^^ all of them at once. We were supposed to have 3 all female fish, but they mulitplied rather rapidly and we ended up with two aquariums to hold them all.

How big were they?

Tretras are about an inch long or less so it wasn't like our entire house was turned into an aquarium. But my mom really thought those were all female fish, though one of them obviously was male....

But I bet it probably looked like pet store aquariums where they have tons of tiny little fish. :)

yeah, maybe a bit more crowded than that. We gave some away and eventually they all died or ate each other. So no more fish. But they managed to resproduce a few more times after the intial boom before we got really good and seperating the male and female fish into different tanks.

How can you tell the difference?

*starts laughing* that's the real problom!!! For the most part, males are more colorful and the guppy males have stripes and a long tale while females are just while. But really, it so hard to tell on a lot of the fish becuase they look the same. THat's why the reproduced so many times!!

Yeah, telling which fish is more colorful doesn't sound very easy. xD

its not. I'm glad I don't have fish anymore. THough I am very temped to get one for my dorm since its so lonely without pets.

Maybe you could just get one that's a little bigger instead of three little ones that turn into a hundred little ones. :yes:

yes, definatly!! I would maybe get a Beta or something. But I don't think my roomate wants a fish in our room.

Well some fish can change sex too. But it was more likely thath the first fish you got were already pregnant, Then there were males in the spawn, and that's what started the population explosion.

Betas are so pretty! They're pretty easy to care for too.

It could be that, or the pet store people were having as hard of a time telling the genders apart as I was. But yeah, they sure do reproduce fast!

ooh! I like that avatar Kaema!! my neighbor had a lot of rabbits and my cousins had to sell theirs when they went to college/army.

I've had two rabbits but they both died. The first of old age, the second during surgery to fix its broken leg.

that really sux. Its always sad when a pet dies in surgery or something like that.

yeah. We'd just got it though. Someone had left it in a box outside the vet where my mom worked and its leg was broken. We'd only had it for about two weeks before it died. So we hadn't bonded too closely yet.

oh, I see. If your mom is a vet I bet you see a lot of animals. that must be nice. I love animals!!!
