German Shepherd! That's what I have. Rottweiler's are cute too!
I love big, big dogs.
My dogs not afraid of the cat because she does enforce the rules, but the cat does do run-by-swipings. xD

German Shepherds always look so intelligent. I've always wanted to own one of those dogs.

They are really intelligent for certain. All dogs are, to their own degree. xD
I hope to have many dogs... impossible dream.. but. xD

German Shepherds are really smart, to an insane degree. Most herding dogs have to be. Not that other dogs aren't smart, but as a breed rule herders have to be quick.

The things we had to do to keep Harley entertained. XD
We would make our dog sit in the living room and then take a bag of toys and hid them all, but before hiding them we'd drag them over things so the scents were everywhere. Then tell her to find a specific one. We had to do that about ten times a night just to keep her from being bored. :3

@Kale: I will also need lots of dogs. I need to live out in the country so I can have a big yard with a swimming pool (cement so the dogs can swim too) and trees. ^_^

That's really cool that you would spend so much time doing that for your dog. I suspect a lot of dogs in this world are bored most of the time. ._.

Pugs are also very smart. They are also social. Many adult pugs will learn your schedual and adjust to it. They also like interacton with you and will put up with almost anything.

One of the English Kings (I don't remember which) was awakend in the middle of the night by a strange barking. He made a habit of sleeping with all his dogs in his tent, including his pug. He had never heard his pug bark before, however it was barking now. It was barking at an assasin that had atempted to enter the Kings tent.

Pug owners have known them to be an inteligent breed. Why they then dress them in such stupid outfits I have no Idea.

I know. I used to have a huge three-legged german shepard. He was wicked smart too. He opened the locked door to the gate and ran away to a caterers once! There are teeth marks in the handle still, probably.

We were going to get a sweater for my dog because she's getting old and her winter coat wasn't that thick this year so she would barley go outside to do her business.

@Guivre: Well it was either make up new games, or she did. She was fond of dragging me around, literally by the scruff of my neck. xD

@Xandriana: Like I said dogs are smart (though you will get a dopey one every now and then xD).
My dog pulls me out of bed when I'm going to be late for class. ^_^ She's my alarm, usually licking me awake by the latest 8 but if I some how sleep in really late she'll just yank me until I fall flat on my face. Even when someone else is up and walks her, so it's not just her having to go out. :D

@fairy: My dog opens gates! Also the garage door. xD Then she chills in the middle of the driveway because she knows she's not allowed past the front porch without her leash on.
One day someone saw her and called animal control, when they got there she walked back into the back yard stood inside the opened fence and started barking at them. xD

Oh, jeez taking care of them... Yuen knows. Ohhhhh boy.
We tried moist food for my dog this morning and before I left for class, let's say that it didn't sit well with her.
I had to hang a rug out to dry... ._.

That's hilarious! Honestly, I think people get overreactive over stray dogs. Alot of them that are actually stray are just looking for food.
My dog would just run. He was faster than me even with three legs. He was also larger than breed standard, although we couldn't ever get him to fill out. That's probably why the caterer fed him so much! He would always jump into cars with their doors open, including a police car once! He was a crazy, crazy dog. Then he went literally crazy and we had to put him down. We think he had something wrong with his brain....

Oh my, I knew when I left yesterday that people would be here.
I've missed out on animal talk, which I love!

I grew up with dogs, cats, and parakeets.
In my own life I was only able to manage cats. When I started out on my own after college, I was in an apartment. They only allowed birds, so I got parakeets. Poor things- I couldn't train them because I was working all the time, so I gave them away. Later (a different apartment), I got gerbils. Then the owner of the apartment told me I could get a cat if I kept him inside. So I got a kitty. I thought the gerbils and kitty would coexist, but I was wrong. I felt sorry for the poor gerbils - the cat would sit and stare at them, and the gerbils just froze in their cage, frightened. So I gave the gerbils away (to the same person who took the parakeets - he had lots of kids).

Then it was the cat and me for quite awhile. Then I got a house, so I decided to get a couple of puppies. I had forgotten my experience with the parakeets. I was still working quite long hours. After a number of months, I realized that it was very, very unfair to the puppies. They weren't being trained as they should. These were AKC registered Keeshounds, and had been quite expensive, so I couldn't just give them away. I put an add in the paper and started interviewing prospective owners. I was very meticulous. I wanted somebody who would love the dogs and train them as they should be trained. I finally settled on a family with a young girl in it. She was a girl scout, and intended to raise and train them as a program for a merit badge. She also obviously had fallen in love with them.

After that it was just me and the cat. Then I got a husband. Fortunately, he loves cats. I wish I could say it ended happily ever after, but Tigger was used to me and never warmed up to my husband. (I did not get rid of the husband, however). We all coexisted until Tigger got old and stopped eating and had to be put down. After we moved to Texas, we got two kitties who lived very long and happy lives with the two of us, until they alas also grew old and died.

Now we are pet-less, and trying to decide what to do.
Very long story - I'm sorry.

Edit: I'm going to have to disappear for awhile this afternoon. I'll chat with you all later this evening.

I had a cat named Tigger. He had a crooked spine. I've never had any birds, my Mom doesn't like them. I'm not sure. I had 12 pets at one point. 6 cats, 4 dogs, a turtle and a frog. There was also a toad at some point. My turtle did "Yoga" and we thought he was dead. It was weird.

I remember that we also as children had goldfish and turtles. You used to be able to get them at Woolworth's.
