YEAH Botflies are intense man with their burrowing larvae with teeth and stuff it's so intense man I'd post pictures but it's not for the weak stomached Geesh

I luckily have never had one infiltrate my body but got to see a bot fly extraction video. Scarred me for life.

We have botflies that live in the larger pastures at the stable. The larvae attach themselves to our horses' legs, horse scratches at legs with teeth, flies go through digestive tract, mature, and are pooped out the other side only to begin the cycle again.
We use these to get rid of them while they're still on their legs.

I saw a video of one once. It was like a train wreck. Horrible, but I just couldn't look away. Hopefully I'll never see one for real, I'd probably get sick.

If I got one I would be tempted to let it hatch even though it would probably be pretty uncomfortable. Bot flies are interesting little things.

Of course, my immediate reaction upon seeing this topic was 'wtf is a botfly?' so I Wiki'd it.
Which led me to a video of some guy pulling the larvae out of his back.

Holy crap! O.O I didn't know what a botfly is until today. I thought of robot flies as well...

I googled it and watched it on youtube where there was this volunteer who bred them in his body for free! What was he thinking I don't know but I screamed out loud watching the video and it creeps me out thinking that a worm would breed in my body! that is disturbing...

I just looked at a bunch of crap about the botflys. They're kinda cute :D

I remember hearing about them before, but I forgot about them. Thanks for reminding me about these horrible creatures. I hate parasites, they are so disgusting. Interesting, but disgusting. :shiver:

Some years ago one fell in my sister's head. She felt a bump and thought she may have hitten her head without noticing.

WRONG. That disgusting thing came out everyday to breathe and it always hurt my sis until my mom saw it and... well, my parents cured her. He threw some anti-parasitarian he got from a town vet, smoke tobacco on her head until the damned thing poke out of his hole, and my mom pulled it out [and broke a nail in the process! o__o]. It was like something taken out from a dystopian sci-fi horror movie DX

Reason why even though I live in a tropical zone, I hate to get out of the city.

That's the same exact video I watched! >.<'' It was just so weird that they were talking about it as if it were something funny and laughing about it. The humans disturbed me just as much as the botflies!

I mean, on any other part of the body it already looked bad enough but thinking about it on someone's head and she probably touched it a lot and stuff >.<" its amazing how even though she probably washed her hair with shampoo, the thing was still able to live! O.O those are some strong larvae! And your mom broke a nail pulling it out? Its like an evolved species that grew resistant to lots of things...

I am not scared of mosquitoes to death because they are botfly carriers? I mean, I simply ignored botflies and just whacked them normally but now I am going to kill the hell out of them! And I live in a tropical region too but apparently my sister says they are more in the wild, like the jungle kind areas but I'm still pretty afraid now...

Robot flies would be pretty amazing but i dont really think i have ever heard of botflies!

The conflys...now those are the bad ones;).
