I'm just very interested in it, particularly the treatment of mental illnesses... many members of my family suffer from depression. It's such a difficult thing to combat.

Depression seems to be one of the most common metal illnesses, at least from what I've seen. :( It's cool that you went into psychology because of your interest. What kind of job are you looking to get if you don't mind me asking?
Animation is a very fun degree. If I get my way, I'm going to working for Pixar some day!
While we're on the subject,Cloudwalker, what job are you interested in?

Honestly, I haven't decided whether I want to go into research, clinical, or teaching... Right now I'm just focusing on learning as much as I can and enjoying myself. xD
It would be awesome to work for Pixar. I love their films. ^^

I want to get into Wildlife Conservation of some sort. The exact area, I'm not sure. When I get my degree I'll probably mess around at a few different jobs and then decide. Depending on what I try for, a few extra classes will be needed.
I'll have choices like a forest ranger (don't want to be), work at a wildlife refugee place for wild animals that have no where to go (or can't because of their condition), work at a place that is for rehabilitating them to be freed back into the wild, work ata national park like yellow stone.
What I really want to do, but I dont know the job title for, is to conserve a living area for these animals by keeping human influences from damaging them or their home. I want to work with the more endangered species so we don't lose them.

Hello! ^^
I haven't been here for quite a while... How's everyone? Still supporting gay marriage? Of course you should!! XD
@Cloudwalker: Wildlife Conservation? Cool! We Right now, I'm studying Electronics and Communications Engineering in college... They said I can get a lot of job opportunities with that field, from electronic devices to telecommunications, and even aeronautics! I never knew that I could work in aeronautics until recently. XD

I don't think the government should have any say in who marries who!
I don't however think fondly of marriage itself... I mean the idea of marriage is great! It has multiple uses and can definitely benefit peoples lives in countless ways! What I mean to say is that I disapprove of the stereotype of "marriage" and all the "rules of engagement" that today distinguish it apart from it's original purpose. Mostly, I just hate when people marry someone they hate for the sake of being married (or some other ridiculous excuse).
Ahem
Anyway, I realize this isn't about marriage but about gay rights of which I am a 100% supporter!
Did you know in Canada it is legal for homosexuals to marry in ALL provinces, but only SELECT provinces allow homosexuals to get divorced!

It bothers me a bit when the dream of a wedding supersedes the dream of fulfillment and lifelong companionship... I feel like a lot of young women my age are hell-bent on having the perfect wedding dress, the perfect cake, the perfect wedding photographs... but it's just one day, and it's a SYMBOL for something much more important and beautiful.
A wedding is nothing, in and of itself. It's only as good as the thing it celebrates: the love between the couple who are being wed. People should dream more of love and less of weddings. xD

In honesty i want my wedding if i ever have one I want it to be extremely small just immediate family on the beach maybe since i am summer and love water i want my dress to be shortish in the front and grow longer in the back yet look vintage and it wont be white at all. i have intent on making it myself and it will only cost me about 100 =) i think it will be a midnight color. which will mean a sunset wedding i wan things simple and cheep id get hitched i don't care XP ill still make an outfit for it though

Exactly, Doomfishy! People focus so much on the superficial qualities of marriage to the point that (in many cases) their obsession becomes their ultimate DOOM. Haha, too melodramatic? You know what I mean.
A vintage wedding would be sweet!
I would totally got for "themed" wedding. In fact! I think I would want it to be a weekend-long event! Each day there's a different "theme". I chose this mostly because I can't decide what I would want more: A cyber wedding (Where everythings "dark-industrial-futuristic-android-mania") or a victorian burlesque wedding (where everyone is either in old prostitute-styled dresses, or high-class [what I dubbed "big-ass"] dresses). Corsets, fishnets, and rubber/spandex are encouraged xGOO-GOO-PLEX!

Yeah, I guess mine sounds more like a party. I guess since I haven't really found "one person" whom I've loved "above all others". I've had friends, whom all I've loved with all my heart (though truth be told I 'trusted' some more than others). So marriage to me represents a time of celebrating eternal love, which I will always have for the friends I had, have, and have yet to discover. I don't plan on ever "legally marrying" for financial purposes, though I can understand why some would. (Some being the operative word, as my argument before was also encompassing a large majority of persons who marry simply FOR financial gain). Am I contradicting myself there? What I meant was that I can understand if tho people who love each other but don't feel it necessary to have a huge party because of it decide to get a "court marriage" or whatever for financial purposes. I guess, to sum up, PERSON+PERSON+LOVE=MARRIAGE, PERSON+PERSON-LOVE=NOT MARRIAGE (Divorce?)

Way to think ahead! I can STAND heels only because my first experience was for this family thing that HAD to happen and my prettiest (most NOT scary or junky) shoes were these awesome purple heeled shoes with silver lightning bolts on either side. They're awesome. Course, it was WINTER when this happened. So there I am, my first time in those shoes outside my house, desperately clinging to my brothers arm for dear life! I swear I lost count of how many times I almost DIED. It did not help that nobody wanted to drive because they all wanted to get drunk, where as I was thinking (hey, I'd LOVE to drink off my moms tab!) But noo, I had to drive. In high heels. What a night.
Haha, kinda ran off there...

@Doomfishy: I'm sure something will eventually pull you into one field more than another.
@Cloudwalker: That's cool that you want to work with the environment and saving it. Awesome.
@Fakesunshine: Yay, as long as you get chances to stop in.
I haven't even put any thought into how I want my wedding to be. I mean, there's no one I've even thought about marrying, so I guess that's part of it. It needs to small though, I don't want to invite everyone and their twice-removed cousin afterall.

Sunshine-- What do you mean by far gone. You better not be running away from me sis. Not to make this sound wierd or mushy but I joined this community in hopes of making friends, not just online-someone-to-chat-to friends, but real friends that I hope to keep in touch with and stay friends with. You'll depress me if yuou say you're abandoning me :(
Jazz-- about the canadian rules for gay marriage-- wierd XD Maybe they really want to encourage gays to get and stay married. America should really take pointers from them.
About the marriage topic-- so far I have no vision/plans for my wedding. I just don't ever see it happening for me. I've never been in a relationship yet, and at the rate I'm going, never will be :( But if I ever actually do find someone, then maybe an interest in marriage will come up. Though I guess I would be able to say that it would be some where outdoors in a natural setting (I love nature) and would be small (I hate lots of people and the noise they make) and would not be flashy in any way (I really don't like getting attention--which is another reason why I think I'll never have a wedding)

xP Well, divorce is stupid. If people really want to get married they should be prepared to never split. But, it happens... -.-

Aw, thanks Fake. I know I'll find someone eventually. I'm not to worried. I know, I'll hold my wedding on Menewsha so I can invite all my friends from here! Ha! And Doomfishy will marry us because she can do that kind of thing. I've got it all planned now. Now I just have to find someone to get married to. :3
Cloudwalker, I'm in the same boat with you. But I'm sure there is nothing to fret about. We'll both find someone, and if not we could just get married. o3o
Kidding of course.
Divorce is beyond stupid. It seems like people don't get to know each other enough before they go and get married. Then, when things don't turn out like they planned they just go and divorce each other. What a load of crock.

I actually think divorce can be really, really smart. People do change over time, and sometimes they grow apart rather than becoming closer. Yes, you have to work at a marriage, but at what point is it acceptable to concede that the only two people involved would be happier apart?
