Aw, I wish I could trust my chinchillas to run around my room, but I've got way to many electrical wires for it to be safe at all. Instead they have a gigantic cage.
Actually, they've been rather cute lately. Now that it's gotten a bit colder the two of them like to cuddle up in the cage together. The other day I came in and both of their tales were sticking out the side. It was so funny. Then today I gave both of them a cracker. Cloe came up to see what Kino had and Kino kind of turned around so Cloe wouldn't be able to see. She was saying "My cracker! You can't have any."

D'aw, I didn't know chinchillas were so friendly!
My parents had one when they were younger and it wasn't the friendlest thing. xD
It would attack my dad and scratch up his chest if he were laying on the couch. I believe they ended up trading it with a friend for a nice coffee maker, rofl. x33
It went to a good home though, i'm sure.

I considered adopting a couple of chinchillas from a local sanctuary, but they're difficult to look after and can suffer from nasty gum diseases and so on so I changed my mind. A Polish friend of mine wanted to get one too, he had a baby all picked out for when it could leave its mother, but he had to change his mind because chins can't get too hot. If the room temperature goes over 75F/24C it will kill them, and his room gets really hot(90+) in the summer, so the little guy would have died.
Also they're monster jumpers, so if your room window is open and a chin is loose, it will be able to jump out and either escape or kill/injury itself. Very cute they may be, but they're a lot more work than some other furry critters to look after.

I actually don't think taking care of chinchillas is very hard at all. My chinchillas seem to get cold more often then they get hot. In fact my old room always seemed to be in the 80's (I still don't know why it was always so warm) but as long as I left the fan running they were fine. Now I come home and they're always cuddled up next ti each other.
Oh, and I didn't even notice you guys were talking about white chinchillas. One of mine is white. Here's a picture.

They come in all sorts of colors. I would love to have an ebony one, but I've already got two and it was hard enough to get them to get along

@Xia: D'aw, you kitty is so cute.
It was hard to tell at first where she started and where she ended though. Haha.
My cat does the same thing about nipping though.
He'll be sitting in my lap purring, and when I stop petting him, he'll nudge my hand so I start again, but then he randomly bites me.
I'm like, "LOLWUT?"
@Sho:
OMGWTFBBQ.
So cute and fluffy.
Man, I really want one now.
I can't wait till next year.

I wanted a flying squirrel for a while. So I did what I usually do in these circumstances, I gave one of my characters' a flying squirrel. Live vicariously.

My mom told me a while ago that when she came out of the house to check the garden, she saw how our dog Vicky lied on the floor with her tummy up, like she always do when she want people to tickle her. The difference was that in that afternoon, Vicky fell asleep with her legs pointing to the sky. She wasn't even leaning on a car or something, she was in the middle of the way lying on the floor like that XD Oh I wish my mom had taken a photo of her 8D
PS: I also remember once when I bought Spiderpig [which was a hamster, but called him like that because he liked to climb his cell to the roof] and attemped to pick him from his box, he made this "Orggghhhj" sound just like a pig would o_O Shocked all of us in the car xD

i've only just discovered that chincillas exist. well. maybe not only just, but only just sort of realized that they were really real and not some kind of whimsical animal made up by people with nothing better to do with their time than make up animals. or something.
now that i have recognized them as an actual living animal, i totally want one. i do not know if they're available in australia though? i'll have to check up.. and move house because my landlord wont allow anything except fish.
i do love my fish though. i have a beta and he hangs upright, floating around looking dead and then tries to jump out the bowl while you're not looking.

As cute as she is Innocence, she's not very fond of being handled. If I take her out, she tries to scramble away so I usually just stick her in my hoodie pocket and she hides there. I think if you're going to go get a chinchilla, definitely try holding the different ones and try to pick out one that will let you handle it.
My mom requested a white one from the pet shop, so when she arrived at the pet store, they never even took her out of the box she was shipped in and then my parents came and picked her up and we got her, so they never really stopped to hold her and see if she was scared or not.

Aw... I love chinchillas! They're sooooo cute... And sooo soft! ^_^ I would totally love to have one! But then again I also want a hamster... They're also super soft and super cute. ^^; Cuddly animals are just too tempting for me. My biggest weakness...
As for my animals... I had a cat, I still have a rabbit, and my Dad has a cocker spaniel. The cat has done way too many things to even list them here.... The rabbit? Well... She actually eats the cat food. >.< I got her a box to use as her bed for Christmas and I didn't think she'd actually use it so when I went up to check on her a few hours later I was surprised to see her snuggled down inside! It was adorable. The dog? Hm... I dunno. He's more weird than cute I guess. Though he does like to chase those little white moths that fly around the yard? That's kinda cute. ^///^

all chinchillas are scared of strangers, as long as you take the time to let them get used to you any chin will warm up to you.
chins arent hard to take care of at all. my room stays as 75, they can overheat in the summer but only if it's majorly hot and when they do all you need to do is give them an ice cube then slide a frozen cookie sheet in their cage and voila problem solved.
electricle wires are dangerous, i have plenty but as long as you monitor their playtime they're fine.
as for colors, chins come in all kinds of colors, white, white with grey eyes & tail, solid black, black and grey, light tan, dark tan, etc.
sadly there are no shelters around here that have chinchillas, then again that's probably a good thing, if we had those i'd probably have the whole house full of chinchillas hehe

I love chinchillas, they're adorable!
I have guinea pigs myself, five of them.
One of them once stole my lunch.
I left him alone on the floor for literally two minutes while I answered the door, but in that time he'd somehow managed to get from the floor, on to the sofa (I'm assuming he did it by climbing on to the footstool) and on to the arm of the sofa, where I'd left my plate. I returned to find him stealing the cucumber out of my sandwich.

My cat constants curls around my neck like a scarf, tucking her head under my chin. She's done it since she was a kitten, but it's still adorable in my opinion.
I've seen a chinchilla, and I do want one! But my cat would kill it. :(
Chinchillas are adorable! >uu<

I love chinchillas. They are so amazingly cute and soft, but it's hell to get them out of their cage if they don't really know you. In eighth grade, my science teacher had a bunch of animals in his back room that I'd take care of before class. AND HE HAD A CHINCHILLA. I had never held one before so I ask him if I can and how I can get him out of his cage.
"Just grab him by the tail and pull him out." O.O Eh? Okay then...
But once I got him out of the cage, he was the sweetest little thing and so freakin' soft!!!! I'd love to have one, but I don't think I'll get one.

Your teacher told you to grab him by the tail! You're not supposed to do that, they're too delicate. T^T I also find this funny because my seventh grade science teacher had two Chinchillas and the girl had babies. She died but she had too little babies. Did you know they are born with all their hair and with their eyes open? My teacher let me hold one the morning it was born. It almost got away when we were doing the pledge and the moment of silence. It tried to jump out of my hands!

Chinchillas are very cute I know some people who have some ^^
As for my pet, I have a cat, that loves to lay in my lap when I'm on the computer, then he watches the screen and sometimes chases the mouse cursor XD

Chinchillas are very cute. When I see them they seem to be independent types and not affectionate.
