Himiko awoke in a strange room adorn with rich colored silks. Her head was swimming in pain as she sat up looking around. It was hard to really make out where she was in the dark room, but she must not have been home since nothing looked familiar. Himiko thought about it for awhile and realized she couldn't remember much of anything besides her name.

Looking beside her bed she saw a soft pink kimono and a necklace resting upon it. Leaning over she grabbed the necklace only to suddenly feel as though she was drowning. Seeing water flooding over her while pink fabric whirled around her as she clung to the locket.

Himiko finally napped out of it only to frantically work the locket open, but it was stuck. No doubt from the salt water it had been submerged in for so long. Himiko tried a little longer, before giving up. She was just to exhausted from it all to really work at it. Deciding to go back to sleep she went to put the locket down, but something about it just wouldn't allow her to set it down. So she put it on and curled back up in the strange bed.

Feng sighed, mornings were always such a bother. He was more of a night person, really. He stretched and dressed up in the traditional outfit and his crown. As he left his room he sat on his throne and sulked, crossing his legs and tilting his head to the side as he zoned out.

The second he heard someone walk in she sat up straight and tried to look noble.
"What is going on? How is she?" His eyes sparked with interest. She did look like a noblewoman, and super pretty. It was sad that he was more worried about a woman then the fate of his kingdom at the moment.

"She's fine Sire. Though she is suffering from trauma and so she can no longer recall herself." In formed one of men as he moved away to let her enter.

Himiko wasn't sure what was going on, but it seemed safe enough. Still it didn't ease her worried and timid nature. She was dressed in the clothing she was found in. They had been cleaned and pressed, but still held a faint sent of sea water. Her hair was braided down her back and the locket was clearly visible around her neck.

"She says her name is Himiko." The man informed Feng.

Feng had nodded along to explanations until she came in. At that point he paused and his eyes widened in wonder. When they had first found her, she was nearly a corpse, and now with the life back in her she seemed to shine with extraordinary beauty.

He paused for a second, before getting off his throne and walking down. Meeting her face to face.
"Himiko-san, Do you really not remember anything?" He looked her over, eyes full of curiosity and wonder.

"I remember my name..." Himiko said shyly as she took a seat beside the strange man who brought her in here. She really just wanted to know what all this was. And where she was suppose to be.
"Um...Where am I?" She asked him.

"You are in the country of China, Himiko-san. And I am the emperor. Do you recall if this is where you are from?" She seemed it, at least. Since Japanese and Chinese culture integrated. But she was like no one he had ever seen before.

"It doesn't matter right now, you can take your time to remember. Just rest assured that you can stay in my castle until you are well." (It's a castle...right? o_o)

(yes XD I'm sorry my post was so short. I was so tired last night)

Himiko tried to remember something, but everything was blank. It made her nervous speaking to him without any real answers. They could think she was just tricking them or something; the last thing she wanted was to be killed over a misunderstanding.

"Forgive me, but I really only remember being underwater at the moment. Does that help you at all?" Himiko asked him tying to be as helpful to him as she could in her situation. Just as she finished talking the strange man nudged her softly. He didn't find her as respectful as she should be.

"Sorry...Does that help you emperor?" She restated and bowed her head lightly.

Feng didn't like the way his advisor was treating her. She didn't have to treat her as emperor if she didn't have to. He could tell she was uncomfortable and wanted to rectify the situation.

"Please, call me Feng. Since I already said you can live here, just treat this place as home, and I your friend." He pat her head and ruffled it a little, ignoring the shocked looks of the court and giving her a gentle smile.

"and we did find you in the ocean, so that explains why you remember being underwater..." He looked down at her locket and smiled.

"You put it on. Does it feel important to you?" he pointed at it, a curious look on his face..

Himiko looked down at the locket almost forgetting she had it on.

"It's broken..." She told him sadly. Unsure of if it was special to her or not she continued to hold it. Simply because it was the only thing that belonged to her and made her feel at home. She didn't like change when she couldn't remember anything before it. It made her stomach turn just knowing she didn't belong here.

her body was trembling as she sat there staring at the locket in her hand. Despite the cold feeling of the pendant her hand felt warm.

"Hey now..." He cooed gently, placing his hands on her shoulders.

"Don't cry. Everything is going to be alright..." He didn't like the idea of her being sad or crying. But he also didn't know how to react to it. Womanly troubles were foreign to him.

"How about...I get our best blacksmiths on the locket? I'm sure it'll only take a day or two! And open it right up!"

"No it might break!" Himiko jumped slightly; forgetting herself and where she was. Quickly enough she remembered that and bowed respectfully again.
"Forgive me...But I will fix it." She told him. If it was the salted water that did this to it then maybe it just needed time to completely dry and then she could pry it open. But that also ran the risk of it breaking. Himiko stood and bowed once more.

"I thank you for your hospitality. i will excuse myself for now." Himiko bowed once more to please the people in the room and left to wonder the halls.

"Where is home?" She sighed to herself.

Feng watched her leave, and in his heart of hearts he wanted to follow her out.
"I'll...be right back." He ran after her and down the hall.

"So...you should come around the town with me...how about it? Get to know around the town?" He knew she was feeling bad, and he wanted to comfort her.

Himiko looked up at him slightly confused. Even with her memory gone Himiko could see how that was a good idea. He was noble, well beyond such a word really. So how could he just casually walk around town?

"Forgive me, but wouldn't that cause problems for you?" She asked him.

Feng gave her a cheeky grin.

"Not if I prepare. Trust me! So, around noon we should go!" He had, what he called 'Peasant clothes' that he put on when he wanted to go around the town. He would tote his instrument of choice and play on the street for money before spending it on things like a meal, something that looked like fun, or just give it to the children that he saw.

He had made a name for himself out there, 'Bai Beifong'.

"Um...ok..." Himiko replied. Really she didn't know how to say no to something so excited, so he just went along with it. Even if it did turn her stomach at the thought of being caught. Bowing lightly she excused herself.

It was still some time till noon so she went to room. Cleaning it even though the maid had tried to do it for her. It made her feel like she was earning her keep to help them. Once it was clean and set how she liked she sat down at the small desk. Trying to jimmy the lock of the pendant with a pen.

Still it wouldn't open, and worse than that she pricked herself with the end of the pen. Crying out sharply she stuck the wounded finger into her mouth when the maid came in. Seeing what she'd done all she could do was smile and help her. This strange girl was like a child in some ways, it was hard to believe she was an adult.

Once her finger was cared for she went down to look for Feng. Wherever he was.

When Feng found her his hair was in a ponytail instead of the normal upward bun he wore with a ceremonial crown. He was wearing commoner clothing and a flute in hand.

He gave her an ecstatic grin, but could sense her nervousness and calmed down a bit. "You alright? We don't have to go if you don't want to." He promised, patting the girls head.

"O no its fine. Really." Himiko smiled politely as she headed for the exit of the manor. Only thing was, she had no idea where it was, or what he looked like. Still she couldn't stop looking now. It couldn't be hard to find a large door outside. Really if she couldn't find that she had to be blind.

Walking around in circles trying to look down ever path in hopes of finding her way out to town seemed more and more hopeless.
"Um...Feng...Where do you keep the front door?" She finally asked feeling completely ridiculous. Still she did agree to go, and she couldn't break an agreement to him of all people.

Feng was watching her wander about and then started to chuckled at her befffudled expression and her question. SHe was too cute. Like a little rabbit in a bigger habitat.

"We can't go through the front. We'll have to go through the back." He held out his hand. "Would you mind me leading you?"

Himiko shook her head and followed him out. It was strange to use the back door, but she understood why. Still she wasn't completely sure as to why he brought along a flute. Even if he was going to play what would his reason be? He really had nothing to gain from it.

"Why do you have that?" Himiko finally asked out of curiosity as she moved up beside him, pointing to the flute.

"Because inside the castle walls I'm emperor Feng...but outside, I'm just an ordindary bar, Bai Beifong!" He gave a little bow, as if proud of his sneaking out and other identity.

"I'd rather be a bard then an emperor any day..." They got to a wall with vines on it, in beautiful intricate patterns they attached themselves, a rainbow of flowers attached themselves as well.

"Hmm.." He muttered to himself as he pulled a few vines gently away, revealing a human sized whole in the gate.

"It's a tight squeeze for me, so for you it should be fine."

Himiko fix through with ease as he went on talking. It seemed strange that he would ever say such a thing. Once on the other side she fixed her kimono and waited for him.

"To be common is to know hardship, why would you wish for such a thing?" She questioned him as she looked around the village. It wasn't poor, but it wasn't amazing either. It was simple and most people seemed content in their simple lives. Still not all people lived this way. There was poverty and wealth in the world.

"Shouldn't those who are better off strive to help others? Who wants to be poor or allow others to remain poor?" Himiko thought a loud.

Feng stopped at that. He turned around and ran a hand through his hair. What she said made him sound so selfish....

"I do take care of my country....My father died at such an early stage of my life, since I was 7 I was said ruler of the kingdom and was never allowed any fun. I suppose...I envied those kinds who got to play outside so much that I wanted to be like them."

He suddenly felt stupid, telling this all to a person he'd just met. He sighed sadly and bit his lip.

"I don't just envy them...I love them all and care for them. I know and respect them and...I guess that doesn't make up for the fact I'm shirking off from the palace." He said embarrassedly.

"Well you can't exactly go out the front door without being followed. Its understandable." Himiko replied as she followed him. He didn't seem like a bad person, just oblivious. Not that he could really help that with his up bringing.

"I believe you do a fine job, your heart is in the right place." She told him trying to make him sound unselfish. Himiko had never planned to make him feel that way to begin with so she was just correcting herself really.
