I just found this old picture of my parents from when they were dating and it makes me sad to see it. :(

Why does it make you sad? D:

Whenever I see pictures of my parents before they had children, I just think "Hell, my mom was thinner than I've ever been! oAo" It's ever funnier when it's about my grandfather, "Why are their eyes red, their skin green and the sky yellow?!" And better when it's the rest of the family "You call this a photo, or a daguerreotype?" :insane: It seems my family has always liked to take photos, because there are many hidden in some boxes my mom keeps... oAo

My dad is dying, he has cirrhosis of the liver, and he....he's a very different person than he was when I was a little girl. He's mean now and bitter and unhappy.
In the picture, he looks like the person from my good memories of him. He is healthy there, and his eyes are bright and happy. I just miss him being like that. We don't talk hardly any more, and when we do its mostly small mean conversations like
Dad: "You're such a pain in my ass, Christa."
Me: "I know I am."
Anyway...I do love pictures. And I think that about my mom too lol. I just don't like some like that one that make me sad. I made that picture into a pencil drawing last year for my parents anniversary, it was a lot of work, and I've barely been able to stand looking at it since I finished the drawing.

I see, it must be very hard to keep that sadness inside like that :( But on the other hand, that picture is part of your history, in a way. It lets you evaluate your current reality, just like you did now. Now, look at the happier ones, not everything is sadness. Brighter days there were, and brighter days there will be. I know, it sounds cliche and even cheesy, but it's something bound to happen if you keep going on. Ever heard of Paulo Coelho? He once said that if you want something with all your will and heart, the universe will conspire for it to happen. I say it's just attitude. If you don't want him dead, then there's something about him that you still enjoy, no? :O

Oh Kit i am sorry, i lost my grandmother to colon canser in 2006 and he still loves you even tho he may be bitter just give him some time it may be hard for him like it is for you

Sometimes (very rarely) he is like his normal self. Like, we look pretty much exactly alike, so we went out and bought matching sunglasses. XD; I tried to get him to die his hair red like I have mine, but that didn't fly. :lol:

Zelda:: I had to "deal" with his "death" when I was eight. He got sick in 1998, and that's what I had to do, because he was supposed to actually die within 6 months. That's when I really stopped being a kid pretty much, because seeing your father die slowly kind of takes the whole carefree happy child thing away. I try not to think the way I was thinking last night very much any more, because...even if he isn't himself, at least we still have him here. If that makes any sense. >< I mean...my life could be so much worse.
And I'm sorry about your grandma. :( My aunt passed away suddenly on the 1st of January...and that was so hard to take. I hate death.

My grandfather was given 6 months.

It's been 7 years, and he's still here with enough energy to make our lifes impossible with his bitter attitude. So you can guess, I don't believe in calculated lifespans anymore.
