Everyone's got different interests, some don't have a place where they can easily be posted about on here right now.
We know the forum selection is lacking at the moment, as it's been like this since day one with barely any alteration other than the addition of Life Issues last year. We're currently trying to map out a decent revamp, where we'll switch a few things around, add some new options and so on.

So what I'd like you to do is suggest forums that you personally would use if we created them, to give us an idea of any that we've forgotten, and hopefully give some sort of indication as to whether some categories need to be introduced at this time, or whether there just isn't enough interest yet.

The ones that are mentioned the most, we'll do our utmost to find a place for :)

The Dharma Initiative support hotline. XDDD

No, really though. One that has been suggest a few times was a Technical/Technology Forum. One where people can talk about upcoming technology, coding, new software, etc.. The closest we have to it would be computers/video games. Which sadly, is more over-run with WoW and other computer/video game topics.

I always thought a non site related question and answer forum would be niffty. I mean it would be differant from Life issues since I'm sure most questions wouldn't be of pressing importance. And I don't think random questions could fit in the General discussion since most of the time, once the question was answered conversation would die off...

I like Geisha's idea.

Over the time here on Menew, I've found my self wanting to ask a question, and I've always wanted to ask it on menew if only because of the easy communication.

It might also be a good tie in to a trivia forum- or something akin to it.

I've also been wanting a place like this since I joined here. ^_^

Yes. A place where people can ask for help, but not have someone else do their homework for them. Hell, I'd be there all the time trying to get people to teach me math. ^^;;

As for my ideas, I'd like to see the art forum(s) all one and renamed 'Artisan Crafts' or something. Where you can show off more than just pictures you've drawn, but show off necklaces you've made and sculptures and photography.

Or maybe 'Shutterbug central' could be an art subforum for people who are addicted to their cameras. Who like to take tons of photographs and videos. People who would like to get into careers revolving around those things. The possibilities are endless.

Other things I'd like to see places for:

- Tutorials/DIY (I realize there's a listing for them, but I mean a place to post them for other users.)
- Pet talk (Because not everyone wants to post in the occasional pet topic in the GD. Or maybe it should be a subforum of the GD.)
- Learning center (A place where you can ask questions that don't relate to the website and have them answered.)
- Culture and traditions (Where you discuss/ask about other cultures, traditions, etc.)

I'd like to see something similar to a religious forum, but maybe instead of it just being about religion, it could be a 'Spiritual' forum, for discussions about divine beings (Gods of all religions), religious ceremonies, and perhaps even supernatural occurrences.

A subforum addition I'd like to see to the roleplaying forum would be a discussion subforum. Where you can discuss techniques, share roleplaying nightmares of purple prose and Mary Sues, etc. Because those things just don't seem to belong in the GD, and they don't seem to belong in the OOC subforum either.

I'll contribute more later if I can think of any.

I would like to see a pet forum, like Insane Cricket suggested. I can't imagine it would be that active but I would definitely post there.

Also a fashion forum.

Couldn't fashion go under art though? As a subforum? Or as a craft. Hrm, maybe that does need its own forum.

I like the idea of a fashion forum, definitely.

I think a Lifestyle/Fashion forum would be best instead of lumping it in with Art... :D

Then we could talk about fashion and cooking and trends all in the same place.

I think this is somethinging that is always needed. I know whenever I had some misc. questions while I was still on Gaia, it would always be a help as threre are bound to be people who know the answer ;)

I think that would be a really good idea, and maybe put it as a subforum in the non-Menewsha related Q&A forum.
(and I'd love to be able to help out with any maths problems ;) coz I'm such a nerd like that  No, serous, I do a A Level math, so even if we don't end up with a homework forum, just come to me. I'll sort you out ;) )

I agree with the Fashion/Cooking forum.
There have been a few times where I've wondered about stuff like hairstyles. xD And it'd be fun to join in discussions about things like lolita fashions.

This idea was brought up before, but then it was debated because it seemed too much like a Menewsha version of Google, promoting more spam.

An education forum would seem pretty beneficial, that's where the homework help ideas and such should go. I also like the lifestyle forum suggestion, a place to talk about cooking, politics, and day to day topics that are more serious for the General Discussion forum, but not as serious as the Debates forum is.

It's good to see that our current WIP for a re-shuffle is pretty much on track, as much of what's been suggested we already have down :)

Keep the suggestions coming though!

I really like the idea of a fashion and food forum. :3
It's one of the main things I look at on other forums.

Also, it would be nice if there was a humor section. Somewhere we could post jokes and funny youtube videos. :'D
You could disable the gold received for posting in that forum. That way, people don't end up just copy and pasting large jokes. x]

I really don't think that'd be much of a problem here. Maybe with newbies, but they'll spam anywhere, the questions forum won't be the exception.

I think it would be handy because there are times when I just don't know which links to click when looking things up on Google. Sometimes the real answer to a question can take hours to find. Sometimes you just need to ask other people for help, but randomly popping up in a crowded hangout thread just to ask a question seems like borderline spamming if you're not already a member of that thread.

Edit: I'd also like to see an 17+ forum. Where it's safe to talk about mature themes without worrying about the younger users on the site. Perhaps make it so only those seventeen and older can actually view the content. I'm not sure how you could get proof. I guess for most people it could be through a credit card number or something like some sites do, or have them take a picture of themselves with their ID perfectly visible.

*also enjoys the idea of both learning and homework assist forums* And the idea of splitting the computer discussion forum (for coding and the like) from the computer/video games forum.

As far as the mature forum--if that was feasible, I'd love to see it.

A Non-Mene Q/A forum; is it really any different from them coming to spam the GD? Or anywhere else? Either they understand the rules and don't spam, or they don't--I don't really think that they'd be more or less likely to with the addition of a forum like this.

Maybe they would, though.

There wouldn't really be any way to have a mature forum and keep younger members out, people don't always put their real age when they sign up for forums, and photographic proof with an ID wouldn't work because kids could ask any of their older friends for a picture as we don't know what people's real names are. There might be another way around it, though I'm not sure what to be honest, but there's not really anywhere on here where more adult discussions aren't allowed, they just need some warning in the first post so people know the content is of a mature nature.

It's something that we can put on the back-burner and have a think about though.

That sounds like a really good idea.
I'm taking a Comparitive Religions class next semester, and I think I would like to be able to talk about my opinions without other people thinking I'm trying to "ram my beliefs down their throat."

Most of the subforums that I had wanted to suggest were already mentioned, so I'll just say that I support the ideas that other users have mentioned. :>

I was also thinking about a subforum or something for shops/services that don't sell either art, banners, breedables, or Mene items. =O I noticed that we didn't have such a place from the Pirates vs. Ninjas game, where we were asked to open a shop that offers various pirate/ninja services.

Stuff under here could be a shop that does fortune-telling, numerology, and etc. I can't think of more examples right now, but I hope you get the general idea. ^^;; Although, I'm not exactly sure that it should merit a subforum of its own, but at least a place for these kinds of shops/services would be nice. :3

Just my two cents~ I probably have more suggestions, but I can't think of any other ideas right now. ^^;;
