I'd prefer 'homosexual', gay just sounds...weird. To me. I keep getting mental images of hyperactive smilies like the :squee: smiley on Mene dancing in my head when I hear the word 'gay'.

I too would personally prefer homosexual, the definition is more consistent and clear, and has seemingly always meant the same thing, unlike gay which was formerly meant to portray glee, joy, and happiness.
But all in all, for the most part, etc.I could honestly care less. It isn't really important to me, infact I'd rather not be called anything, I'm just human.
@Alexandrus Gambino- I for sure support it, and this here thread. c:

Oh yea, just remembered an interesting billboard I saw driving down the interstate. It started out as a plain black billboard and in scrawled white type it said "Discrimination is so gay"
A few weeks later there was another line underneath that one that said "Gay Right are Civil Rights"
A few more weeks after that, the final line was added, "Acceptance without Exception"
I thought it was a really cool advertisement for gay rights. I remember being so confused the first time I saw it.

Great thread ^.^
I definitely support gay marriage. Love should not depend on race, color, gender, or anything else besides the feelings of love <3

@ Cosette and Alexandrus: The first line had me dumbfounded for awhile after that. I couldn't figure out if it was an insult or support, especially because I've seen billboards around here that are against gay marriage. And wouldn't you believe the only reasoning they had on there was a quote from the bible.
Yay, more supporters. The thread is picking up. :)

LOL, back then when I was still a Protestant, I used to get disgusted at the fact that gays are never supposed to get married just because I believed that marriage is only for heterosexuals, and when I became Catholic I believed that the purpose of marriage is procreation... Then I became agnostic in college and I saw things differently... I said to myself, "Hey, gays can also be happy when they get married, so, why not side with them? I say screw marriage equals procreation, it's bad enough we're already overpopulated in this world."
Yeah, Christianity makes no sense anymore... I mean, what's worse: two guys marrying each other, or a murderer marrying a child molester?
EDIT: I just remembered. If marriage is about two individuals forming a union IN THEIR OWN CONSENT, then that just means arranged marriage should be the one abolished, and NOT homosexual marriage. :P

I support Same Sex Marriage's
I believe if two people are in love wether
their the same sex or not should have the
right and the freedom to be able to marry their spouse
Marrage is a bond of LOVE
And I support fully.
I may not be Gay but I know it would hurt
if I couldnt marry the one I loved.

I am beyond excited to see this thread. For anyone that's in WA and doesn't know, Gregoire (the governer) is going to sign and ammendment... tomorrow, that will make Domestic Partnerships have all the same legal rights and responsibilities that marriages have.
Now, I know some people have an issue with the difference between a domestic partnership and a marriage. In my world, though, I don't care if the straight community keeps the word marriage, legally. Because when I get married, I will know who my wife is. Yeah, I'm one of those special queer folk that doesn't fit into man or woman, or trans, so this is especially big for me. I am biologically a woman, so my girlfriend will eventually be my wife, and I don't care if every straight person in the world says I can't use the term married. As long as I'll be able to have children with her, and see her in the hospital, whether or not her parents like me, I'll be happy. And tomorrow, that's what is going into effect.
YAY!
қαï¢αŁαииαłα¢ïαқ
P.S. Any supporters in this thread are more than welcome to friend me!

Wow Elsa, you've gone through quite a few different views. I don't think I ever paid attention to gay marriage when I was younger.
Down with arranged marriages! I don't see how two men or two women getting married is more hurtful than forcing to people to get married. Not to say that all arranged marriages are forced, but it certainly does close of the options for the two people involved.
@Toxicmuffin: I agree completely. I can't believe how some hetero couples can think they that deserve to be married more just because they happened to fall in love with someone of the opposite sex.
The consensus seems to be that homosexuals are just homosexual so that they can promiscuous and ungodly, but if that were that case then why would they go through all the heartache of getting gay rights and wanting to get married. They're just in love like everybody else.
@KaiCalan: Wow, I can't imagine what you must be going through. It must be so exciting to finally hear the news that you can marry your girlfriend (even if the term isn't married) I don't know how close that is for you, but when the day does come that you get married I think you definitely have to come and tell this thread so we can celebrate with you.

I'm glad so many people support this. Me and Elsa are in the Philippines which is, like, an uber conservative country. We aim to change that. With music.

Well, I actually started off as a Catholic (thanks to parents) until when I was 10, I attended a Protestant school and was converted into one by their church... met my boyfriend at age 15, became Catholic, and by the time I stepped into college, I became Agnostic. Yeah, I've gone through a lot of views. Though I haven't shared this to other people. Most of them would rather talk about sports or Twilight (eew!!) rather than philosophical views.
EDIT: I actually attended that certain Protestant school when I was 5 years old but when I was in grade school was the time I got converted to Protestant.

@alexandrus: The Philippines huh? For some reason I never would have imagined it to be so conservative over there. I said this earlier, but I'm in the southern united states, which is one of the most conservative parts of the country. I was born and raised in the north (much less conservative), so it was a big surprise coming here.
@Elsa: Philosophical views are so much more interesting than football and Twilight. :talk2hand: I wasn't raised in any kind of church at all. I just was under the impression that I was some sort of Christian. Five years ago when I moved, my family decided that we had to start attending a chruch. It was nondenominational. I'm glad of that at least, it's a lot less structured and a lot more people get to attend. I stopped attending at the end of last year, and it seems my parents are now looking for a new church because the old one's goals are beginning to revolve around number of attendance rather then the real purpose.
I'm not sure exactly what I'd be considered. I see religion as something that humans created to explain the world around them. There might be something, but I don't think it's possible to know what that is.

If gays want to be married and be miserable like straight people, I say Let 'em!
Even though I can see myself happily married with a guy I know it will never happen...
Not just because of the legal restraints on Cali with the whole prop. 8 crap, but because I never thought marriage was important... In fact, I think its kinda stupid. How can a certificate prove your love? Pfft, riiight. I'm gonna remain a bachelor the rest of my life and I'm happy with it. Of course, I want other people that think marriage matters to have the opportunity to get married and find out that it doesn't. *shrugs* Cynical maybe, but still... Go Gay Marriage~
