I myself am too cheap to buy Lolita fashion (I'd probably get too many stares from people, anyway). I decided I'd have a Lolita styled avatar. In fact I play tetris alot so I can get gold just to get more gear for my avatar. I have a pretty impressive collection of Lolita fashion in my inventory, infact.

I enjoy seeing well-done lolita outfits.

I specify this, because I've seen some really really HORRID "cosplay" lolita @ cons. Dear gods. *shudders*

But yes, well-done lolita, whether it be brand or not, or something in-between, is awesome. ^^

I myself would like to do the boy's style of lolita, some call it dandy, kodona, or oujisama, depending. I guess its somewhat like Mana's Elegant Gothic Aristocrat, but more ... boy-ish and less grown up. *nod*

Also, don't take everything I say about the naming 100% fact, I could be wrong, I've not looked into the style in ages, I just don't have the money or time right now. I would like to be able to get into it before the end of the year though. ^.^

I absolutely love lolita fashion.
Except I basically have no money and my parents would not like it if I started wearing lolita fashion.

Otherwise though, I would love to wear lolita clothes.

about 3 years ago, i used to be REALLY into the Gothic Lolita fashion.
i even made myself a whole outfit XD
i still think it is a lovely type of fashion and i still adore it ^__^

but now, i've grown out of it and now i've moved onto more of the gal type of japanese fashion. eg: fashion from the magazines; popteen, egg, ranzuki :3

-gigglesnort- @ lolita being 'inviting.'
Girls walking around my school are 'asking for it' more than probably anyone dressing in a lolita style.
Though I don't think dressing any way is actually 'asking for it.' (even nude isn't 'asking for it')
People should be able to keep such... desires... to themselves.

I personally rather like the lolita styles.
I'm not really sure which one I like most.
It kinda goes with my mood. Some days it's more young-ish/innocent with baby colours. Others it's more gothic.
I can't usually remember the names for them though.
They don't really matter to me.

Unfortunately I don't have any lolita clothing. Maybe when I'm older (and know how to sew) I'll save for the outfit/material I want. (^^;;

I forgot to mention that I love your username Morbid. (^^)

I love Lolita, but am faaar to cheap to buy it. I've only recently started seeing dresses being stocked by a few select shops over here.
I don't think i could get away with wearing Lolita. I'm the wrong shape for it really. Although there's a wonderful coat i've fallen in love with, that i'm tempted to buy.

I love Lolita, but it's so expensive and unless it's halloween or a costume party, you look kind of silly walking around in it, unless of course it's the more casual type.

My favorite lolita types are: gothic, sweet, casual, punk, and classic.

I would like to own an outfit, but unfortunately, I don't :(

I love lolita! I don't think it's quite for me myself; my dress is very simple and I can't fit most of the stuff. But It really works for a few of my friend who really know how to pull it off even in small doses in everyday wear. The only thing I don't like about it is it's not do-able in everyday life.

i'd re-name the thread "Gothic lolita, or EGL" rather than "lolita" as it's an entirely different thing, though the two have some distant ties in the name, but if you go to japan and ask the average gothic lolita fashion wearer if they have read vladimire nabokovs novel "lolita" they would most likely say no.
A lolita complex is the sexual love of an underage young girl who often dresses older for her age. The term lolita was coined for the fashion in the 80s because of the child like look in many of the dresses. But gothic lolita lovers don't love underage girls or anything ;p it's just the love of the fashion. The actual roots for gothic lolita fashion were supposed to have come from Japan's love of the novel ann of green gables :3
either way, I love gothic lolita fashion, not so much "lolita or loli-con"

I think you should be able and allowed to dress however you like, as long as you have your "Privates" covered. I know some of the lolita-type skirts/dresses can be rather peek-a-boo. If you're comfortable, knock yourself out! I'm sure you'd look absolutely gorgeous. And, if you get unwanted attention, you have rights; use them! Report, report, report.

I think the clothing is pretty, but from what i've seen of lolita models, they don't quite suit the image. ><;;

My friends made their own lolita dresses, so pro xD

Personally, I fine it good looking on the people who pull it off. I would adore dressing up in a very mature Lolita outfit for a special occasion, or have a Lolita like wedding dress. However, I don't have much money, and Lolita clothes are unavailable to me. D:
I have to say Kodona and Aristocrat is my style because I'm not one for skirts.

I think the Lolita style is very elegant and classy! Since I cannot afford lolita clothing such as classic, sweet and gothic, I wear casual lolita for now. When I am able to afford other kinds, I don't plan to wear it everyday, just sometimes. I'm not afraid of opinions that I know that I'll get. lol I wear what I like and I'm not afraid of it!

It's not in my taste, but I think it's cute and love seeing the outfits. I volunteer at Sogen con and they have this lolita cafe that is kinda Alice in Wonderland-ish and that's where I was first introduced to it. I think it's so adorable and if I were younger it might even be something I would go in for.

I think some lolita can be realy pretty, but I don't find it
a suitable lifestyle for myself I guess.
Not realy into cute girly thingies. ^^

Besides, I hate it if people stare at me on the streets already
so I don't want to draw alot of attention with pretty dresses like that.

I love lolita, but it's way too expensive. I have seen a majority of pieces from lolita lines & they aren't much better made than clothes in any other department store. :|
I think the style is cute, but if you're over 5'4" then you'll need to make your own//custom order so the skirt is a good length.
Otherwise you'll look like a halloween whore.

Also being overweight to obese makes the style less adorable.
Since the goal is looking like a porcelain doll & all those dolls are so very small...

I myself do love the Lolita themes, yet in my country we have no such thing aside of gothic Lolita, which looks more than gothic than it looks like Lolita o.0;; Luckily I plan on going to Japan one day with my friends, within the next two years. Once there... ;;>u> NO ONE CAN STOP MEH!!! And a must, though it probably has nothing to do with Lolita, shibuya's amazing!! <33

I'd be careful of the Japanese Lolita clothes. They're just like any other kind visually, except that the waists tend to run small, and their typically made for people with small busts. That's why it's always best to go with a local manufacturer, because they make their clothes to fit local people. (By local, I mean within the same country as you.)
If you live in the states, Rakuen is a good website for some nice Lolita clothes. If you do a quick web search, I'm sure you can find lots of sites from different countries. Just be sure that the dresses are all knee length at least and conservative, because otherwise it's not true Lolita and just a disgusting wannabe brand. ^^
And, if you're good a sewing or know someone who is, it's always cheaper to make your own stuff. I'm working on making a pattern right now for a sailor Lolita dress for myself. I'd make you one too, but there really isn't a safe way to send it and besides, I'm getting my sister's friend to help for the most part. (For like, ruffles and technical stuff.) But like I said, Rakuen is pretty good unless you've got really really big boobs. (Blunt, to the point, but very true.)

I ♥ lolita. Heart!

The fashion is so pretty. I wanna make some of my own clothes, but I'm broke. orz" I wish I had a job... A friend of mine is going to dress all decora for an anime con she's going to. Her outfit is like a hint of lolita plus colorful randomness.

I loooove lolita fashion! It's so elegant and cute! I've wanted to buy some clothing of it for some time, but it's soooo expensive.

I don't know about lifestyle (there's a lolita lifestyle?), but I definitely think it's one of the most classy looking genre of our time.

nice links, by the way. Now I can toddle about and read more (and check out cute pictures) when I'm *not* busy with the tail end of university. >.<
