He flinched slightly when he first heard the words. This was his job and it was usually just for the students who had already completed most of the required classes for graduation. He grumbled audibly on accident and started sorting the papers that were to be put in the rack. It really wasn't much of a 'job' as the secretary had stated it it. He was quite though, not wanting to admit the fact that he held this time basically sacred since most of the time he was surrounded by people.

Jem felt a pang of guilt when she heard Seven's mumble. She felt horrible and looked down. "I'm sorry..." She apologized, "But I had no other choice. If I could, I would change out the first chance I get." She didn't want to be a burden, she had already caused problems for her family and friends back home. She didn't want it to continue here.

"It's fine," he said after a moment. "It just took me two years to get into this position and you come in and get it your first year, besides I don't always get along well with others." He was still sorting the stuff. He would probably be doing homework the next day and they could trade off on the errands. It would lighten his work load but it wouldn't eliminate them.

Jem should have felt a boost of confidence, but all she felt was more guilt. "I'm sorry." She repeated, "Is there anyway I can help you with your work? I don't want to be a burden to you." How many times had she repeated this phrase? Too many to count.

"It's fine," he said after a moment. "I don't really have much to do but I usually do homework since I don't have much space at home." He was quiet then, afraid to actually say much because he wasn't sure what he could say. There was a lot of information that he could say but it wasn't working so far.

"Oh... alright." Jem replied awkwardly. She then turned to take a seat on an empty chair and pulled out a notebook from her bag. Hoping to not draw much attention to herself, she began writing in her book, soon ignoring the world around her. Whenever her pen touched paper in hopes to make a poem, she would become so concentrated that she lost touch of the real world. This was the only way she could calm herself down.

Seven was tense at the moment, which was rare for him since he was usually quite laid back so that he could take control of any situation. He jumped slightly when the bell announced that the first period was over. He was wondering at the moment if he would run into anyone that was part of the group during the day now. If he did that would be good because he could inform them of them new recruits and what to expect.
He picked up his bag after a moment, when the hallways were finally full so that he could get away from this new girl. She frightened him to some extent and he was attracted to her at the same time. That confusion was dangerous for him and if he had to suffer through half his day trying to ignore her than he would have to do that. He was concentrating on the idea of physics when he ran into someone without realizing it.
"Watch where you're going," Richard snapped lighlty. He recognized the kid that ran into him as the one who was held back but he didn't say anything. He'd already spied one of the girls that he was considering he didn't doubt that he could get them with his incredibly good looks and sense of style.
"On the contrary you should be watching where you're going," Seven responded dully. "You never know what pretty girl might turn the corner."
