lolita style can be very pretty at times...and sometimes really over-the-top
but i wouldn't wear lolita because well for 'some critical reasons'
i like to look at it in fashion pictures 'cause sometimes they give of 'inspiration' juju XD;;

I love lolita clothes and styles I prefer sweet lolies but all of them are awesome, I consider them stylish and elegant, refined too but that is when girls and boys know how to dress with it, because I have seen some sad pathetic examples here and there and...lets better not talk about that...
I do have some loli clothes at home but not as much as I wish I had....idk I wish I were slimmer to wear more and had more money to buy more too since here where I live those are semi impossible to get...so you have to buy online and pray for it to arrive and dont get lost/stolen in the mail...

I like lolita because it has some very victorian sensibilities, but it's really more rococo.
I could go either way, and honestly, I'm more of a steam person.
plus, lolita is so expensive to maintain.

I really love the Sweet, Gothic, and Ero styles. They're very pretty. As for brands, I don't know any brands, I've never kept up with it. While it's pretty, it would never look any good on me.

They do have boy lolita for guys, and I don't mean dresses made to fit dudes. (Well, there are those too, but I'm not sure if you're the cross-dressing type...) It's called Prince or just plain old Boy Lolita and has all sorts of cool stuff. It's all really cute and downright adorable, I must say, but then again I think anything with frills is adorable... ^^;; Either way, just because you're a guy doesn't mean all hope is lost! You can still wear frilly dresses or frilly guy clothes~

lol, so true, but that's because asian girls are so tiny, like me :P I'm only 5'2"
I've never seen a lolita outfit though that didn't go to at least the knees, so I'm surprised how a lot of people are saying they're kind of short....

I think lolita is a very cute style and is tons of fun to draw.
But, I would never wear it myself.
I'm more into punk and metal clothes. ^^;
And I don't have the manners or etiquette. XD

I kind of look like a boy so I should never wear lolita, lol. It looks way better if you have the face and body for it. :0
And the lifestyle.. it kind of scares me. D: All the elitism involved.

There isn't really an elitism involved, you know. Just things like tea parties if you want 'em and the like. As my wonderful sister(who I'll let elaborate if she'd like) has said before, there really is no set in stone Lolita lifestyle. Besides, the closest thing to a lifestyle includes good manners and etiquette, so elitism isn't really a part of it. ^^

On some forums and in a few conventions, there's elitism. I'm sure not many lolitas are like that, but picturing some dolled-up girl in six-inch heels throwing a fit over how her she's better is kind of frightening. xDD

I've found that low heels are a lot more popular with Lolita styles and tend to look better as well. ^^ With the hissy fit, though, I'm guessing that's just some people, like some Lolitas happen to be total otakus as well. Me, on the other hand, I'm an aspiring Lolita who prefers the classic Victorian form of etiquette even if I'm more of a Yankee by the Japanese definition of the word. ^^;;
I've only run into nice Lolitas, though, so I can't say I've had any experience with the elitism. It's just as bad as a goth acting like they're cooler than punks because of how they dress... just doesn't work like that.

Lolita is so cute! I think my favorite brand is Baby The Stars Shine Bright. <3
It's too expensive, though. ; o ;
I mean, I'm sure everything's reasonably priced in Japan, but to be ordering lolita fashions overseas or ordering handmade ones in the US is just out of my budget. T A T
I would totally dress up in lolita everyday if I could, but you know... I can't... XD;

I've always wanted a lolita outfit haha... I dunno where I'd wear it, or why, or if it would even look decent on me, but I always wanted to wear one. Something about all the details you tend to find on them is really cute. :)

I love the Lolita lifestyle, though it is terribly expensive v.v I went to Momocon as a Gothic Lolita only because one of my friends had an outfit that she ordered a few years back and most of the outfit she had sewn herself, like the accessories and such. She bought the shoes and the skirt but she made the top on her own ^---^

I think the term can attract the wrong type of attention (after all, just think about the book of the same name) and the style can attract the wrong type of attention when worn a certain way (i.e. very young girls wearing it, wearing the skirts extremely short and looking like a Halloween whore).
But from what I've seen, most lolitas aren't like that and I definitely think the style is very pretty, especially since the fashion gets its roots from the Victorian era, and I LOVE Victorian fashion. Personally though, it's not something I would wear and I'd certainly look odd wearing it where I live. xD

The word "Lolita" means "little girl", so it's not really looking for bad attention. Yeah, so there's one sicko out there who wrote a novel with the same title; by never using the work Lolita again, it's just giving him more power... Besides, if the name really bothers you, you can introduce it as "a Neo-Victorian fashion named after the french word for 'little girl': Lolita".
I don't think a little girl wearing it is asking for bad attention at all. It's cute adorable clothing that can make anyone look like a princess, so it's only natural for a little girl to wear something like that. Also, ALL Lolita skirts reach down to the knees except for Ero-Lolita which must reach mid thigh. Those short "Halloween whore" skirts aren't true Lolita at all, because the true fashion is quite conservative. Just because someone calls it Lolita, doesn't mean that they are right.
Regardless of what other people say, it attracts it's own mix of types of attention with no more "bad attention" than "good attention". I'd have to say that those disgusting jeans with all the holes pre manufactured into them can attract even worse attention with some of their placement, same with those micro-mini prom dresses. There are many more non-Harijuku fashions that attract horrid attention.

Yes I know, I said that from what I've seen of Lolita it's not slutty or whoreish at all.
And yes, Lolita has more definitions than the one commonly associated with it, but most people associated the word with the book Lolita.
I'm very fond of the lolita fashions; it's just not something I could see myself wearing.
