If you love Video Games like me, then you probably have some sort of comfort game. What I mean is a game that cheers you up, or that you just like to play whenever you are bored or maybe need a distraction.

For me.. Probably the Animal Crossing games. Also Kirby 64: Crystal Shards. Both are cute, but they also have this... I don't know, I can't describe it cause I'm a lunatic.

If I'm very angry, I'll throw in GTA: Vice City as a human violence analog.

Otherwise, I'll just play one of the Legacy of Kain games because I dig 'em. :)

Anything on the N64 really, especially Zelda. It was my first video game so it brings back memories and I can just wander around I don't have to actually do anything. It makes me get all nostalgic and happy.

If I'm really bored, I'd play pokemon. cuz there's really nothing to do on that game except train. But if I'm stressed or angry or something, I'd borrow Phoenix Wright from one of my friends, cuz it's so much fun.

Club Penguin, silly as it sounds. XD It's just so cute and cheerful, it never fails to cheer me up. Zoo Tycoon is also a comfort game of mine, but I'm going to need to reinstall it. :(

Sims is totally my comfort game. When I feel bad, it's fun to screw with other people's lives! Especially when I make crack pairings or pair up my own characters with book characters. XD; Like, I made Chase and Jack from Xaolin Showdown, and made them get married, and I made an OC and Sirius Black and had them get married and have a baby, I make mine and my friends' RP characters... It just amuses and and serves to carry out my guilty pleasures.

Rock Band is what I like to play when I'm bored. That game keeps me entertained for hours straight. XD

Hmm.
I'd have to say mine is Mario Kart.
If I get bored or, it's a rainy day. Sitting down and playing it on WFC is the best! : )

Yeah, I log into club penguin, surprisingly when I am feeling super super depressed. It's really odd.... Zoo Tycoon is fun, but I found it a little too.. cold to make a comfort game.

YES Zelda games, they are suited for my emo moods. But it sucks CAUSE MY STUPID BROTHER LOST MY DISK WITH 4 GAMES ON IT :-x

- I would find Sims comforting, but I have Sims 2 and it won't work on my computer so it more depresses me at this point xD

- Mario Kart is a pretty good comfort game. Wow, I didn't even realize, BUT MY STUPID BROTHER LOST MY ORIGINAL N64 AND MK TOO!!! But I have a new n64, and a couple of those games so yes they are comforting :]

I find that playing the Rome: Total War whatsit games quite often help if I'm not feeling too chirpy, possibly because when I first heard of 'em/played them, I was with my cousins and my uncle and auntie. If I'm online I'll often look up something like Kingdom of Loathing or a particular 'site (Searching for 'Isaac Shepard' should cause it to come up.) that has a music game on it, which I find relaxing heh.

Y'know, I used to play GTA III a lot. So much so that at the time I was living in an upstairs apartment and when i'd be washing dishes, i'd look down from the window and see people walking on the sidewalk below and i'd imagine what they'd look like through a sniper rifle.

 That's bad, but god... that game was fun.

When I need to cheer up I play Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles because it is cute and needs very little strategy the way I play it. If you are a lilty you can just hit things until they die.

When it comes to what game I run to for comfort I'd have to say Portal. It's not too long, but just long enough to distract you from whatever problem is nagging at you. It requires brain work to get from level to level and by the time your finished you're usually so mentally tired that you just forget what it was that you were doing.

I'm also very fond of tetris and hexic when I'm in need of a good comfort game. I guess puzzles just do it for me when I need a break.

If I need to focus after something severely emotional, I'll play Bejeweled for hours on end. Husband knows that if I'm playing that, something has gotten to me big time.

As for actual comfort gaming, probably anything from the Ace Attorney series (Phoenix Wright 1-3 or Apollo Justice) - they make me laugh every time I play them, and I love that about them.

For me a comfort games are always something that can drag me away from the rampant violence that I am ever so used to ( working in a game store, it's all you really sell along with NBA and Madden ).
So when I want to unwind and rest, it's Katamari Damacy , preferably Beautiful Katamari for the 360, or Loco Roco 2 for the PSP. Both are very laid back and cute, and sometimes that serves me alot better than crashing cars and shooting gang members. I can do that ouside. ( jk ^_^ )

My comfort games.. They would have to be Paper Mario 64, Harvest Moon, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Any of the Phoenix Wright games, Wario's Woods, Kirby's Adventure, Banjo Kazooie, Okage: The Shadow King, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, any of the Legend of Zelda series really.

My Brother wants to add his games as well:

Quote:
All of the Kirby series, Dark Cloud 2, Paper Mario 64, Banjo and kazooie 1 and 2, Harvest Moon 64, Super Smash Bros., Morrowind, Oblivion, Yoshi's story, The Orange Box, Lost Planet, Super Mario 64, Meteos for the DS, Mario Kart, and Katamari Damacy are my comfort games.
It really seems after looking at our list and comparing it with some of the other responses that the comfort games that just make us feel good are a lot of the games that Nintendo has put out. Nintendo is the land of nostalgic gaming. :)

Hmm, Rockband or a grand theft auto game. Probably 4, but I love San Andreas if I can find my Xbox. I love the freedom in that game.

I remembered another comfort game. Everyday Shooter is a great comfort game. I love playing through the different levels and listening to the music. It's not that hard, and reasonably addictive so it's lots of fun.

If I'm really pissed off, I'll go and pop in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. I find it comforting to shoot the bad guys since I'm taking my anger out on something.

Yoshi's Story. :'D
It's too cute and happy to be sad while you're playing it, and I can play it without getting frustrated. Even I can make it through Yoshi's Story.

Yoshi's Story annoys me a touch now, maybe I'm getting too old to appreciate it's cuteness? Not that I can play it anyway as my N64 refuses to work any more :(
I used to enjoy killing things on Tomb Raider when I wanted cheering up xD

My comfort games are Diablo 2 and gauntlet dark legacy ( makes me laugh when the female characters moan in joy when they find food). I can't wait for Diablo 3, it looks truly awesome.
