My opinion on Marked is indecisive, I can't decide whether I truly like it or not.
I like the Cast's take on vampires, as well as the overall storyline and use of pagan and native-american religion, among other things. However, I want to curb-stomp Zoey for being this goody two shoes, self-centered mary sue. Also the pathetic boy drama is just irritating.
If the books had a more appealing main character and put the shallow teen romance on the backburner, I would appreciate them a lot more.
I suppose I'm just reading the wrong genre of book. >__>

Nonetheless, I have read all of them, and enjoyed individual aspects of each.

Has anyone else read the House of Night series ? THey start out with the book marked. I love them they are my favorite series. They are about this girl who gets marked into a vampire and she has to go to a school just for vampires and then she finds out she is suppose to be the next high priestess. It is a really good book but I haven't seen many people talk about it. I was wondering if anyone else liked them as much as I did?

If you read it, are reading, or are going to buy it, are you excited that it finally came out? I bought it yesterday and am reading it eagerly. What about you guys? Do you like the series, are "eh" about it, or obsess over it? I like it, personally.

I like the story and find it interesting, I was excited that the sixth book came out a few days ago. Do I think it is the best book I have ever read? No, but I like it enough to read it more than once. I think it is an interesting take on Vampires. I read this after I read Twilight and I have to say that I like them about the same.

I love the House of Night series! I saw it sitting on my sister-in-law's shelf and at first I didn't think I would like it because it didn't sound appealing after reading the back. One day, however, I got bored, picked it up, and didn't put it down until I was done with the book and grasped for the second. Needless to say, within a few short days, I devoured the books and have been patiently waiting for the newest one to come out. I can't wait to buy it! Now I'm counting down to my payday when I can buy it.
I like the series for a number of reasons:

1. As someone mentioned before, it has a lot of different religious backgrounds being heard at once. Not to mention they keep their minds open are respectful to others beliefs... well, most of them anyway.

2. There are different characters from different backgrounds. I love that aspect because they all are so different and so complex at the same time!

3. The conflicts that go on and the coming of age almost too quickly is cool too. It shows how someone can be thrust into a situation and come better from it.

4. A book should never be judged by it's cover seems to be a theme!!

Those are just a few points, but overall, I love the series. I'll probably post again once I read the newest book!

I might of read the first book but I don't really remember it. I think my friend spoiled some of it and I lost interest in it. I think I might try rereading it when I'm done with the book I'm reading now because it was an interesting story from what I remember.

I love the House of night series. Unfortunately, where I live the third book won't be published until March next year... which sucks. But I've finished reading and re-reading the first two books and I can't wait until March!

I've read and own all the ones that are out right now
I'm really looking forward to the newest one; one my favorite things to do is haunt the website and read the lines and chapter that have been released.
Zoey has a lot of the same problems that I have (which is really weird... but still). I like when a book (or book series) has a character or characters that I can reach out and associate with myself or soemone I know. The whole House of Night series fits that. My friends and I are so much like Zoey and "the nerd herd" that it can be scary at times.

~House of Night~

I dont know if anyone was started a theard on this book but i thought i would. I really like it. Its a great series to me, it has alot of drama but its interesting. I didnt really think it would be a good book till i got the first one. I just wanted something to read really. I like reading, and i tend to read kinda fast on some books lol. Anyway, i picked it up and started reading it. i from it to really good. Not as good as the Twilight saga or The eragon books, but a good read at least.

I have pretty much read the complete series expect for the new book that just came out called Tempted i believe. And i think it would be kool if they made a movie out of the series.(thats just my thoughts) They have clips of the characters and what not on the website. I dont think they would use the people in the clips, they would probably use good actors and such.

I hope there is someone esle out there that agrees with me and likes it too. It would be kool to talk to someone about it. I dont really know anyone near me that likes it. So i dont really have anyone to talk to about it.

All comments welcome. Hopeful good ones. But i cant stop the bad ones.

I do enjoy the series as far as young adult fiction. But unfortunately I thought the last few books starting going downhill. It seemed after Twilight became the teenage phenomenon, the Casts starting writing like Meyer. Which in a literary sense is really not good.

i have read this series. i think it is a really good series. im exicted to buy tempted. its a bit dramaic and zoey havin all these boys around her seems alittle much. but over all i think its a kool. series. i even like the website that have to go with it. They could almost start a movie or tv series with it.

I really only have two complaints about the series. First I think it gets a little ridiculous with Zoey's love octogon or however many guys she has chasing her these days. Second I think it tries to name drop way too much to prove that the authors know what the youngsters are all about these days. Other than that I think they're pretty good casual reads.

I tried to read it, I mean I think I got through the first chapter but after various things I lost track and eventually lost interest so for me I am afraid it is a fail.

I hate the first few books in regards to the way they flow, because it is very obvious when the mother is writing, and when the daughter is writing. The daughter tries to make it all hip by throwing random things in, and really, it just stands out too much. You can't use a bunch of random slang words that teens use and have the characters, who aren't really the type of characters to say those slang words, use them. It's choppy.

As the series progresses, their writing style starts to flow more naturally together and actually gets enjoyable.

That's just the critiquing end upon rereading the series. In general, I'm obsessed with it and I find it very interesting. I kind of get annoyed with Zoey for calling other people a "slut" for being with so many guys so quick, and then the way she eventually becomes with some of them... but I try to ignore it. It seems like it's finally getting knocked back down to just a few guys rather than two handfuls.

The series is entertaining, it's got an interesting plot, and there are a lot of things about it that I find really cool: regular humans getting marked to become vampyres (spelled that way because that's how they spell it in the book!), all the stuff with the Goddess Nyx, the affinities for the elements... there's evident research in the series that I feel isn't explored enough because of the authors' struggle to make and keep this a young adult story.

It also has a very interesting first line:
Quote:
Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse I saw the dead guy standing next to my locker.
It starts off confusing and annoying, but it gets better. I think the newest past few books have been the best, which is unfortunate because so many people stop reading once they read the first book and hate it.

i have read ALL their books and i luv the story! im still waiting for burned coming out sometime next year so its hard to imagine what will happen! i wonder if Zoey will FINNALY figure out all her boy problems! i understand her pain with laurent dieing but seriously i think that guy was a JERK and who would even consider going out with their teachers???NOT ME! THATS WHO! now with heath hes a total nice guy and all but he seriously doesnt fit in with all of zoey world at the moment. Erik i a total hunk is problem is that hes a little possesive and the fact that he used to go out with Zoeys friend aphrodite. the newest edition to the zoeys guy fan club is stark hes the one with the super awesome mad bow and arrow skills from their goddess. speaking of religion i cant believe that zoeys mom would fall for such a guy! hes not only super possesive and thinks hes all that but hes realy demented and super messed up in the head! the books are waaay interesting and i cant wait for the next one!
