If there was anything you wanted to see in a vampire story, list it here. I desperately need ideas.

Vampire stories are a little overused, but I'd like to see some real vampires. As in, vampires that aren't terribly dressed up to be totally wonderful, but vampires that are actually undead and follow at least most of the basic rules of vampirism. Also, I think a Christian vampire would be a cool twist, as they're supposed to hate crosses according to myth. Now just how would that work... But I'll leave the details up to your imagination.

I suppose you're talking about the type of vampire that doesn't *sparkle* ;) Don't worry, none of those in my book.

Funny you should mention that, a friend and I once came up with a Catholic vampire. She's a horribly amusing little creature, always getting herself hurt with religious paraphenalia

Oh my goodness, that sounds downright adorable! XD You should totally do that! No rosary beads for her, though. I think I've got a list somewhere of the typically vampire traits if you're interested.

Ah, had to take a break for dinner. >.< I couldn't find the list(someone probably moved it from where I had it; darn people messing up my loose organization) but I have most of it memorized, so here goes nothing.
Vampires: burn in sunlight(either that or they're just sensitive/allergic to it, if you want to water it down), can't stand holy symbols/holy water, sink in water, are reanimate corpses(except that, unlike Zombies, they have brains), typically go after their families as their first victims, commonly have pale skin/widow's peaks/all that fun stuff, drink blood(well duh) to keep their youthful appearance, control bats/mists/weather/hypnotism- all the fun stuff, have really bad breath(cuz their dead bodies, but I see this one and the next two as optional), have no need to breath and therefor don't unless they force themselves & can't heal injuries(because their dead).
There might be more, but I can't remember them right now. ^^;; The most common ways people become vampires are after dieing from a vampire bite, if the moon light falls on the face of a corpse, and if an animal jumps over a coffin. Fun fun stuff. I found I whole little booklet on the topic, but I don't know what I did with it... Tis the story of my life. orz (loosing things I wished I had on hand, that is.)

In some mythologies the vampire is a demon that has thrown out the person who lived there before. I think it would be interesting if someone realised they were in a body with a vampire and tried to throw them out or at least regain control. It may sound better in my head though....

@fairywaif:
It sounds pretty good on paper as well, but a little hard to understand.
So basically, a vampire is like another person in your body- a demon to be exact- that resides there with you and, if they take control, you become a vampire? Or is the actually vampire of pop culture the expelled demon only? @[email protected] I ish curious on this one.
I think it would make a very good twist on the typical vampire story. It pulls from different lore and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done before. That'd be like, really awesome as a story if pulled off correctly.

Perhaps it's in more 'Jekyll&Hyde' type of relationship. Or werewolf type. In which at times, the body is the human and others it is the vampire. And if the Vampire dominates the body, the body becomes a full vampire.

Vampires might be overused, but some people are fascinated by them (my father really loves them) and don't mind seeing what else is out there pertaining to them.... as for what I want to see in a vampire story... I wouldn't mind a "keep to your own species" or "eat the prey, not screw it" spin as well as variances in vampire lore.
