So, where to start?

My name is Akechi, I am eighteen years old. I've decided to join this site after trying multiple other Avatar Communities [not to mention any names...cough cough], only to find that they are primarily filled with immature children and beggars. I heard this was different, so I'll give it a shot, yeah.

A bit about myself: I have many interests - one is drawing, especially surreal drawings that make people scratch their heads in confusion. I'm also very interested in video games, mostly online ones - Left4Dead, Counter Strike: Source, Warcraft III, all are good.

I'm also extremely obsessed with music. My music collection is so big I had to transfer it to a 640 GB external hard drive. Currently I'm listening to a lot of Oingo Boingo [80's Nu Wave] and Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force [like Dragonforce, but much much much better]. My tastes range from blues/soft rock [Stevie Ray Vaughn/Eric Johnson], to heavy/death metal [The Breaking Wheel, Children of Bodom], to even pop music [Paramore, Lit].

I tend to keep to myself a lot. I 'lurk' more often than I post, which becomes a problem. For example, in a certain forum, I've been on said forum for about four years and only have about 200 posts.

I have many other hobbies as well, such as playing guitar, composing music, and 'fretting' songs for a PYTHON version of Rock Band for the computer. Perhaps if I find the time I'll share some of said songs with you.

I also model and skin for various mods, as well as hex models for existing ones. I helped in a number of modifications for Half Life 2 [that went unreleased, unfortunately]. Currently I'm doing minimal assistance to several indie developers [stuff like idea suggestions].

I'm rambling. Bottom line is that I like video games, music, and computer. Looking forward to my stay here.

Hi, welcome to the site! I'm new too, but so far the people around here seem fairly mature. Of course, this is the first time I've been to an avatar site, so I don't know the level of maturity you seek.

Yes there might be children, though they should be older than 13, and there MIGHT be some small begging, but all the 'bad seeds' usually get weeded out when they don't follow the rules. (Begging IS against the Rules/ToS).

One of my favourite things is music too. Though I prefer to listen to Asian music especially Chinese (which I can understand) and Korean (have no idea what they are singing :sweat: but the songs are great). I love to listen to new songs so if you would recommend any it would be great. I should expand on my English collection which is old school for my generation... LOL does that make sense? Well I mean people like Back street boys, Five, 98 degrees among others.
I love to sketch... though my sketching are horrible and I'll never show them to anyone. :sweat:

Ahh...I don't listen to very much Chinese or Korean, nor do I have an idea of what genre of said Asian music you like. I'm automatically going to assume that it's pop based on the English bands you listed, in which case I can recommend nothing. If you care not what the genre is, then I'd suggest checking out some X-Japan. Songs you should check out by them are "I.V.", "Endless Rain", "Week End", "Silent Jealousy" among others....PM me if you're interested.

Your sketching can't be THAT horrible. You should take more pride in what you draw. For example, as soon as I complete my current sketch, I'll upload the three I've done this week on a scanner, regardless of what everyone will think about it.

I enjoy singing as well, in public or private.

@Ayumi: Hah, that's good to know. If the majority is 15-20 [I'm assuming this is the majority age group anyhow], then there should be little problems with maturity. Also, take into account that I don't mind people that are under thirteen, as long as they are mature. I know quite a few people who are twelve and thirteen that are [insert synonym for mature]. Thanks, I'm looking forward to staying here.

Welcome to Menewsha~ It really does seem like everyone here is older, doesn't? But that isn't really a bad thing. I've found the more mature population to be quite refreshing. (I'm not the type of person that can stand people in my own age group.)
Mene really is much better than other avatar communities I've run across, though the roleplaying isn't as developed as one would like just yet. Oh well. My sisters and I will simply have to fix that and bring and around and roleplaying revolution~

I have quite an obsession with music as well, but I don't have the money to purchase all the music I'd like to. (If I did, I can assure you that there would be nothing less than an entire wall of my bedroom devoted to it.) I'm more of a country person, but I tend to listen to a lot of everything, mostly oldies, pop, some rock, and really anything with a good guitar solo. (Through the Fire and Flames is total drool material) Foreign music is also fun as well. Epic High, a Korean group, makes a lot of really good music and Morning Musume makes a good bit of Japanese girly pop, though I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like that much... French pop has a lot of the fun stuff though, like Alizee. There are good American artists too, but they're a little over done... What you should really try is Indian music. Dhoom and Dhoom 2 have the most amazing sound tracks ever. It really is quite awesome.

Another artist~ Seems like these places atract a lot of those, doesn't it? I enjoy doodling as well (details are my hobby; I loooove the little details) but I can't say I'm very good. My talent comes in little bursts. ^^;; I'm currently trying out a webcomic, though, so the world shall soon get to judge my shoddy talent once I can get my scanner to grow a brain.

Haha, I am into video games, but my parents pretty much hate anything that does not increase my ability to get into college/get a job.

Music is amazing! Anybody could shove any type of music into my ear, and I'd like at least some aspect of it. Though right now I prefer Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Fall out Boy, Cobra Starship type of music. More emo than pop I believe.

Wow on the computers portion. You seem a lot more talented than most of the 18 year olds I know. Haha, I'm lucky that computers just seem to work with me.
