Some people do though, because they habitually make really short and abbreviated posts, and it does tend to be them, more often than not, who are inclined to grumble about our gold earning. But most do learn to put a bit more effort into their posts if they stick around :yes:

Well, usually people who believe the gold earning here is hard come from gaia (most people from Menewsha, anyways.) and there, the items are just about the same store price, but it is easier to get gold there whether it's a good system or not.

But here, there's no max on how much you can get from posting (throughout the day, not in one post). On gaia, everything (fishing, puzzles, etc) your gold profits start to decrease. So long-term activity here gives you an advantage. Long-term activity, with long--productive-- posts and acts give you more.

Yup, there's nothing quite so frustrating, after being used to our earning here, than making a long post on Gaia only to get 2 gold for it :sweat:

The only problem with the gold earning system is that you cant double post. And while that prevents spam, it also sows down the gold earning process.

Yeah but the thing is that You can't double post. That means that you have to sit and wait for someone to reply to you for you to actually be able to post once more.

That causes a hassle, especially with everyone typing long responses, You have to wait forever for a conversation to keep going. Eventually you're so bored of waiting that you just end up leaving the thread, in which case leaving the conversation.


And the games hardly give you anything, I get around 10g each time I play, I mean, its fair since I suck at the game, but the gold rate on this website is WAY too low for the prices on this website. I mean 150g for a pair of pants?! wth? How am I supposed to even get a full outfit when all I can get is like 10 g. :o

Haha I've been a Gaia member since o4 so I'm definitely adapted to already having a decent outfit within a good day's posting, even if its a simple bump. But I suppose I should try it before I deny this system. :]

The games are actually very fast if you are good at them. You realize how people usually talk about tetris and how they always play tetris? Well, if you can master tetris, really, it only takes 15 minutes to max out daily on one account O.o So even if you do not post much, you can buy so many things with just that 500G or 1000G you make in a day.

I don't know if it's just me, but I've never been able to get more than 50g at a time from tetris, and I usually can't get past level 12, so it takes me all day to max out *which I've only been able to do once X.x*

And I think it's easier for people to get gold from posting when you already know a person or two on Mene. I joined up knowing only one person, and then like, two weeks after I joined, they dissapeared *cries* It get's easier, I'm sure when you have 20 rp's going at once and you are able to get more than a few lines out of your head, you can make a killing XD But for Mene newbies, (like me XD), it can be difficult and oddly frusterating...

No - you're right. You can only get 50 gold at a time from any single play of any game on Menewsha. But you can play as many times as it takes for you to reach 500 gold, total, from any combination of the games.

I started out knowing nobody, but I met people who I like to hang with. And people leave, but people also come!

And if you get 50 a game, then you only need to play 10 games to max. And games don't take too long.

It's extremely hard to earn gold but by playing 'Snake' a couple of times
and posting in some topics I figured out its not as hard as it looks.

On the gold earning with games
Yes Tetris is the game that takes less time.. if you are good at it as Pancake said you can max it out in 15 minuets. But not everyone is good at the games. It happens. But practice makes perfect. When I started playing tetris on Mene I was rusty and I would make 10 gold or less per turn. I kept at it and even have had nights where I saw tetris in my sleep. But I wanted that first outfit bad enough to do it. And Guess what I can max out for the day on my main and my mule in less than an hour. It is a matter of how hard you are willing to work for the items you want. I don't even bother to play games everyday unless I really need the gold for an item on hold or such. because making a seller wait for a long time is just rude in my opinion. Games are a great way to earn extra gold to get your desired items.

On gold earning from Posting
Yes it can seem to take forever to earn by posting but I have to say I was always a lurker before I came to Mene. You have to find a nitch and get into it. I have to say I would regret having not jumped into some of the thread conversations that I have here. I have made some awesome friends because of randomly jumping in a conversation. And as long as it is not an RP going on people usually do not mind the company one bit. A forum is made for you to meet and converse with new people who may have views and ideas similar to you. So don't be afraid to post. Once you get going you will be suprised how much your gold can grow. And it can grow quickly. I came from Gaia when I was frustrated at yet again another lame event with no thought to it. It seemed they just threw something out there last second to keep a riot from happening. So I started looking for a new virtual home. Yes Gaia and several other sites have big auto gold granting for things like first post and first comment things like that.. but when you think about it does it help you earn any better? Or are you still lusting after that angelic halo you know you will never have? Come on when they updated the shops with the sweet lace items it was 30k for a shirt and another 30k for the matching skirt! Did you get that whole outfit put together in one day? And the marketplace tax? The prices are outrageouse there. And on Mene after you got use to CIs that cost upwards of 30k+ and commons just as expensive.. at least the ones that are nice and really cute.. you want to complain about the 4k dress here? Come on it is obsurde and totally uncalled for. If youpost you can earn. And I mean really post. I know some of you are going OMG wall o text right now but it is true. Go to the disussion and life issue areas, find something you have opinions on and things you have something to say about and let your opinion be known. Guess what in that it will get the next persons attention and you will have a huge conversation with text walls about your views and how you feel about it. And the gold racks up. See one big post filled with information and opinions on a topic and one short game of snake and you can afford the raggedy shirt.. and that took what less than 5 minuets? It is possible you just have to be motivated and have something to say. This is how I feel about the posting limits. It pushes us to talk and to share our views wheather it be a view on your favorite food or wheather or not they should pass a pro life bill! Its infinate in its possibilities if you just try.

On other ways to get gold
Try checking out the charities. They can help you out a lot. Did you konow (of course you don't) My first CI here on Mene was the O-fan! Yeah the one every one seems to be looking for. I went to charities and made my post limit for applying and I put in for it. I got it..and a lot more in help from the charity cicuit. There are some pretty amazing and giving people here on Mene and if you would just go in to charities and talk and post and share with other users you could get lucky there. And it happens a lot more than you would think.
There are contests all the time. Raffles, games by users in thier threads. And sometimes a raffle ticket is as cheap as 5 gold or at times free for the sake of it. You can take a moment to take the risk there and you might be amazed how lucky you can get.
User help
Users lurk in the quest forum and sometimes (more often than you would think) they see you are activly questing and bam you get a note saying you have recieved a donation or an item in trade that you want from the shops.. users here like to see the other users make their goal. Heck I have been saving for the Celes event.. but I saw a user going for a big quest item.. and the seller was holding it for them.. I didn't want to spend on commons but I saw this and was like ahh I have to buy something. So I spent almost 3k and got a ton of neat stuff but it helped her get closer to her goal as well. And don't complain about an item in exchange not being half price... if we wanted to sell them at half price we could sell to the store... its just common courtisy to expect to pay at least 60% of the store price. Eaither way it is still a discount for you.
Thats another thing look in the exchange there is always a good deal lurking there. I adore the exchange and try to buy from there when I can. My gold goes to another's quest so it is double happiness for me to know it will keep going to make dreams happen.

Got a skill
Use it. We all love art, and shiny things for our threads. And we will pay for them. I make pixel dolls for gold. And I don't ever have to worry about buying the new CIs because I have a regular client for my doll work. I also make banners and thread layouts and graphics. If you can't post make others posts look good for them I say. So see there are a ton of ways to earn on Mene and really any site like this in general. It is all about dedication. As I see it most that complain hardcore about this are the ones who complain about it on every site they are on. Its simple you get what you give. No effort no gold. Effort then there is gold. Simple and true. Just put yourself out there. You will I bet be pleasently suprised by the feedback and the gold you get in the end.

There is also the GBA "giving back auction" as well as the quest raffle to help you get older rare expensive items. You just have to pay attention and look for them. And lets not forget events and the free event rares as well as half priced commons for the shop updates.. all things are possible just try.

But also with the questing and the donating and charities, Please remember that begging is not allowed and if you keep reminding people what you are questing for, how far away you are, in posts OTHER than your quest thread, people get pissed and look at you like "is this guy/ girl trying to guilt me into giving him/her stuff?" and usually don't help you. Just let life do its own thing and you'll get stuff.

Yes do not beg it is rude and will result in no help on anything. Trust me the charity circuit is all interlaced and they talk to each other..lol So keep a good reputation and you shall go far.

While I think that some items are indeed a bit too expensive, such as the wings in the Shops and the Tuxedo suits, the majority of the items are all within acceptable range. I think it's good that one has to work for their gold to get what they want, and not just do some random things and be able to get a ton of gold within minutes. Mene would just end up as another Gaia like that.

And for those talking about Tetris...it takes 26,000 points to get you 50g. So if you're not exactly a gamer and am only playing the game to get your daily gold, once you reach 26,000 you can simply kill yourself and end the game, then start over for another round of 50g.

And yes some items are up there. But I have to say the staff is aware of things that need to change. Hence the price changes going on with certain older items. And they are even sending out refunds for the users that own them. So the site staff are really working on makeing an economy here that will last and that will work. I mean if you think about it yes the wings are expensive but even in real life if you go to a costume store the good wings you would want for a costume cost a lot more. So I look at it like that. Would I pay more for this item IRL? If yes then I am betting I am willing to pay more for it in virual life as well. :) And it is still lower than a lot of sites. >.<

Yes, I remember asking about where the Black Tuxedo Suit went in the Information Desk, and I think it was Jelly who told me that it had been taken down. She also mentioned that they were remaking the items so that it would fit the price they're being charged for, etc, so I'm aware that they're changing them. I was just sort of making an example, since the wings and the suits were the first things that came to my mind as 'expensive'...^^;

I've been trying to beat my high score in Tetris for a while, but I gave up xD My highest record was around 90k in points...I will never know just how some peopls like Aiko Valentine manage to get such high scores in their games...Dx

Yeah, posting can get kind of boring sometimes, unless your actually having a conversation with someone. && I really suck at most of the games, so for each game I only et about 2 gold xD But that's okayy, I'm not worried so much about clothes right now (even though I don't have anything on) haha.

I sort of agree. But that might be because I'm used to Gaia, where gold sometimes spouts off of everything. I'd be completely happy with the gold amount for posting if there were some sort of freebie(s) that we got once per day.

Then again, that's probably my spoiled Gaian self talking, here. Plus, I'm also new here so I might just not be familiar with how the system works yet.

If you want to earn more gold, the easiest thing you could probably do is to start typing out all your words and adding punctuation. It may be small, but just by doing that one post, you could have had scads more gold from it. :3

The gold earning is actually one thing I remember from when I was on here at the beginning. @[email protected] I remember questing for an umbrella took me FOREVER. I worked for weeks to get that thing! D: Gaaah.

There's actually no gold earnt from punctuation, Kris. To stop people from trying to earn more by using a ton of text emotes, or 25 exclaimations marks in a row xD

Unless you write stories, posting to get gold is the hardest thing.

Seems to me that the Snake game makes the most money fastest. I suggest playing it 'til your eyes fall out, and you'll probably have enough for whatever you want to buy.
