welcomes! I hope I'll have a bit more time to post when finals are done (my last two are tomorrow and Thursday), but working in retail around this time is incredibly hectic and the convention is in a month. Whew! I might not have time to really get into posting until after everything!

Your life sounds all too much like my own. I too am busy beyond belief... though it's more with financial and holiday things than school (I haven't gone to college yet T-T).
Of course, reading what you have written has made me think of myself. I too am shy and like to draw and write. And I'm into Japan!ese stuff!! What's your favorite band? I love Malice Mizer! Of course, I'm also into Korean bands such as Dong Bang Shin Ki and TRAX, but I don't know their songs well even though I like them a lot. I read and draw manga and love conventions.
Hold on, I'm supposed to be welcoming you.... >.> er... sorry, I tend to do that. Anyways, welcome to Menewsha! Hope your times here are friendly and fun! Good luck with your finals =3

Good luck on your Finals, Shinya! Man.. I've been long out of school and miss it terribly so!>.< I'd happily trade places with you..demo... I'd also have to go back and relearn all the things you did as well^_^;; STILL~! Grats to you for making it, and to graduate as well! many many graduations ~! ^_^
Anime convention ne.. *giggles* Man if a few friends didn't drag me to Anime Expo this year, I would have broken my chain XD Which one do you run? Even here in Las Vegas, we're trying to run one..small..and hard work.( Lots of hard work>.<), but sometimes it pays off. But I agree, like you, I've come loose of being a rabid anime fan, though I do so enjoy my manga and Doujinshi much more. (i think it was band-wagon fans that scared me off to tell the truth). Same goes for J-Rock. I'm a fan of few bands and solo artists, but not very openly about it ^_^
*patpat* And no be shy^_^ I can't bite you via intranets ^_^ The web spiders would get me if I do !:O! I do hope to see some of your art though! I would love to! ^_^
Welcome to Mene! :D *noms on*
