There's a GSA conference in San Fransico in December, GSA clubs from all over the state are getting together.

Oh, I'm in St. Louis, my highschool has one (I'm in 8th grade  ) It's just that I'd wish my middle school did because a lot of people need to know about stuff and stop seeming so butt hurt. It's probably very abnormal for a middle school to have one, I bet.

The club is taking BART, (Bay Area Rapid Transit) which is like our subway, to SF. I've got plans already that day, I can't go. XP

Yeah, I wouldn't expect the middle schools to have a GSA. I think it would upset a lot of parents (I know the high school one for my district stirred up quite the hubub).
Do you mind me asking which school district you're in?

Ah. So you're *in* St. Louis xD
I was in the Francis Howell District. My school had kids from the boonies, y'know, New Melle and Foristell and all that. So we had a lot of those parents upset. And a few from O'Fallon and St. Peters, but not nearly as many.

Aah, I see. I don't see how parents get so upset about that stuff, since it's not really their business. When did you live here?

It's the idea that "we're telling people that 'sinning' is okay" and "we shouldn't be encouraging that kind of behavior [being openly gay] acceptable."
There was a LOT of staff opposition as well (unfortunately), but teachers that acted out were, luckily, reprimanded pretty quickly. I don't think there were any staff that were "indifferent;" either strongly supporting or strongly opposing.
I graduated from high school in 2006 and I'm going to college in Rolla now.

At my school, I'm sure there are parents that are upset about the GSA, but as long as there precious baby isn't in it, they'll just send them along to the Christians Campus Connections Club and hope for the best.

My mother was INFURIATED when my brother participated in the Day of Silence. He's not a member of the GSA (right now), he's straight, and when I was in high school, I did DoS for THREE years and was a GSA member for two (president for the second year even!), but she didn't peep at me.
I was so angry that she was so two-faced about it. But then, her problems are deeper than that--currently she's trying to blame my brother's "liberal education" for my brother's realization that she's absolutely crazy (thus prompting him to move out and live with my father full-time). She's running out of things to blame, really.

@Keyori There are always going to be people like that in the world, who think they're right 100% of the time and blame everyone else. At least your brother removed himself from that situation.

Yeah. She used to not be that way, but something happened when she gave birth to my brother. It went downhill from there (my parents divorced when my brother and I were 9 and 4, respectively).
I figured her out before my brother did, though. I knew by the time I was in 7th or 8th grade that she was crazy (just not to the extent that she is). My relationship collapsed with her when she started living with an alcoholic (I was too young to know that he was an alcoholic or recognize the signs that are obvious to me now). She listened to him whenever he suggested that my brother or I needed to be beaten because we had been "disrespectful to her" (even though it was usually because he was pissed off at us and not her). I finally was able to move out for good in 10th grade. At the time my brother had no idea why I could "move out and be so cold to her" (I avoided talking to her at all costs, and still do), but now that he's a high school junior and basically going through the same thing (minus the alcoholic boyfriend, she's alone now), he's much more keen to what was going on.
At this point, as well, my dad is also much more aware of how bad she's gotten. When I was trying to get out, he was still giving her the benefit of the doubt (by the time I got to move out, my dad purchased a firearm just to defend himself from her psycho skitzo boyfriend, who was also an alcoholic). He knows now not to try to get my brother to "make up with her" like he did with me.
I have to give my brother credit though, he still visits her every other weekend. I don't even visit every time I'm in town.

Oh my gosh! It's good you got out of there. Maybe she got into one of those mental states that happens after pregnancy (I can't remember what it's called. Puerperal psychosis? Well, your mom's case isn't totally batshiz, so no.) It's good the drunk boyfriend's gone, too, otherwise who knows what kind of stuff he'd do to make it even worse.
