When Dannyl suddenly started licking his hand in thanks, Slyth pulled it away somewhat abruntly as if he had almost expected that Dannyl was trying to eat him. But, that wasn't why he did it. He wasn't exactly used to anything licking his hands, other than overly affectionate small animals such as cats and dogs. Have such a large animal do it, was strange to him. And the slobber that came with the licking didn't exactly help. But, after giving a vague disgusted look at his hand, he wiped the saliva off on his clothing.
"I can let you out now." he said as he continued walking towards the invisible barrier. "Every animal has its right to hunt. Before, I could not allow such a thing. Wild Lycan's ussually kill everything, regardless of whether they need it or not. Now, you will only hunt for what you need to survive." He explained to Dannyl as he reached the wall and put his hand to it, but he did not yet lower it. "You must stay away from my den though, while you are like this." He warned before a bright glow ran accross the entire length of the barrier that held Dannyl in, and it dissapeared.

Dannyl would have grinned if he had human lips at the disgusted look on Slyth's face at the slobber from his licking. That was the only way he really knew how to say thankyou though since it was how wolves did.

What he said about lycan's who's wild side was in control wasn't entirely true, they didn't kill for no reason, they just killed and ate more than they need to, though they still ate everything they killed. It was those who's wild sides were not in control but who were still twisted by the curse that killed without eating.

When they came to the edge of the barrier though and Slyth went to lead him out, Dannyl sat down where he was, not moving. He didn't like killing and his human side hated the taste of meat, raw or otherwise. Now that he was in complete control he was unable to partially detatch himself and ignore the fact he was eating often a still alive animal. He couldn't do so anymore so he would rather stay right where he was and not hunt. It was only another day and tomorrow night he could change back and go back to eating fruit and vegetables and other non-meat products.

Slyth looked over Dannyl as the large wolf stopped and obviously didn't want to be let out. "Its only natural for wolves to eat meat." He said, though a small smile was on his face, from the fact that Dannyl still refused to eat meat. Dannyl is the only lycan's he's helped that acctually wanted to stop killing prey. "Okay." He said as he reached out and gave Dannyl a pat on the nose, as if he were simply a puppy to play with. "I'll leave the wall up." He said as he shifted upright and walked backwards out of dannyl's enclosure. "I will come visit you tomorrow." He said before giving a small wave and turning away to leave.

It may have been natural but that didn't mean Dannyl had to like it. At least one decision he made seemed to make Slyth happy. Of course he couldn't stop enirely; he would never regain his health if he stopped eating for a week out of every month, but with only a day of his transformation left he didn't see the point of putting up with it for another day.

He watched Slyth leave then rose and trotted over to where he had found the spring water to lap from it and wait for the night, dreading it but looking forward to it as well.

*

Around ten o'clock the howls of pain started as Dannyl writhed on the ground, the transformation starting to take place. The whole thing lasted about four hours during which time the howls turned to human screams, and then silence as Dannyl lay where he was by the spring, panting with exertion and naked. He couldn't remember where his clothes had fallen when he changed so he just lay where he was, napping and resting, waiting for dawn to break and Slyth to lower the barrier once more so that Dannyl could thank him with words.

Nearly every animal in the forest could hear the echoed screams of pain through the tree's as Dannyl slowly went throught the transformation back into a human. And because of it, most of the animals hid within their dens, fear peircing their hearts. Slyth tried to ignore the screams, afterall, only a few years ago he was used to such noises, but it was still difficult.
Awhile after the screams fadded away and the forest slowly came to nightly life once more, Slyth wandered from his den to go check on Dannyl. When he reached the barrier, he waited till morning, just to be sure dannyl was completely human, before he lowered it and entered. He only had to wander around for five or so minutes before he came accross the man, sleeping naked by a spring. He stared at him, vaguely surprised that he hadn't gotten himself dressed, but with a small shrug he went over to wake him. It's wasn't like he had never seen a naked man before afterall. "Dannyl, come now. I will take you somewhere warm to rest."

Dannyl had managed to start sleeping relatively soundly, even if he was a little cold, after changing and he slept the rest of the night through. The change times were always the most dangerous for a lycan, just after changing to a wolf he was disorientated and his reaction times slow, just after changing to a human he was tired and sore.

Nonetheless, he began to stir when sounds of someone approaching reached his ears, but he jumped when Slyth touched him, completely awake in an instant, eyes wide and landing on Slyth, ready to run if need be. He relaxed when he saw who it was though and a small smile touched his lips.

He nodded to what he said and stood, stretching only then remembering he was naked. He felt a moment of uncomfortableness before he realized that Slyth didn't seem to care about it. He said only, "I don't remember where my clothes are, or even if I took them off before hand or they got torn when I changed."

He followed along in silence for some time before speaking once more. "Thank you," he said sincerely. "For what you did, for finding someplace safe for me to change but most of all for taking away the wild side. You made the changing that much more bearable."

"Don't worry Dannyl. I have clothes you can wear untill I can aquire a new set for you." He said as he lead Dannyl away from the outer reaches of the forest, towards the dense parts where most of the animals made their homes. Some animals watched Dannyl warily as he passed, but others, because of Slyth's presence had no fear in coming right up for a pat on the nose or some quick chin scratches.
"Please don't thank me Dannyl." He soon said while patting a young deer on the head, "I didn't do it for thanks, I did it to make you happy." Slyth said as he looked to Dannyl. "And maybe someday i'll figure out how to take the wolf out completely, and free you from it's curse." He said before looking away and starting on his way once more, as if he felt awkward about telling Dannyl that he couldn't remove the curse. He felt he should be able to, as he was an angel of sorts. It should be easy to remove something like a simple wolf curse.

Dannyl nodded to Slyth having other clothes for him though he was curious how he obtained them since, even though he had grown a lot since they last saw each other, there was the little matter of wings and a tail that Dannyl didn't have to contend with if he were to borrow from Slyth.

"I didn't do it for thanks, I did it to make you happy."

"I know that, that you didn't do it for thanks that is. But that doesn't mean it isn't deserving of it. And it was the worst part of the transformation. That and the pain of course. But honestly being a wolf isn't so bad. The senses are so much better than being a human. If I could keep my mind... and maybe my reversable thumbs, I wouldn't mind staying as a wolf. But then a wolf with reversable thumbs would look ridiculous," he said getting an mental image of it. "It would be great if I could control when I change. But as though that'll happen. One doesn't simply shift form so completely willingly. It's unnatural changing as I do let alone whenever I wish it."

Most of the herbavor animals stayed away from him since he still smelt of lycan, but one or two of the canibals came closer and he reached out and gently scratched them, showing his deep love of animals of all kinds and of nature itself. His little cabin in the woods had been his paradise, nearly completely self sufficient with his wood working skills and thoroughly embedded in the forest surrounding it. It had hurt him to leave but he couldn't remain where his brother might have found them. He hadn't been back since. He missed the house but he missed the little nick knacks also.

"Maybe I should get back into carving," he said, thinking aloud. "I could trade carvings with some town or other, become some sort of mystery hermit recluse that no one can find when they search but who brings beautiful carvings into town now and then to trade."

A small smile crossed Slyth's lips when Dannyl started talking about keeping his apposable thumbs while in his wolf form. And it looked completely ridiculous in Slyths' mind as well. "It would be pretty funny." He said just before Dannyl mentioned how it would be unnatural for someone to be able to transform at will and painlessly. He opened his mouth slightly to say something, but seemed to think better of it as his mouth sealed itself closed moments later.
He listened quitely to Dannyl while watching some of the animals play not to far off. He didn't know what to say to Dannyl's plan. "Couldn't you make carvings and.. not go into town?" He asked with a hint of fear or worry in his voice. "Why do you need money? You don't need money to live here. Everything from nature is free here." He stared at Dannyl, his face only vaguely showing the worry that was hinted in his voice.

"I have no need for money," Dannyl agreed. "But there are certain things, man-made things, that the forest can't provide. Not without the skills to form it at least. Cloth, for example, for clothes, or the clothes themselves since I'm not very good at sewing. Blankets for winter. Tools for crafting that are either too hard to make without the skills to do so or will take too long. Weapons too, silver ones incase other lycans come, or my brother. And I like to think I'm relatively skilled with carving."

Dannyl paused for a moment, the worry and uncertainty that had been in Slyth's voice only just now registering. "I wouldn't lead anyone here, have no fear of that. City humans tend to be rather greedy and don't understand the balance they have to live with the land in order for it to remain sustainable. I wouldn't want that balance to be tipped here. Or..." he hesitated. "I could just not go at all, if you would prefer it."

"No." Slyth said forcefully as his expression turned from worry to anger. "You will not bring weapons here. Never." He said with his voiced raised a few degree's, which startled all the animals in the vicinity. He huffed out his anger then, and tried to regain his calm, which he found somewhat difficult. He hadn't meant to get mad, but Dannyl speaking of needing weapons surprised him to much for him to be able to control the anger before it had spilled out. After a few moments, he shook his head lightly and pushed his thoughts to something else Dannyl had said. "The humans know this location, they are often about trying to find a way in." He said, his calm having mostly returned. "I go into the town occationally, for clothing and other such materials. You may accompany me if you wish, on my next visit."

Dannyl's eyes widened slightly when Slyth became so forceful about not bringing weapons here. He thought about saying that weapons were nesesary for humans, to defend themselves but he knew he would only say he had no need to defend himself. He wasn't so sure but he didn't say that just yet. Instead he gave a one shouldered shrug as though it didn't matter to him and said, "Even the most basic tool can be a weapon in the right hands." He was used to fighting with a blade of some description, pre-lycan with a sword, afterwards with daggers. An eating knife or carving tools, though lacking in the finely made balance, could do the same thing really. He need not bring specially designed weapons here to feel safe.

"I go into the town occationally, for clothing and other such materials. You may accompany me if you wish, on my next visit."

He smiled lightly at that. "I would be glad to. For now... do you have a knife or something of the sort I can use to make some carvings to trade? My hands have been itching to do just that ever since I was captured."

"I'm not stupid. I know almost anything can be used as a weapon of sorts. But you will not bring something here in which it's sole purpose is to cause pain and terror." He said as he crossed his arms and wore a frown on his face. "You will have no need of using anything for weapons, nothing can enter without my knowlage or allowance of it."
"I haven't a knife with me. The only sharp tool I have is the one I use to cut vegitables. It may suit your purpose. I will show it to you when we return to the den." Which by then, they weren't far from Slyth's little den. Only another five minutes and they were there. First thing slyth did was find Dannyl some of the spare clothing he had, it was old, but it would do. And dispite the holes made for his wings and tail, it would not be apt to fall off, and it would keep Dannyl much warmer than he was naked. "They may be a little small, but they are better than nothing." he said as he handed the clothes over to Dannyl. Then he went over to where his stew pot was, and grabbed what looked like a large tooth, sharpened into a cutting intrument and attached to a small stick of wood for a handle. "Here." He said, handing it over so dannyl could see if it would be usefull in carving.

"Okay, okay, no proper weapons," Dannyl said, palms up before him in a placating way, backing down on this. For now at least. He would just have to trust Slyth that what he said was true. It seemed almost god-like, as though he were some all seeing, all knowing being who could control this land. It all seemed just too far fetched but it had worked while he was in wolf form so maybe it would this time. He guessed he was just so used to living in fear and surviving off his own skills that it seemed unnatural to suddenly place his safety and trust in another.

Reaching the den as Slyth called it he looked over the knife Slyth had spoken of, a small frown on his face. Not of unhappiness of course, more his mind ticking over how useful it would be, testing the weight of it, the manouvorability, the sharpness (and wincing as it drew a little blood from his thumb, which he promptly stuck in his mouth). "It would probably do alright for some basic things. But most decent wood for carving is rough on tools, very hard. I mean I could hunt for some soft woods but even that will take a toll on the knife. Do you mind it getting blunt?"

He had put the clothes aside in favour of something that, to Dannyl, was far more interesting, being the tools of his trade but he picked them up now with another, "Thanks," and pulled them on. They were a little small, but not overly so. More the shoulders were a little tight and the shirt stopped at the midriff and pants just above the ankles.

Slyth stared at the tool, he would rather it not get blunt, it was the only thing he had for cutting vegitable and digging them up as well. "Well, it isn't to hard to find things that you could make into a carving tool." He said as he looked about the cave, as if something would just suddenly appear before him, perfectly fitted for being a carving tool. Obviously not. "We could go ask if anyone has seen anything we could use. They are often helpful." Slyth was refuring to the animals of the forest, dispite how it sounded like he was talking about other people. He was so used to talking to the animals and living with them, that they were treated just like them, for the most part anyways.
"But, it would be easier, if we just went to town now. I could get you proper carving tools." A slight smile then came to his face, "And clothes as well." He said, laughter in his voice at the sight of Dannyl in clothes to small for him. It was rather amusing in slyth's eyes. "Unless you wish to stay here and rest, I could go on my own." He offered, dispite the fact that, he really had no idea what carving tools would look like. He'd have to ask around for those if Dannyl decided not to come with him.

"Do you have anything to barter with though?" he asked. It wasn't as though they were just going to hand over the tools Dannyl needed, especially since good ones were expensive and, as Slyth had said before, he had no need for money. But he supposed he could work up to the quality of tools he had before. He handed the knife back handle first.

"Unless you wish to stay here and rest, I could go on my own."

Dannyl smiled. "I appreciate the offer but I would rather you not return with tool that, while useful and undoubtably expensive knowing the merchants, is useless without some other tool acompanyment. If I go with you I know what I'm looking for and know the value of the tools so you won't be ripped off. And..." he looked down at himself, a rueful grin spreading across his face. "Some new clothes would be nice. I do look a little ridiculous, don't I? Like a teenage boy who's gone through a growth spurt. Dannyl, the fearsome lycan, in too small clothes," he continued, poking fun at himself in a relaxed manner like he hadn't felt for a long time.

Slyth laughed lightly at Dannyl while the man made fun of himself. "You do look ridiculous. And If I went alone, i would probably end up getting you something you like even less than too small of clothes." He snickered lightly, imagining Dannyl in different styles of clothing. Many things that came to mind were just to outragous to even be possible. "Anyways though," He said as he took the tool carefully from Dannyl, and while he did so, dannyl's tiny wound closed itself up and vanished as though it had never happened. "People always need someone to heal the sick or wounded. My healing will more than enough pay for whatever we may need."
A smirk came accross his face again, "Come now, fearsome Lycan, we should leave shortly, or else we'll be traveling in the dark on our way back." He put the small tool down where he had taken it from and went to the den enterance. "Would you like a ride?" He asked as two cows formed just outside the den, ready and awaiting passengers. "I'll be much faster than walking." He said with a smile as he walked out and jumped gracefully up onto one of the cows, as if he'd rode them a million times.

Dannyl's eyes widened when Slyth healed the little cut on his thumb. The cut would have healed on its own in a day or two but it was nice that the sting was taken out of it. "Will the wonders never cease. You rescued me from that freak show circus, despite how I had wronged you, have this paradise in the middle of hell, protect me from myself when I change, take the wildness out, heal wounds." He shook his head. "Is there anything you can't do?"

He followed Slyth out and couldn't resist the small smile on his face when Slyth jumped onto the back of a cow. It was almost reminiscent of the Slyth he remembered, the one who was convinced he was a cow.

"They won't be afraid of me?" he asked as he slowly approached one of them. "Most cows run at the mere instinct of a lycan nearby," he said. This one didn't seem to mind though and so he climbed onto its back much as he would a horse and said a little uncertainly, "Giddy up?"

"I can't draw." He said with a smirk as his cow started forwards, heading off in the direction the nearest town lay in. "I suppose you don't remember than?" He said as he looked over his shoulder to Dannyl as the cow the lycan had gotten on was now heading off on its own accord, following Slyth throught he forest. "They are my cows." He said as he held out his arm and demonstrated the fact that he had magical little cows inside him. A few grew up on his arm till they were a few inches tall and started walking about so Dannyl could see. Strangely enough, they seemed to defy gravity, as some walked on the bottom of Slyths arm. Shortly after, they simply shrunk away into nothing, though slyth still wore a smile on his face.

"Oh I remember," Dannyl said, watching with a small smile at the cute tiny cows. "Just... well you're so different to how you were then, I wasn't sure if that was just a childhood ability or not, or even if they still reacted the same way field cows do with the same fear instincts," he explained.

"Come on, lets go," he said, letting the cows lead them through the paradise forest, since that was how Dannyl thought of it.

Slyth smiled lightly as the small cows returned to him. "They react to things they way I would react. So of course they aren't afraid of you." He gave a light laugh as he patted the cow he was ridding on the head. The cow turned its head to look at him happily before looking back to the forest to watch where it was going.
Eventually, they reached the edge of the forest, which looked apon the beginning of the desert. The cows stopped there for a few moments, just inside the barrier, as if reluctant to head out into the hot desert. But soon enough, they headed out, the barrier gave a small shimmering ripple as they passed through to the other side. It was the only way one could tell that there was a barrier there, to keep things unwanted out. "It'll be awile before we reach the town." Slyth said while the cows took a mostly direct route straight to town, dispite dunes and other such things. The cows apparently had no trouble at all walking over the sand. Occationally though, the cows would abruntly change course and appear to walk around something invisible before returning back to course.

Dannyl gnawed on his bottom lip a little as he saw them approach the barrier. He couldn't see it, but he knew it was there if only for the fact that the paradise ended and the barren wasteland of the desert began almost unnaturally abruptly. He didn't want to go back out there, back to where he had come from, where humans hated, feared and hunted him, and where his brother might yet find him and force him to continue to become their weapon. The cows they were riding seemed to share his opinion but, reluctantly they moved forward. Once through, Dannyl cast one last, somewhat longing look over his shoulder before turning forwards once more and refusing to look back. This was his decision after all.

Dannyl nodded when Slyth said it would take a while to get to town; he had figured as much, not thinking Slyth would want to live too close to humans. He was silent for a time, then eventually said, "When did this happen? These other abilities of yours manifest, I mean. And this utopia you have created? I always knew you were a kind and gentle soul, it's what first drew me to you and made me want to spend time with you. I just didn't know you were capable of all this. And the wings," he gave a small laugh then. "Definitely a new development. Very cute, by the way," he added with a small smile. He was not intending to be flirtatious, just friendly. And he was curious about what had happened to Slyth after they parted ways.

Then, seemingly randomly (and offering Slyth a way out if he didn't want to answer) he asked, "Why do they keep doing that? The cows, I mean. What are they going around that I can't see?"

Slyth had made no move himself to start a conversation with Dannyl, as he was accustomed not to talking to anything that could speak the human languages. So, he had been completely comfortable with simply riding along in silence, untill Dannyl broke it with some inevitable questions. "My abilities..? Hmm.." He paused for a few moments, contemplating his answers. He had assumed questions such as these would come from Dannyl eventually, but even so, he didn't put much thought into any answers for such questions. "I can't give you a precise time for when my abilities manifested." He said with the slightest of shrugs. "But my wings came just over six years ago. It was rather sudden. They simply appeared one night, in a blinding flash. I was rather lucky to have been in my tiny room, as someone would have noticed otherwise. The wings would come every night and be gone by morning, as if my body knew not to let anyone see them." He shrugged lightly as his wings slowly started to appear form his back once more. "Everynight I would sneak out and train myself to fly, so I could escape that place. Eventually I managed it." He smiled lightly, as he reached over and brushed his fingers over his brilliant white wings. "After I escaped, I just flew as far as I could for as long as I could. I ended up at a tiny oasis in the middle of the desert. There was a cave, big enough for a den, and a few small desert animals lived about. I took up residence and brought protection to the place. Soon, I started adding more area into the protected part, and it eventually turned into the forest."
Then, he stopped, and considered answering the rather random question that had come forth from Dannyl. "Umm.." He said as he looked down at the ground, as if he had little to no idea what Dannyl was talking about. "Most likely reason is traps." He said as he looked over to Dannyl.

Dannyl frowned listening to Slyth's story. Though it was more what he didn't say than what he did stay that caught Dannyl's attention.

"Escape?" he repeated. "Escape from where? Just what happened to you after I... after we parted ways?" he asked, concern evident in his voice. He didn't like to think that anything bad had happened to Slyth because he hadn't been there to protect him.

Slyth's ears flicked up, the only part of him that showed any sort of surprise at Dannyl's question. Slyth had thought he had at the very least mentioned what had happened to him after they had parted ways all those years ago. But.. well, apparently not, as Dannyl was showing true concern and seemed rather surprised by his having to escape something.
A slight frown came to Slyth's face. Not because he was unsure as to whether or not to tell Dannyl what had happened, he really didn't care if Dannyl knew or not. The frown came because the story brought unpleasent and unwanted memories back to him.

"Well...." He finally said as he shifted somewhat atop his cow to better talk to Dannyl. "A little more than a week after.. after I left. I was found by slavers. I wasn't strong enough nor fast enough to get away, considering I hadn't eaten or drank anything for days." He sighed lightly and shook his head. "I was a slave up untill six years ago. Slavery is what I had escaped from."
