Gaia has way too much spam.
I post a thread in the chatterbox and it gets lost in a matter of seconds.

I have trouble in people's art threads finding answers to my questions because they all have dedicated bumpers constantly posting  again and again. But there are so many people and such a lack of enough sub forums that they need all the bumping to stay on the first page

Yea. Gaia is really trying though there are a lot of sub-forums it's just that Gaia's community is SO large that it doesn't really matter it all gets filled up anyways.

Especially when everyone is bumping so much to spite their neighbor threads.

I didn't realize how much I hated all the bumping and spam until I was active here for a while. xD

It does make it really hard to talk to anyone because you come back and your post and their answer are 2 pages back behind a wall of bumps. :XD

I'm always impressed when people can find the actual posts that get buried in all of the bumps.

Yea same here. At a point I was paid to bump in threads like that.

Omg, a paid bumper would be such an awful job. :gonk:

Though I have to say, I did quite a lot of bumping when I first started playing Gaia. That was in '03 though, and by '04, I'd found a different niche that didn't require bumping at all. People had conversations, and it was amazing. *'s the B&C forum*

Now I can imagine wading through pages of emoticon bumps. It makes me cry a little inside. And I haven't set foot in Chatterbox in at least four years.

When I "worked" as a volunteer bumper for someone's art auction in exchange for art, I acted kind of like a secretary since I gave the artist an update of anyone who posted amidst my mass of bumping. XD

After being on Mene though, I realize how terrible bumping is. On Gaia I would do it since I didn't have anywhere to really hangout most of the time. After they nerfed gold earning from posts its become almost useless.

I think they've raised how much you earn from posting. I saw someone say they were earning 100g or something a post. I haven't really paid much attention to it, but it'd be cool if it's true. Maybe it'd encourage more posting... Though I don't think it's per-character earning or anything like it is here... I may have to do some experiments.

I think that if you haven't posted in awhile you get 50 gold for a first post bonus and same if you haven't voted in a poll in awhile. otherwise it's from 1-4 per post

They've upped it, Thulhu.

Now you get 75 for the first post... then I think it drops to 50.

I haven't done enough posts at one time to get much more than that...

I too find bumping horrific now  Shows how much of a culture change it is coming on here, doesn't it? I used to bump when I first joined Gaia, I really didn't know any better as it was my first avatar site, but if I go back there now and visit my friend's quest thread, I just can't tolerate it all, and get deeply frustrated by the fact that no-one will talk :headdesk:

I think I only ever bumped in a competition and I tried to talk to people when I was doing that while bumping but most of the time it didn't work.
Now I don't bother at all, last time I tried to have a conversation it took me a few minutes to make the post and then only to see it disappear after one.

Hell, I bump all the time in my own threads. If I didn't, it would fall right off the first page in a matter of seconds. And nobody even likes to come chat in my threads to help me keep it up. And when their art request threads, I'm not going to just abondon it. So bumping is what I'm forced to do. Often times I'll just post quotes and lyrics and whatnot, instead of the word bump.

If I had someone to converse with in my threads, I wouldn't resort to bumping.

My quest thread is filled with nothing but bumps now since I'm no longer in it to maintain conversation xD Even when I go back, all I do is make a quick post about what I've been doing, but not expecting any comments or response to them at all. Most of the speech I get from my bumpers were all short and below ten words per post anyway...

None of us uses the word 'bump' when we bump though, it's usually an emote or an image of some sort.

I miss emoti-Domo. He was rad.

I do like that you get more for posting nowadays, except that it ends up encouraging excessive bumping.

x:

I normally only go bumping to get my fish tank out there, so people will Booty Grab it.

It's a bad habit og mine to spam flood the CB. Dx
