Pool parties are very nice.
I never do go swimming at them, but it is a nice cool way to get together with friends.

You'd like it at my dorm, then; we've got a pool. I wanna go take a dip in it so bad, but I haven't. And it isn't because of homework.

I have never heard of dorms having pools.
What university do you go to, Taiyo?

my school barely even has a lap pool. its really small and way over on the other side of campus. not many people even know where it is.

Is it a large school, Taiyo?
Kat, St. Edwards is a very small school, so I am not surprised they do not have all the amenities that larger universities have.
However, I do not believe that even the University of Texas has pools for their dorms!

Only one dorm has a pool, and it's the one I chose.
Uhm....I'd like to say SIU is fairly big...?

I think it must be a fairly large school, Taiyo.
What are you studying?
I like smaller universities better also, Kat.

I'm undecided at the moment. I wish the school had an astronomy major though!

Yes, Astronomy would be very interesting.
I have always loved studying about the cosmos.

I've had my head in the stars ever since I was little. I've even seen a lunar eclipse once!

I don't know if I've seen a lunar eclipse, but I've seen meteor showers and a solar eclipse. the last meteor shower I snuck out of the house to go watch. ^^

Nice.
I've seen a few meteor showers, a lunar eclipse, and the Aurora Borealis. All before I hit high school.
And I think later this year there's supposed to be another lunar eclipse that should be visible in my area.

I have seen solar and lunar eclipses, meteor showers, Haley's comet, another comet that I cannot remember the name of, and many meteor showers.
I have also seen the International Space Station going across the sky.
My earliest memory, however, was standing outside with my parents, watching Sputnik go across the sky.
That was the first satellite ever up in space.

My mom told me about seeing that when she was a kid. All it was supposed to do up there was send out a signal saying "Hey, I'm up here."

As a small child, it was very frightening to me.
My parents were huge science fiction readers, and I had been reading some of their books.
I thought that Sputnik was going to zap us with death rays while we were standing out there!

Yes, I grew up to be a very avid reader of science fiction.
I cut my teeth on Heinlein's children's books (Have Spacesuit Will Travel, Podkayne from Mars),
and quickly grew into Asimov's Robot novels and his Foundation series.
Oh my, it's very late.
I think I need to get ready for bed.
I hope to see you tomorrow!

Asimov, McCafferey, Andre Norton... I read from both of my parent's collections. It was a great literary start. ^_^

Yes, I also love Andre Norton and Anne McCafferey, although I consider them more along the lines of Fantasy.
It is true that they have thrown in some spaceships here and there, so I suppose they are true SF also.
Another favorite is CJ Cherryh. Her Foreigner series is remarkable. It's very hard to read, but very worthwhile.

I like reading Writers of the Future. I forget the connection to Asimov, but there is one. One day I'm going to submit a story to the contest and see if I can get published in that book series.
