I should watch my calorie intake. Probably will start to soon. However you should be aware that for most people eating under the 2,000 calorie daily recommendation can cause problems too. Even contrary to what one might think it may cause your body to store more fat. Your body wants to keep a supple of calories on hand, so to say, to use in case of emergency. If it feels that it is not getting enough to run on it will store as much as it can. You should not go lower than the 2,000 calories a day without talking to your Doctor. Your Doctor will know if it is necessary, or even advisable for you to do so.

Nope. and I'm a twig. Once I ate the Tour of Italy at Olive Garden when I wasn't even full and ate it all. But I don't eat purely crap though. I pretty much only eat great tasting food.

I'm definitely not a health freak, though I'm trying to eat more all-natural foods...it's a pain when you're poor and trying to pay for a wedding. I'm not so much worried about calorie content as much as I am sodium content. Heart problems run in my family so I'm predisposed to high blood pressure. The calories I don't care as much about, especially in the spring and summer months when I'm walking home from work. I walk a good twenty miles or more during the week since I don't drive, sometimes more if I feel up to walking to work. That combined with my insane metabolism rate keeps me from having to worry too much about calorie content in what I eat. That sodium though is the killer, especially when I'm on a budget foodwise.

Not anymore..
I used to try that and other diets, but nothing ever satisfied me.
I was always hungry and miserable because I'd have to constantly eat light things.

Now I don't really worry about calories.
I just try to be reasonable with what I eat.
I'm not thin or anything, but I really don't care.

We all have one life, and I'm not going to be miserable and tiny when I can be happy and not thin.

How many calories can you eat before you get fat?
No, I'm not a health freak. I keep my calories to a reasonable level, though. It takes a crap-load of calories to make me fat! I haven't gotten fat yet, so I'm not sure. I've always been really skinny and I still am. What I usually do is "eat nothing, taste everything"; in other words, I take a little bit of everything so I can keep the calories to a decent level and yet still have variety and I don't have to worry about depriving myself of good foods.

I don't count calories, but I do count carbs and fat. But I'd say my diet ranges somewhere from 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day, depending on if it's a weekday or weekend. I've been dieting for quite a while now, and it seems to be working well. I've lost almost 60 pounds. :) Exercise is a huge factor though...

Exercising is always a good fact and even being on diet or not everyone should do some for at least 30 minutes a day ;D
Even just walking is good to make your muscles work a little xD

I never count my calories. EVER. I think I would probably stop eating if I knew how bad almost everything is..

Calorie intake depends on how your metabolism is. For me I can eat whatever I want and not gain any weight. My friend on the other hand has to really watch what she eats otherwise she does gain weight really easy.

I don't watch my calorie intake although I considered it at one point just to monitor more when I ate more than anything. I always worry that I eat too many unhealthy things or not enough protein or things like that. I also worry about when my metabolism does slow down and I start gaining weight because of my eating habits.

I don't count my calories but I do try to eat healthy as much as possible. I have switched from white bread/rice to brown "100%whole grain" breads/rice. I have tried to get as much sugars and "hight fructose corn syrup" (a nasty sweetener that pounds on the weight) out of my diet as possible. I don't drink soda or sugar filled drinks (including fruit drinks, they take out all the fiber leaving just the sugar behind, which hits your bloodstream fast and turns into fat). I switched out my snacks to unsalted nuts (they satisfy hunger quickly), fruits and veggies. I also eat about 5 times a day, small meals...but I love the fact that I don't get the hungry angry feeling I used to get when I hadn't eaten often enough. All of these changes have really helped me feel better. I find that sugar makes me feel gross. I notice the different when I have sugary foods, and I don't like it one bit.

Yet with all this, I still struggle with my weight.

There are other issues that cause weight gain. In my case, myself and many of my relatives have thyroid issues. Thyroid issues often result in a very slow metabolism, making weight loss nearly impossible.

Sooo...Off to the doc I go next week. To see if I can find some way to get the weight off. Because diet and exercise is just not cutting it at the moment and I am very frustrated.

I guess what I should say, is consult with your doc. regarding weight issues. You never know when you are under eating/over eating or if you have a problem that needs medical assistance.

I don't count my calories...I find it too much of a bother and it'll probably make me paranoid.

However, I do watch what I eat though, I tend to avoid eating the ones that I know have high calories, such as french fries, hamburgers, chips, etc. I also have a thing about fat on meat...I always bite the fat off and throw it away, and I rarely eat the skin of birds since there's nearly always a layer of fat below the skin.

Occasionally I'd just think, 'to heck with it' and enjoy myself with a meal of fast food or junk food, but in all I don't think I'll have to worry about my calorie intake yet.
