I'd have to say Children of Dune. I was very pleased with how Sci-Fi handled such complex and lengthy material.
I don't think anyone can ever really make an accurate movie of any of the Dune series books, just due to the nature of the source material, but this was an excellent attempt.

Fight Club. Hands down, mine has to be Fight Club.
I'm a huge Palahniuk fan, and I'd read the book some billion times before I ever got my hands on a copy of the film-- and I have to say, I was surprised to not be disappointed. They captured the dark, violent grittiness of it, and whoever cast it did very well. Edward Norton made a brilliant Narrator, and even though I usually find myself disliking Brad Pitt, he was well chosen as Tyler. And of course, who doesn't love Helena Bonham-Carter?
They stuck with the story almost perfectly until the very end, and the changes they made I begrudgingly accept as better suited to the medium of film. They captured the soul of the book, and it's now one of my all-time favourite films.

I guess the only ones I can think of right
now are the Harry Potter books, and I'm
not sure if this one counts since it was a
comic and not book, but I've loved the
X-Men movies too, still waiting to go
see Wolverine's Origin.

Heh, two part answer from me! My favorite book that's been turned into a movie is Marion Zimmer Bradley's Mists of Avalon, but the movie actually sucked. My favorite adaptation (i.e. I like the book and they did the movie well) is probably Tipping the Velvet.

My favorite would have to be Eragon. I watched the movie 3 times before reading the book. After reading the book however, I couldn't stop pointing out all of the differences the next time I watched it.

Hm... I would say A Great and Terrible Beauty, but the movie isn't finished yet, so there's two options. Either The Golden Compass or Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix(5).
The Golden Compass has always been a favorite of mine. My mother read out loud to me when I was younger, and afterwards I've reread it four times I think. It just reminds me of all those hours when I was younger with my mom. And I really like the plot.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is my favorite Harry Potter book, and the movie it's been turned into is amazing, I think. I've read it 3 times, and I've really come to love the whole universe, and the characters. I don't think I'll ever be tired of this book. I still laugh at the funny moments, and excited when a sudden event takes place in the book. Even though I alreade know it's gonna happen.
So... I think I'll go with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Until A Great and Terrible Beauty is finished. ^^

Oh most definitely the Harry Potter Series! I liked the first movie, I thought that was rather excellent. The second one was pretty good as well. I've never fully seen the third one for some reason. The fourth and fifth movies were just a big mess. The sixth is starting to get better but they really screwed up some parts of it. I expect the seventh movies to be fantastic because it's the last two and they better not screw it up.

My favorite book is "speak". Is a novel written by: Laurie Halse Anderson. Were the main character is raped at a party. After that she wasn't they same, until she spoke about it.
It's a great book, and so is the movie. I recommend reading the book first.

I'd have to agree with Night on this one. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite romance story. I loved the book and I think they did an amazing job with the movie :)
Of course, Harry potter is a close second but from the third movie on they changed so much from the book that it got knocked down my list.

@Well as the title asks, what is your favorite book you have read, or not read thats fine too, that has been turned into a movie? It can be anything, any genre, fiction, non fiction, sci-fi, whatver you want to talk about. You could even just talk about your favorite book wether or not it has been turned into a movie. Just stick around chat and have fun.

I love Twilight, and I can't wait to see New Moon!<3333. Another one is Harry Potter series (almost all of them).. I can't remember if I have read any other books that have been turned into a movie... : \ .

But make sure you don't have to share the theater with a tipsy women's book club.
That completely ruined my Geisha movie experience. They talked - loudly and laughed the entire movie.

My favorite book that was turned into a movie would be Twilight and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. They are very good movies and books although I think they missed a lot in Twilight and that they could have put a lot more in it.
