I know what you mean.
It's easier to be outgoing online than in person.

I tend to be a bit shy around strangers...

I don't know why people think the internet is such a cold way to communicate with others. I think many people are more open and able to talk. rather, I'd say the internet is where people are most open.

There are a lot of people who also pretend to be others.

Kind of a way to "try out" a personality to see if it works for you...

lol. I remember when I as in 8th grade we moved from Detroit to North Dakota.
I had decided that I was going to be a different person after the move.

Darned if it didn't work out good. I had decided I was going to be a better student and that I was going to be more out-going. It was kinda strange how well it worked.

Yes!

It's really amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it.

I was a C student before the move.
Suddenly I was an A student afterwards.

There were no preconceived notions about me, so it was the perfect time for a fresh start.

well its certainly true that I failed classes before I came to this art school and now my lowest grade is a B+ but isn't that more because I don't have to take core classes anymore?
I don't think I could change my attitude to be more outgoing just because I wanted to. I kinda tried at this school, but I closed off even more after my roommate left. I feel so alone because I don't do drugs, parties, and drunken sex...

Hiya Kura!

A person can always try harder, Kat.
I think that's what I did. I made more of an effort to do things that I thought would make people perceive me better and to be more outgoing. I asked them questions about them, I didn't talk about myself unless asked, etc.

(Basically I did the opposite of what I saw/heard my Dad doing. He always talked nonstop, and he was the hero of every story...)

After awhile, what started out being a real effort came more naturally. While I was never going to be the person everybody wanted to be friends with, at least I became somebody who was thought of as "she's ok...kinda nice". In essence, I became more like my Mom. It was my goal to be exactly like her, because everybody loved Mom.

So, while I'm not exactly like my Mom, I still try to be like her.

I'm a caring, loving humanoid!

I want to be a feline!!

That's a rather sweet story, jean. I try to be more social, but I'm too uncomfortable around people. I've never been good at making friends ever in my life.

Well, I'm not really GOOD at making friends, but I'm better than I was.
It's so hard sometimes to figure out what to say...

Of course you're a feline, Kat!

Too bad they don't stay little and itty bitty cute for long.
Within weeks they're growing up. Way too fast.

When they get older, they usually like to sleep on your lap.
That's pretty nice and comforting!

There is nothing better in the world than having a furry purry kitty on your lap when it's cold outside...

Let's see...since you've probably for sure had a purring kitty in your lap, then I'm assuming that you mean you've never had it be cold outside?

lol...

Poor poor Kat...

My problem was more in getting my cats OFF my lap.
They were always trying to get in the way...
