I can attest to the fact that going away to college did help me mature. Before when it was just my boyfriend going away and while I was in community college still. He matured, I wasn't mature yet. Then I joined him, I changed.

I believe that children should go "away" to college. It is not good for them to live at home. This is a good time for them to learn to live on their own.

Yeah, I know I'm in a whole world of hurt. I have to start paying loans off asap since I was made to take a semester off a couple years ago. :/ But, I have to go online when that starts and see about deferring them so I can save money for grad school. I also know that if I get into grad school, I have to pay my interest on my loans... So, I have to get a job while in Grad school :cry:

my cousin lived at home during his first years of college and treated it like high school because it felt the same. he didn't have the best work ethic in high school so he almost got kicked out of the college for bad grades. he lived on campus one semester though and that was worse so he moved back home. now he'll live across the street from my older bro and that's going to be murder on them. I wonder how it will work out.

I went to a community college for my first 2 years... hated it. Lived at home
Finished my 4-yr degree in a university 2hr away.. best decision... Only reasons I like being home- see Mike (boyfriend) and my cat. That's it. oh yes and my friends. Other than that. Hate being home. I'm stuck living with my mom. Hate it.

I hate being home for the holidays even. I mean, I like it, but I hate being here. and summer is awful. too much family time. I never went to a community college and i wouldn't be allowed to live at home if i did. it's my dad's number one rule. no living at home after high school.

I hate coming home since my parents are divorced and my dad lives with his girlfriend right now. I'm stuck with my mom till something is worked out and I would be able to live with him and his girlfriend.
When my parents split in 08, I lived with my dad. I liked it better.

After being away at school for so long and being independent. I miss it and look forward to finally getting out of the house. If I get into grad school, I look forward to that because it's me away from my parents again on my own.

I miss my cat and my boyfriend when I'm gone, but I deal with it, and he comes to visit me when I'm away so we can have time together ^^

I've never heard of parents wanting their kids to stay with them. my dad told my older bro that if he comes back home because he can't get an apartment, he's paying rent. neither me or him go to school in a near city though. I have to fly home.

I miss my cat more than anyone else when I'm not at home, but she ignores me when i'm home anyways.

Eli gets all in my space when I get home and won't leave me alone. Which makes me miss him terribly when I go away to school.
Yeah, my dad refuses to make me pay rent or anything if I'm still at home. His mentality if my parents were still together, my brother didn't have to, why should I?
He still refuses to make me pay anything. He would rather me stay home and save up my money (maybe help a little with my cat and the cell phone bill we share) so I wouldn't fall flat on my butt when I move out and into an apartment. He'd like me to be able to survive and have enough.

my cats are outdoor cats so they're only friendly when being fed or left inside. my cat will love you forever if you don't put her back outside.
my parents buy me things all the time, like I don't pay a cent for phone or school or clothes most of the time, but this only lasts as long as I'm in school. I'll be begging money though because I'm an artist. not the highest paying job out there.

I live with my mom and I don't have to pay rent. But when I am done with school and get a full time job, she'll probably make me pay rent though.

I have 34 tokens. Only this dress for the commons. I do have one set of the EIs though.

I don't live on campus at all. Never have. I live with my mom and commute to classes. I plan on living with my mom until I can save up some money to get my own place. But I will probably save up for a car first since I need one that doesn't have a bunch of problems.

I was planning on getting most of the commons. not sure I can though.

I think my dad would sooner buy me and apartment than let me live with him. not that I intend to leave santa fe even if I can't get an apartment. I won't go back home. don't like this city at all!

I only have to pay $30 to the cell phone bill if I can. He doesn't expect me to help unless I can.

I only have to buy my stuff. Sometimes I have to buy food every once in a while but it is rare...mostly I just buy candy. XD
My mom pays for my cell. Although, she said the next phone I get I have to get my own plan but now she is planning on getting me a new one when her contract ends...but I'll have to pay for my own phone, just not for using it.

I bought this upgrade phone when my phone broke. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones whose parent won't make them pay stuff right out of college. ^^"

I wouldn't consider myself unlucky. unlucky are the people that half to pay for college themselves.

I don't have to pay for college or get loans. I just use my grants and whatever that doesn't pay, my grandparents pay it because they don't want me to go into debt from loans.

my grandpa and parents pay for me and I had a CD? is that what it was called? whatever, I had stuff. I don't even get financial aid. I don't qualify.

Lucky. I'm in a lot of debt since my schooling (the university for the 2,5 yrs I went) was paid for by Fed loans, and 1 private loan one semester. Mostly grants and loans. But, the loans suck. I'm really screwed if I go to grad school. ^^"

I qualify. Only for the pell grant though. And from what I have been told, it is supposed to be really hard to get it but a lot of people receive it though...

I don't think I am going to grad school...or at least not until later if I do. I'm sick of school and I just need a break. But that won't happen until I am done.

I qualified for a lot of financial aid once I made it known my parents were separated and I lived with my unemployed father (he's employed now, but now I'm an independent, so now it's all my barely employed self)
I got a pell grant (the full amount), the Tuition Assistance from NY state, and both Stafford loans.
