I agree with Mitsu-kun that your mother throwing a fit over an avatar in boxers seems a bit... extreme. "It is just a game, and everybody starts out this way." Well, Menewsha is less than a 'game' site than Gaia, but putting it that way would still get the point across. Usually if you make someone familiar with something, they'll be less afraid. Maybe let her play around with the avatar creator then show her the shops if she's looking over your shoulder that much anyways?

@Crow/Mitsunari: Weeeell, she's a very strict Evangelist...Nudity is next to murder in her head...She flips out at the slightest bit of "sexuality" be it clothing or nude avis or anything. This makes life pretty hellish for me, being a closet-case (if you catch my drift). I'm just counting down the days to when I have enough to escape home... (I'm 19, btw)

Lukastra- My heart goes out to you. Anyone who is so extreme and rigid in their religion usually ends up doing more harm than good. G-d created Adam and Eve naked. The whole Old Testament is chalk full of mitzvote (rules) about how to make more Hebrew babies. Anyways, such a rigid imposing of beliefs on you is only going to cause resentment. The difference between being a child and an adult is when you choose to respect people those who deserve respect and honour... not just 'because you're told to do so'. Anyways, the best of luck with your situation. I hope you find friends and support online at least.
