"Hell if I know..." Seth said, listening carefully for any other sounds of whatever it was that was out there. After a while, the teen thought the absent of sound was now more frightening than if he could hear more, wishing for anything other than the horrible silence that overtook the school once again.

He wasn't about to re-move the book case and peak out to find out if whatever it was, was still out there, so he took a seat. By the time an hour had passed still nothing came of it. "Should we even consider leaving?" The teen asked, more so thinking out loud to himself. After all this time, he didn't want to risk it only to become some alien creature's meal.

"I don't think so." Said Lex he didn't want to get eating or whatever was happening to the other people in the school. He thought that he may as well make himself comfortable so he sat on Seth's bed

After a while Seth ended up moving quite a bit closer to Lex. He'd taken a chair and set it in front of the bed, sitting on it, like he had when they'd been in Lex's dorm. "There has to be a way out of here," the young man sighed. He tipped his chair back onto his two hind legs, allowing it to fall back to the floor before he could fall over in it.

It was silent for a while and the teen didn't have much to say, or do, for that matter. He started to stare at Lex, almost trance-like, before leaning forward and setting his hand on Lex's cheek. Seth nearly fell forward out of his chair as he did, then kissed him.

Lex pulled away Seth who had just kissed him. He looked at Seth who had returned to the chair "it's not that he didn't like the kiss it just felt odd" Lex explained to the boy

Seth's smile was just short of a grin, yet, he understood what Lex meant. "Sorry," He apologized, eventually getting up from his seat and walking around his room, wondering what there was to do. The teen was growing tired, but not wanting to kick Lex off his bed, he simply pulled a blanket into a corner of the room. "I might goto sleep.." He mentioned.

Seth hadn't fully fallen asleep, but had managed to get slight rest. He was too edgy from the earlier scare of a creature being in the hall to really fall asleep. When he got up, he looked to the bookcase. "I think it should be safe to go take a look..." Seth said, getting up to move it. "If there's nothing out there, we should go find something to protect ourselves with, y'know?"

"Yeah i think we should" Lex said moving over to the bookcase. He moved the bookcase away from the door and slightly opened the door. He liked out in to the corridor and saw nothing. Lex looked around to Seth and said "There nothing there"

"Thats weird," Seth said, peeking out himself as if he'd only believe it if he saw with his own eyes. He slipped out the door and looked around further, and there really was nothing to be seen.

"Let's go then, before whatever it was comes back." Seth figured he'd head back down to the cafeteria, there were knifes and even a crow bar there, he knew. "Oh, yeah.. Did you want to goto your room first?" The teen asked, incase Lex needed anything.

"Alright," Seth said. When they'd reached the cafeteria he seemed overly cautious, turning the lights on again, as they'd done their habit of mysteriously turning off after they last left. The teen looked around, making sure the coast was clear, then hopped over the counter and into the kitchen. He waited for Lex to come with him.

The young man was already beginning to tie a couple knifes to his belt, and grabbed up a crow bar, which he handed to Lex if he wanted it. Seth looked around and picked up a metal baseball bat he'd left there days before, something he'd gotten and forgotten about from the gym at one point. The teen didn't know what they were up against, but would rest a bit easier now that they were armed - if their poor attempt at weapons would even stand a chance at whatever it was that lurked the schools dark halls.

"There's a door leading up to the roof, I never tried it before because the lights don't work up there, and my flashlight always dies out - like some force is stopping all the electricity. We could try there..." Seth said, although the fact that something around the roof stopped all electric items from working didn't reassure him. "I mean, it's that or sit and wait."

Lex took the crowbar from Seth and said to him "Lets go see what this thing is." Lex headed for the door he stopped and waited for Seth to follow behind him.

Seth agreed, following Lex out. There were no signs of the creature in the hall ways, so they headed to the door to the roof the teen had mentioned. A rickety staircase led up to it, disappearing as it did into the dark. Although the rest of the school was in prime quality, the staircase looked like it would break with heavy weight.

The teen gulped and carefully walked up the stairs, slowly going up into the pitch black. He could hear shifting up there and held the baseball bat ready, afraid for what might pop out at him. A loud screech much similar to the one they'd prior heard in the hall came up from the top of the stairs, and they began to shake. Seth, startled, tried to hold on and keep his balance, but ended up falling backwards and into Lex.

The young man quickly scrambled to his feet as they ended up back at the bottom of the stairwell, helping Lex up as he did, and preparing for whatever sort of horrendous creature was up there to come down. The staircase shook until it came off its hinges, falling. Seth jumped back to avoid being hit by the falling metal structure, and further awaited some sort of attack from the creature. But, again, there was just silence. He could make out no movement in the darkness, and the creature was making no such attack. Seth swore to himself quietly, the anxiety killing him. "It's playing mind games with us!"

"Yeah i think it is" Lex said after recovering from the fall. "Whatever it is?" He put his foot on the first step and nothing happened so he began to climb. He held on tighter to the crow bar as he climbed up higher. He was ready to do whatever it takes to get rid of this alien creature. He would even revel his secret if it help to get rid of the creature and save everyone.

"Watch out Lex!" Seth shouted, the creature swooping down from up in the shadows, just above their heads. The teen ducked and then turned quickly, in case it came passed again. Yet, when he turned, he was horribly frightened by the thing in front of them.

It had long, bat like wings, attached to its furry arms. Claws protruded from its hands, although it appeared only to have three fingers. It had a stubby, yet sturdy, sharp beak, and behind it laid layer after layer of pointed teeth, perfect for such a carnivorous beast. It was taller than both of the two boys combined, and stood on long, hawk's legs, its talons now digging into the solid tile floor beneath it.

Seth stared into its eight, glowing eyes, nearly dropping his bat in disbelief. "What.. the.. hell.." is all he could manage to allow to escape his mouth.

Lex saw the creature. He and Seth were so close they practically touching. The creature let out a defining screech with this Lex took hold of Seth hand and pulled him up the stairs and away from the creature. They were a floor from the roof and there was a door. Lex opened the door with his free hand and ran still pulling Seth behind him.

Seth followed with Lex the best he could, although he was almost being dragged as he tried to catch his footing. When they made it through the door the teen quickly closed it behind him, not daring to look back towards the creature.

They continued up another set of stairs and out a second door, which allowed them up on and out to the roof. Seth looked up and could see the moon, but the school seemed to have some sort of dark, barely transparent barrier around it; probably part of what forced them in. The teen went over to touch it and his hand stopped on it, as if it were solid concrete, proving they couldn't escape from the roof.

He ran back over to Lex and stood stationed at the door of the roof, ready to hit the creature if it ever made it passed the two doors and to where they were. "Thanks Lex, you saved me back there," He said, although he was still fearing for both of their lives - they weren't out of it yet.

"Thats ok. At least we know what is making the students and teachers disappear." Lex said. He was scared this was nowere for them to go. If they wanted to get away they would have to go though the door they had came though. However if they did they would have face the creature again Lex did not want to do that.

Seth wasn't sure if he was so fond of knowing what had been making everyone disappear - especially with such a high chance of them being next. Some people would have preferred to have their curiosity satisfied, but in this case, the teen wished he didn't know. Thinking back to see that creature stand there tall drilled a deep fear inside of him, and he couldn't even imagine being alone right now. He looked at Lex for a second, greatful that he had his company, as standing out here by himself would have been unbearable.

Seth took a few steps away from the door, it'd been long enough, and whatever that thing was that was out there hadn't yet tried to break through. He didn't think it would, but the teen also knew although the roof proved a place to hide from the creature, it wasn't somewhere they could stay for long. "Maybe.. we should.. wait a while longer, before going back down.." Seth said, slowly admitting the inevitable conclusion they'd both came to.

"We have to..." Seth said, sadly. He walked over to Lex and gave him a hug, as if to say 'in case I never see you again.' The teen opened up the door on the roof slowly, half expecting something to lunge out at them. Thankfully, nothing did.

The moon light lit the passage between this door and the next, yet it still left a lot of shadows to the imagination. He slowly walked down towards the only thing separating them from the creature. Just as Seth was about to open it, the monster hit the door from the other side, leaving a huge, dent in its metal. The teen jumped back, thinking the door was going to break down; it didn't. He looked back up towards Lex and the roof, ready to retreat up to there.

"Lex!" Seth shouted, keeping a watchful eye on the door, the creature hitting against it again - it was about to give. "Lex, I'm going to open the door the next time it hits. I'll try to distract it.. But when it comes flying through, can you be ready?" He asked. They didn't have much time for Lex to respond as it hit the metal door again. One more impact and it would be blown completely off its hinges. You could hear the beast's shriek. Seth put his hand on the handle, he was shaking with fear. He readied himself to swing the door open.

Lex raised the crowbar ready to the creature when it struck. He was shaking slightly but that was because Lex was getting a thrill out what was about to happen It's just like when my 'lunch' runs aways He thought. Seth reached for the door. He opened it but nothing happened. The creature did not come busting in ready to kill them. It was just silently stood at the door as if he could come in.

Seth was amazed that the creature did not attack so swiftly as they'd expected. In his confusion, he was too shocked to take any swing at it, and further didn't understand why it wasn't lunging at him. The teen slowly backed back up the stairs to the roof, and stood beside Lex. He watched the creature follow slowly, step by step, although it kept its distance.

"I don't understand..." Seth said, wondering why it wasn't attempting to rip their throats out this very second. He looked at Lex, as if expecting some sort of explanation or theory he couldn't possibly have.

Lex looked at the creature and then around the room for anything that hadn't been there before. Then the idea hit him it's the moon He thought. Lex looked at Seth and said to him"Maybe it's the moon doing this. Maybe it subdues the creature."

Seth nodded, as if in slight understanding - although in all actuality, he couldn't even begin to comprehend how such an idea worked. "I.. Should.. Should we still kill it?" He asked, hesitatingly. "Even if its calm now, it is the reason everyone is gone, right? I mean, look at those teeth..."

Seth -- who had previously been considering some sympathy for the creature - was now filled with rage and discontent towards it, recalling all his dead friends, all the people it must have killed. The teen rushed forward, swung the baseball bat he'd brought along; the bat swiftly connected a blow to the beast's head.

There was a sickly cracking noise as the creature stepped back, cocking its head slowly. It let out another screech, however, it was much softer than its prior ones; this call was out of pain. Although it'd calmed much from the moon, it wouldn't refrain from fighting back completely, or further defending itself. The feathered beast chased Seth up the stairs and out onto the roof. Seth, just narrowly avoiding its beak as it striked out at him, pulling out one of the knifes from his belt, looking for any opening to stab at it.
