Wow, I can imagine how you feel. My grandfather had a massive stroke in 1997 and lived but was completely parralyzed from the neck down. This past year he got a MRSA staff infection and his legs were already bad with bedsores but with the infection they were just rotting away. They were giving him morphine for pain and told us he had about 2 weeks, depending on if the morphine or infection killed him first. The only reason I was able to keep it together is the fact that we had been waiting for him to die since 1997 and when he first got the infection and I visited him, I was telling him I hoped the antibiotics worked, and that he could get better, he confided in me he had been ready to die for a while and so I just told him I hope he died well. He died 3 days after that. I think for my grandfather it was a blessing he finally passed on, though I still miss him.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa. No you weren't being insensitive. I just don't want to lose another grandparent this year, but it's not my decision. It's my great grandpa's and my grandfathers wife's decision.

When my grandfather died, he was my first grandparent I had lost (well while I have been alive, my moms mom passed before I was a twinkle in my mothers eye.) But knowing its coming never makes it easier, just takes the shock away. We never had a burial service for my grandfather, he was donated to science, but we planted a memorial tree in my aunts yard with a nice foot stone, and when the labs are done with his body, it will be cremated and returned to us, and we will probably put the ashes under his tree :)

My grandfather doesn't want a burial service at all. He will be cremated and buried next to either his grandmother or my grandmother on my mums side.

Cedura: I know! D: That would've been all bad. Nakedness can be good but not in the winter!

Naked-ness is good all the time, but winter can make it a chilly experience, unless you have a super nifty fireplace, in all I cant wait till summer, so we can run free and naked again.... My dog hates wearing clothing, and i make her wear sweaters, unless I have a fire going, then she gets to be naked :)

My grandfather died several years ago at the age of ninety years old. I went to Italy with my father to go see him. He could never really speak English very well, but luckily I picked up on a Italian fast as a child and could actually understand him much better. I miss all the old tales he used to tell back when he was a kid. He was born in 1909. He lived six more months until he died in his sleep one night. I didn't get to see my grandparents on a daily basis that was for sure. The only grandparent I have left alive is my grandmother in Italy. She is ninety-seven!

My grandma just had a tumor taken out of her colon....

All my grandparents are dead. Well I still have my great grandma and she is nearing her 100th birthday but my dads dad died before I was born and his mum died when I was one. My mums mum died when I was five and then this January her dad died.
Well thats a cheerful thing to say.

This is my last living grandparent...I never knew my dad's parents they died before I was 1 and my grandpa died when I was 11
