I can't remember where I was when somebody mentioned a raffle.
I know that I had looked at the contests before, but hadn't seen any raffle.

I guess that they started it later than the other contests.

@ Ry - Yeah, two is better than one, but I totally didn't know they would give us more than one. ><;;

I'm not sure, but its just from observation. But it does really stand out. We have a lot of families in my area that dont speak english. Many people come over here because we have a lot of orchards in the area and plenty of agriculture for jobs for people willing to do them. And these families try to get their kids in school for an education but there are a lot of issues because they're really bad in school because they dont know the language as well. I think I told you before that I worked with the elementrary kids for two years, and all the students with parents that couldn't speak english did very badly in the class. We have ESL classes (English as a second language) but we really need to put more kids in them because the other kids are holding back the rest of the classes and its really screwing up the system. D: But as for brattyness, they just dont really listen. I cannot count how many times I've had to tell them time and time again that they can't do something. And we try to talk to the parents about it and they dont understand us. @[email protected];;
And honesty, thats not supposed to sound racist, cause its not, but sorry to anyone that takes offense. Its just seriously how we have things around here. There is also many other bratty kids besides those. I've noticed that kids with divorced parents tend to do things for more attention, and that kids that have a lot of bad things going on in their life act out in bad ways and are hard to get to do what they're supposed to. *also loves psychology* ><;;

Ooh, believe me, it is nasty. I would actually really enjoy teaching, but its because of that brattyness that I would be annoyed everyday. I do not like bratty kids of any age, and I would discipline them so hard, probably. ><;; I've been like that super strict teacher that made you get things done or you're going to do it all again. I dont like putting up with BS, and youth is very full of it. I love the kids that are very polite and do their work, though. They're really friendly and enjoyable to teach and talk to.

Yeah, the Abundant Hearts Raffle came a little later than the rest of the contests, I believe. =O <3<3

@ Su : You can use it for other offers then? =O <3<3

I see then. @[email protected];; Sounds very hard. :x We also have issues relating to that here, because while some want us to start teaching in English to kids at an early age, English is NOT the first language here. So when is it too early to teach English that they'll be good at it, and not too late in that they won't master it well and can't use it properly? :x

And I hear that compared to US children, our students are like angels sent from heaven. o_o;; My old teachers who moved to the US always say that the US children are so disrespectful, throwing stuff and not paying attention and being all bratty. >.<;; I hope it's not the same everywhere there in the US, but if it happens in our area as well and not just in my teachers' schools, then I dunno. :x

I'm afraid that you're right about US kids, Ry.
They've never been taught to respect others. I know that if I acted the way most of today's kids do, I would have been in serious trouble at home!

That's sad though. :x Shouldn't respect be something so... basic? o_o;; Someone before brought it up to me that religion may play a part, but to be honest I don't think that respect only stems from religion or whatever like what that someone said. ^^;;

I think there's just been an epidemic of Laziness on the part of parents who are too busy enjoying there own lives and trying to make lots and lots of money. Even here in Canada we live near a high school and kids are constantly standing in the middle of our street talking and doing drug deals and things and you have to slam on your breaks before they'll move, one girl of about 14 was smoking a cigar and talking about how she was on her way to smoke pot with friends and when I looked at her in disbelief from across the bench she asked what I was looking at and cursed like a stereotypical Brooklyn cop. They also jaywalk all the time and instead of waiting till there are no or few cars then running (like I do XD) they just slowly mosey across the street regardless of how busy it is and assume that no-one will hit them cause they're invincible or something. They're a bunch of little brats! And it really makes you think, cause i remember before kindergarten I knew to look both ways before I crossed the street and that you should say please and thank you and not play on the road.

Is it because Sesame street has changed so much and the Magic School Bus isn't around anymore? What today's kids need is some freaking care bears complete with the "lesson in caring" at the end of the episode where share bear teaches you to share your Popsicle rather than fighting over it.

My lil bro is 14 and living with my parents in another city but when we talk on the phone and he complains about teachers or my mom I always try to make him see, that even when they're being unreasonable about it, they really only have his best interests in mind.

Ahem rant complete

First of all, before I respond to that, I just wanna say that Magic School Bus is love. Seriously. <3<3

Anyhows~ xDD;;
You do have a point about how people are too focused on making money now to mind the other things. :x Some would credit that on capitalism and existentialism. To be honest though, I personally don't know how and why respect has to get thrown out the window due to them, but I guess that's something I'll have to find out myself. ^^;;

Sigh, I'm scared for the next generation, to be honest. D; </3 My generation is bad enough, what about the next? >.<;;

I think that every generation is scared about the next generation...

But kids these days scare me personally. They don't seem to have any empathy, so they don't care what they say (or do) to others. I'm afraid that one of these days a gang of kids will break into the house and hurt me.
The ones under 18 don't care. They know that since they're "juveniles", they'll get off with a wrist slap.

Oh Jean, that's awful that you have to be afraid. :(
Personally, I'm afraid of some of the kids in my neighborhood as well, but at least I have the dogs to serve as a deterrent.

I'm rather embarassed, reading the perceptions of teens in the United States in this thread, it makes me feel kind of bad to be one of them, even though there's not much I can do about it. I hope I don't seem that way!
I would probably be back-handed, grounded, and have everything I own taken away if I was as disrespectful to my teachers, parents, or strangers as the kids in the stories you all are telling are. I've always been glad that discipline is used in my house. Certainly, lots of people in my school could use a healthy dose of it. :stare:

lol...we don't have any guns in the house.
I have these strange "waking" dreams. My hubby is afraid that I'll dream that somebody is breaking in, and start shooting.
He's afraid that I'll think HE is breaking in or something.

I haven't seen that movie, but if it has ol' Clint in it, it must be great!
