Though all this was frozen with fear. He could move but when he saw the creature ask Seth something inside him clicked and he attacked the creature with the crowbar he had. Lex mustered all the strength he had and hit the creature in the head with the crowbar. With that fataul blow to the head and the creature fell to the floor. It was silent.

Seth looked at Lex, his heart pounding faster than it ever had. The rush of adrenaline was still coursing through him, as was blind fear. The teen stepped beside his friend, and slowly he poked at the beast to see if it was still alive. He turned its head slowly, and it was not; Lex's hit had indeed killed it.
Seth looked out around them, out onto the moonlit roof, to the black barrier surrounding it. Despite the creature's defeat, it was still stuck in an eternal night, and the shadowy barrier still existed. Seth grabbed Lex's arm and without further word ran passed the creature's corpse, out the broken door, down the stairs to the hall they'd been in before this all happened. Seth kept running until he couldn't anymore. Out of breath and overwhelmed the teen fell back against the wall, sliding down it till he sat on the floor, now letting go of Lex.
When Seth had calmed himself down and caught his breath, a thousand questions began to flood his thoughts. A thousand more questions then he could ever get out at once, that could ever reach his tongue and leave his mouth in time to satisfy his mind. Instead, he asked what he considered the most important: "Lex.. are you OK?"
Seth could have asked any other he considered of high priority, like what the hell was that thing, or why the darkness hadn't gone away, why they weren't free from the school. Was there more of them? Where did they come from? They were all things that seemed to claw, scream at his brain, things that felt like they'd never stop until answered. What seemed to eat away at him worst of all was why was he still alive, why, out of all the people, all of his school mates and peers, was he one of the last left.

Lex ran to keep up with Seth. When they had finally stopped Seth asked Lex something and Lex's answer was "I'm not sure." After Killing the creature and seeing it's blood Lex was finding it difficult to keep in his hunger for blood. He moved closer to Seth and said "There's something i want to tell you." Lex was scared once he told Seth he would ran away or worse try to kill him.

Seth raised an eyebrow, he couldn't help but feel that Lex had been hiding something more. But he disregarded such a notion, grinning slightly at Lex's flattery. At first, it hadn't felt like the time to be thinking about having kissed, with the horrific events that'd been taking place. But, it soon became the perfect thought, Seth wanting nothing more than to be close to someone; he'd felt so alone in this school before meeting Lex.
"If thats true," The teen said, rising to his feet, "you owe me another kiss."
Instead of waiting expectantly, Seth started to walk down the hall, remembering to take caution for any other possible predators that could still be in the school. "...After we find somewhere safer to stay, anyway."

"I guess i do" Lex said following Seth down the corridor. He knew that the kiss being the best in his life wasn't exactly true but there was something inside him that really did enjoy the kiss and he wanted to explore that. He moved closer to Seth. His hand brushed against Seth's. He looked at Seth and smiled "So were are we going to go for that owed kiss?" Lex asked

Seth wished he could answer Lex's question with some place nice, or even what he currently considered equal to it: somewhere outside of the school. Of course, he couldn't. As Lex's hand brushed against his own, he grabbed it, holding it loosely at first. The teen kissed his friend's jaw lightly - it wasn't much more than a quick peck.
Seth didn't have time to keep his head in the clouds just yet, or to romanticize with Lex, neither of them really did. The chance of something coming after them felt that much more intense, so much more real. It was still threatening, a replay of how they'd just faced a terrible beast going through Seth's head, and then how they could probably expect more like that one. Yet he didn't want what he considered possibly his last experience with anyone to be wasted just because of this over looming fear.
Seth pulled open a door that appropriately read 'STAFF,' in neat, print letters. He had to let go of Lex's hand as he walked over to a table in the room they'd just entered, picking up a teacher's keys and locking the door behind him. The staff room had rather decent decor, furnishings as well as a mini kitchen. It was a fair place to hide out for now, and was probably one of the more nicer rooms in the school.
Placing a hand on Lex's chest, Seth smiled. "That kiss you were talking about..." He mentioned, his voice a bit more hushed.

Seth's hands moved around to Lex's back, pulling him all that much more closer to him. He hadn't wanted the moment to die out, or even to let it, yet the all too familiar saying of, 'all good things come to an end' managed to sneak into his mind. As if on que or by cunning coincidence, near inaudible screams emerged from the hallway. Inaudible, yet, certainly human.
Seth pulled away from the kiss, but didn't pull away from Lex, till the screaming grew louder; closer. "Someone else is here?" The teen asked, it was however a rhetorical question. Although the school was quite vast, he couldn't imagine how both him and Lex could have missed another person being here. He took the staff room key's he'd previously locked the door with, now unlocking it, daring to look outside to see who it could be. Whoever it was, was panicking, their latest yelp sounding something like 'help me!' but their words were slurred and gargled in their own fear.
The person was an older, middle aged man, and he'd ran passed the staff room door just in time for Seth to grab him, pull him into the room with them to safety. The teen didn't get a chance to catch a glimpse of whatever this man was running from, as the man pushed and knocked him over in self defense. He must have thought Seth was one of the monsters. The man started to open the staff room door, to run from them too, without even giving them a glance to realize Lex and Seth were just students. Before he got anywhere, though, you could hear his horrified scream as whatever was on the other side of the door bit into his arm. Seth quickly got up and tried to pull him into the room once again, fighting with the creature's grip on him, he looked at Lex for assistance; to help pull this man in.
Together they'd managed to pull the man through the door, and they all fell over as they did. Seth quickly got up, however, slammed the door shut and locked it. The creature on the other side made no fight against it; it wasn't trying to get in and it wasn't making any noise despite its loss of prey. It was odd, but they had other things to worry about, like the guy's wounds.
Now having a chance to get a better look at the man, Seth recognized him to be one of the biology professors, one he'd never been particularly fond of, but now sympathized for in their current situation. The professor's arm was nearly completely torn off from the monster, and he had gashes in his side, blood staining his wrinkled white dress shirt. Seth wanted to ask the man a few questions, like if he knew of a way out, or what had been chasing him, but he was in a near delusional state and could only speak gibberish. This did prove one thing, however: whatever the thing they'd beat early was, there was more like it in the school still.
Seth looked around the staff room quickly, but there was nothing that would even remotely take care of the professor's wounds, and the teen was certainly no paramedic. He knew there were first aid kids, and a nurse's office else where in the school. But even if they left the staff room and went out into the hall where those monsters lurked, the man wouldn't survive their trip back. He was bleeding out quickly, it was inevitable that he would die here.
As everything sunk in, Seth didn't have much to say. "What do we do..." Is all he could mutter, knowing really there was nothing they could do for the dying professor, except maybe hope he got a proper burial if they ever got out of the school.

Lex looked at the man, he did not know him but the blood gushing from his arm was very strong. It was a good thing that Lex had certain amount of self control or he would have jumped at the man drained the rest of his blood. Lex thought to himself you can do this. While Lex was still human he had had a some medical training and he knew what do with the wound on the man. Lex moved over to the man and looked at his arm. Lex then looked around the room "What can we use to stop the bleeding?" Lex asked Seth who was stood pale and frightened. Lex continued to look around the room he wanted not to look on Seth but as Seth had not answered his question he said to Seth again "What can we use to dress that wound and get the bleeding under control?" Seth however still did not answer so Lex thought this is stupid With this he pulled of his shirt and began to rip it so he could attach it to the man.

Seth, snapping out of his apparently trance like state, went to go help Lex with the bandaging. He'd do the same with his own clothes if there wasn't enough material to help contain the wound. "Theres a medic office.. nearby," Seth mentioned, crouching down over the professor's corpse to help apply the makeshift bandages.
When they were finished, Seth opened the staff room door. Every fiber in his body was screaming at him not to open it, knowing what kind of things were out in the halls, but if they didn't go to the nurse's office and get proper medications, their bandages certainly wouldn't suffice. He looked out and didn't see anything, then leaned back over the professor. "We have to carry him.. You take that side, I'll take this one.." Seth said, grabbing the man's legs, read to pick that half of him up. They'd hopefully be able to make it to the nurse's office before anything caught up with them.
Seth still didn't think the professor could ever make it. And although he wasn't always the best at putting himself in other people's shoes, if it were him in that situation he'd want whoever was there to do their best to save him, too. Yet he had to admit, it could be him in that situation, as they were risking their lives to attempt to save this man's.
They'd ended up making it to the nurse's office without any trouble from the creatures. They propped the man up on a table, and Seth started to dig through some of the drawers for anything of use. First, he passed Lex a first aid kid, since Lex seemed to have a better idea of what he was doing than Seth had. The professor had already passed out from the blood loss or perhaps even shock of his own situation, and was looking deathly pale. His chances were very slim.
Seth had brought what he believed to be mild pain killers and some fresh gauze over to the table, things he'd found in the drawers. It wouldn't be much for the professor, but it was better than nothing. The teen still couldn't remember the guy's name.
As Seth was removing some of the bloodied shirt Lex had used as a dressing for the man's wound, to replace it with the fresher, more suited bandages, the professor came to. He sat up, grabbing Seth's shirt collar with his remaining hand. Seth tried to jump back, mostly out of surprise, yet with the tight grip the man had he wasn't able to. The professor started shouting about the monsters, about confusing subjects that made no sense, and it all began to slur into more gibberish. In all of that, though, he kept repeating "room 309."
The professor's grip slowly loosened on Seth's collar and he let go, falling back. All of his movement had made him lose what remaining life force he had left, and there, in the nurse's office, he died. The teen felt rather shaken, not even comprehending of what they should do next. He backed up into a nearby wall, then looked at Lex. When his head started to clear up from the entire ordeal, he knew where they should go: "Room 309"
Seth had repeated the professor as if his mix matched words had been directions. They could have easily just been the memories or insane babbles of a crazy, shocked and fearful man. But the teen decided to take them with significance, it was not as if they had anywhere else to go. "We.. should goto that room."
Seth wanted to believe that, that would be their way out of the school. Part of him also knew, though, that if it had been, the professor would have been able to leave. Yet, he felt the pushing need to go there all the same. He grabbed Lex's arm and pulled him towards the door out, back into the halls. First, though, he kissed him again. This time, it was more as if for good luck. It didn't exactly feel appropriate, with having just seen this guy die in front of them, but for all Seth knew they could be next.

"Yeah.. lead the way," Seth said, trying to keep his mind on their destination over what had just happened, and the creatures. It was a good thing Lex had known where to go, because the teen hadn't really been all that sure as to where this room had been.
When they'd reached it, Seth tried the door, only to find it was locked. He looked at Lex for a second. "You don't have.. uh.. a safety pin, or something, do you?"
They could probably just have broken the door down, but it always seemed a lot safer to have one in between yourself and the darkened corridors. Seth had become decent at picking the dorm room locks in the past, for reasons he didn't quite want to recollect on, so that would probably serve decent in getting them in. Yet, he was short of something to pick the lock with.

Seth nodded, waiting in front of room 309's door, almost wishing he had gone with Lex in fear of being in this open hallway. When Lex came back out he smiled, taking the safety pin from him and bending it so it became long and straight, twisting out of its original shape. He broke the end piece off which was too set to bend, then started picking at the lock.
It had taken the teen a while, yet eventually there could be heard a small click, which represented the door's unlocking. Seth put his hand on the knob, ready to open it up. He couldn't imagine too much horror to be hiding in the lone dorm room, yet he still felt a bit paranoid about entering. "Whatever happens to us.." Seth started, trailing off as he was feeling a rather silly for saying what he was. "...I really like you, Lex."
The teen opened the door then, peered inside. The dorm room was dark, and Seth had to feel around for the light switch, flicking it on quickly. The room illuminated to a bit of a disturbing sight. There weren't any monsters, or corpses, or anything of the like, as Seth had been imagining. But, there was writing all up the walls, papers and journals scattered everywhere. Whoever had been using this room, presumably the deceased professor, had definately long since gone insane. If the professor had been using the room recently, though, Seth couldn't imagine how he and Lex hadn't ran into each other earlier. From the sign of moldy food on one of the desks, Seth guessed the guy hadn't been in the room for a while, though.
"Creepy," Seth said, closing the door behind himself and Lex. He somehow had felt safer in the hall, though, away from the chill this room sent down his spine. The teen started looking through some of the papers, journals, drawings. A lot of them were in short type hand writing, so they were hard to read. From what Seth could tell, they depicted creatures much like the one him and Lex had ran into, the ones that plagued the school. The strangest part was that they were clearly dated months, even years before this entire event happened. Seth wondered if that didn't mean the professor had known about this happening. The teen even felt a bit enraged, as if maybe he could have stopped it.
Seth started to hand some of the books and papers to Lex, in case he was interested. He continued to look through all the scattered documents, torn pages, hoping he might come across some form of way out, or some solution to this entire dilemma. He ended up stopping part way through his search, finding only the same gibberish and drawings over, and over again.
Seth felt hopeless. He was glad, however, that he wasn't alone. He made his way passed the messy, paper covered floor and back to Lex, wrapping his arms around his friend and giving him a hug. Seth pulled back slightly and then kissed him. There was a certain attraction Lex held that the teen just couldn't quite place, a sort of alure, trait that most humans didn't have.

"I know," Seth commented, he'd been wondering the same thing. "Could.. it have been the professor's fault? Like, he discovered them, or something?" Seth questioned, letting his thoughts flow out loud. If he had discovered or even created these things, it was clear they were now far out of his hands.
Seth started to go through the papers once more. In them, he found the blueprints to some sort of machine, portal, something that looked as if it were located in the school's basement. Seth got up quickly and waved it in the air, then let Lex look it over himself.
"Whatever the hell this is, it looks like we'll have to goto the basement..." Seth said, taking a deep gulp. He had been afraid of the school's basement even before this entire event, it gave him the creeps. The fact that it now seemed to be the source of everything didn't really make him want to go there. He sort of wished he could just hide the paper, forget he'd seen it, forget about all of that. Yet Seth knew there wouldn't be any other chance of finding a way out. "...Or avoid it like the plague."
Seth paused, realizing he was feeling rather tired. He yawned lightly, considering suggesting to sleep first. Although ever since these monsters had come about, sleeping had never really come easily. There was always that constant fear of never waking up again.

Seth stirred lightly as he awoke. The teen smiled softly, seeing Lex, and also realizing this meant he'd lived through his sleep. Yet, part of his joy left him when his gaze set itself on Lex's dorm, realizing this meant he was still trapped in the school. Every time Seth had slept since this entire event had happened, he'd awoken hoping for it to have just been a horrible nightmare, only to have reality stick cold, icy tendrils in his mind and remind him it was real.
Seth sat up slowly, looked at Lex tiredly yet, not tired enough to ever go back to bed. "Do you think people are trying to get in?" He asked. It was a random question, but it was a thought that'd come to his mind. Did people know everyone in the school was missing? They were trying so hard to get out, but were rescuers also trying hard to get in? It was probably something Seth was thinking of as an alternative to actually having to go down into the school's basement, a place he'd wish he'd forgotten about in his dreams.

Seth, looking down, peered passed his shoes and to the floor which laid under them. This entire time he'd been trying to get out of the school. Yet, when Lex suggested they might wait a while before going to the basement, it made him think of why he wanted out. Sure, there were the inevitable things like running out of resources, or having the constant threat of death on your mind. Even still, Seth had to admit, he didn't have anything more awaiting him once he got out. There was no welcoming life waiting to greet him with outstretched arms, and its not like things could ever go back to how they'd been before this event. All of Seth's school peers were gone, and all he'd been dedicating his life to was school.
"Yeah, let's wait a while..." Seth said, looking back up. He'd been thinking of the school as a prison before, and now he realized, as long as they kept safe of the creatures, it wasn't so bad.
