Bain could only laugh as a response. out of all the things she could have said he hadnt expected that. "i had a friend that was irish once, he was quite a character" he said relaxing his laugh into a slight chuckle. "unfortunatly we now attend different schools and have lost touch."

"Perhaps you can see him again sometime," Ana replied as they walked. Something caught her attention out of the corner of her eye and she turned a bit to see what it was. Her eyes narrowed when she saw a very familiar face standing in the shade of one of the other trees. Seemed her sire had come for a visit. "Hey... You go on ahead," she said to Bain. "I'll see you later, alright?"

Bain paused midstep to look at her she sounded calm but... he took a quick glance around to see what would cause her to suddenly want to be alone but his eye caught quite a few people and with her head only slightly turned it was hard to see whom exactly she was watching. though he had no doubts it was another vampire she always seemed to switch moods when there was one around.

"all right... be safe" he said carfully before making his way back to his dorm room.

"I'll be alright," Ana replied. "Just... I'll come and find you later. I'll explain what's going on then." She watched him go, making sure nothing happened to him, and then she turned around. Her sire was already standing behind her, as she'd expected.

"Ana, my sweet, it's been far too long," Michael purred.

"Or not long enough," Ana replied neutrally. Wordlessly, she went into her apartment building, knowing he would follow.

"I know I taught you better than that, my sweet," Michael said as he walked into her apartment.

"Oh?" Ana replied as she toed her shoes off and sat down on her bed.

"Playing with your food," Michael clarified. "I'm certain I taught you better than that."

"And I'm certain I made it clear that I'm not a fledgeling anymore," Ana snapped back. Michaels presence always brought out her anger, without fail. He might be her sire, but he was still irritating. "I'll have you know that the human is off-limits. I have no intention of turning him into a meal." Michael's eyebrows rose.

"Such a thing will never work between you," he said. "Eventually, he will grow old and die, or you will end him before that happens, since you don't have the backbone to change anyone. You had to adopt a fledgeling," he added when Ana was about to protest, "you couldn't even turn your own."

"If you are only here to lecture me on my morals and your lack thereof, then I would ask you to leave," Ana said stiffly. "Go and bother one of the others. Francois, perhaps, or Jason." Michael looked at her, and then stood up.

"You are still just as stubborn and willful as you always have been," he snapped. "I can only hope that your human toy can handle that before you wear him out."

"Leave, Michael," Ana said. Without another word, Michael did so. Ana watched out the window to make sure he didn't go towards Bain's dorm, and then relaxed a bit. Perhaps a little later, she would pay a visit to Bain. She had to let him know it was safe again.

He felt nervous about leaving her alone though he couldn’t say why. Something about the way she had suddenly stopped… or perhaps it was the look she had had. No why he felt this way he could not say but something was setting off warnings in his head. But with a lack of training in such things as vampires there was nothing he could really do about the situation.

Sighing to himself he made his way back to his dorm room at a leisurely pace, giving himself plenty of time to think about what had happened earlier.

“hey!” caught off guard Bain looked to the source or the voice. His eyes landed on Kyle one of the guys that lived in a dorm room down the hall from him. at times they had hung out when there had been nothing better to do.

“hey” he replied in kind as he walked toward Kyle. “what’s up”

“I’m glad I caught you some of the guys are getting together at the bar tonight and we wanted to know if you wanted to join us?”

“right now” Bain asked curiously wondering how they had managed to just bump into each other.

“yea you weren’t in your dorm room so I was on my way there when I saw you” he smiled “so you in?” Bain took a minute to think about it. it wasn’t like he had anything else going on tonight and beside Ana would probably be busy for a while…

“ya I’ll join you”

Ana lounged around her room for a while after Michael left, feeling restless and anxious. She didn't like the fact that her sire was in town, especially just as she was getting to know Bain. After a while, she began to feel the stirrings of her bloodlust, so she reluctantly got up and went to her closet. She didn't feel like hitting the party-clubs tonight, so she pulled out a little black dress with a purple satin panel running down each side, overlaid with black lace. She knew which bars were vampire-friendly enough for her to feel comfortable visiting.

Locking her apartment behind her, not that it would do much against Michael if he came back, she went out to one of her favored bars.

It was a fairly tame bar, compared to her usual hunting grounds, but she wasn't up for a hunt tonight. She made her way to the bar, absently taking note of the people around her. She was surprised to see Bain at one of the tables, with who she assumed were some friends of his. Well, she wouldn't interrupt his night. Sitting down at the bar, she pulled out a twenty.

"I'd like a Bloody Virgin," she murmured to the bartender, asking for the vampire special. It wasn't advertised on the menu, so it had to be asked for specifically. She saw his eyes widen and knew that he wasn't expecting one of her kind on his shift. He recovered quickly from his shock and slight fear, though, and quickly mixed her drink. Thanking him, she handed him the twenty and took a sip of the drink. It was nice to not have to hunt, for once. She was too wound up to hunt properly, anyways.

Bain sighed inwardly. He wasn’t exactly a fan of these settings but he was grateful the they had thought to ask him so he lounged back in his chair and listened to there inane chatter. Idly he scanned the bar and paused on a few faces taking in what each was doing, then his eyes ran over Ana.

His eye brows knit in confusion. hadn’t she had something to take care of? He checked his watch and noticed the time. it had already been a few hours since he had left her. so she must be hunting then. But she didn’t look like she was hunting she looked like she was getting a drink.

“hey Bain who you lookin at” Kyle said trying to angle himself to get a view of the person Bain had been staring at. Finally seeing the lone girl at the bar he nudged Bain smiling. “she a friend of yours” he asked suggestively as the other males at the table laughed. Each one now looking over to see whom they were discussing.

Bain scowled at Kyle. “yes she is a friend” he said solidly putting an end to their joking.

“ok ok” Kyle said still smiling as he put his hands up in a defensive gesture. “just having some fun”

Bain relaxed he hadn’t meant to snap at them but he hadn’t liked the way they had acted about her. “he you guys ill see you later I’m gonna go and say hi” he said as he stood fluidly. They let a chorus of buys ring before they continued with there pervious conversation. He made his way over to Ana and sat in the stool next to her nudging her shoulder slightly as he did so.

“hey” he said as he smiled at her.

"Hey," Ana replied, tracing a fingertip around the rim of her glass. She took another sip. "I thought you were hanging out with your friends." Not that she was complaining that he'd come over to see her. She was still on edge from the visit from her sire earlier, and she was glad for the more agreeable company. "I would offer you some of my drink, but you wouldn't like it. Bloody Virgins aren't meant for your kind."

Bains eyes slide toward the glass taking in the site of its contents before settling his eyes back on Ana. "eh they'll be fine with out me" he let the silence hold for a second.

"so who caught your attention earlier?" he wasnt sure how to ask it so he figured being straight forward was the best answer.

"My sire decided to drop in for a visit," Ana replied after a moment. "I don't know why, I haven't seen him in nearly a hundred years. Perhaps he just wanted to pester me..." She sighed, running a finger around the rim of her glass, making it sing. "I wouldn't mind so much if he stuck to just annoying me... But he said some rather unpleasant things about my being friends with you."

Bains back stiffened and he couldn’t decided if it was because of anger or fear. perhaps it was both. he took a moment to steady himself focusing more on anger then on fear. fear after all would get him nowhere "really? what did he say?"

he was trying to keep emotions from his voice but sadly as it would seem he was having a hard time with such a feat.

Ana took a small sip of her drink.

"He made a few comments about how I have yet to turn a fledgling of my own," she said finally. "About how human playthings are so fragile and short-lived. And he was right, I've never felt the need to create myself a companion. But you are my friend, not a plaything, and I have no intention of making a meal of you." She sighed. "Marcus always sparks my temper, and he put me in no mood to hunt tonight."

well at least that was good to hear but he had known she didnt think of his as a meal and for that he was glad. so he was giving her a hard time because she hadnt turned anyone? was it important in vampire society? he watched her wondering if she would be upset if he asked. "im sorry"

he finally said and he was. he felt bad that she had been given a hard time because of him. "why does he want you to create a uh... fledgling?"

Getting a second drink when she'd finished her first, Ana took a sip before answering.

"He was just being obnoxious, I'm sure," she replied. "But... For one as old as I am, not having any fledglings of my own blood is unusual. Many of my siblings have already turned their first fledglings, perhaps even their second, but I have none. I adopted Veronica as my own, but we have no blood in common. Besides, she is more of a sister than a daughter." She ground her teeth a bit thinking about what her sire had said to her. "Marcus was trying to get under my skin, calling you my human toy and saying that I would eventually break you or drain you. And it worked. I can only hope he doesn't stay in the area long."

"don’t let it bother you" he finally said as he laid his hand on hers. "obviously you don’t see me as a toy and I’m not to easily breakable" he said smiling hopping to take away some of her anxiety. "I’m sure he'll be gone before you know. i mean he wouldn’t just travel here to harass you... would he?"

His hand was warm on hers, almost hot, but it wasn't uncomfortably so.

"You might be durable by human standards," she replied, "but to my kind, you may as well be glass." She sighed and set her glass down. "He said I was stubborn, and willful... Which is most likely true, but still... He told me once that he turned me for that reason, so I would be able to keep the others in line while he was away. He failed to take into account that I was more stubborn in wanting my freedom than he was in wanting to keep me. Maybe he's just waiting for me to slip up."

Bain stiffened slightly. he had figured that to be truth but he hadn’t expected her to be so blunt about it. as she continued to talk he tore his mind way from dark thought to listen to her.

"keep you? you make it sound like he thinks of you like a pet." her mood darkened considerably when he though about his next words. "what do you mean by slip up... do you mean he's going to force you to go with him?" he did not like that idea at all and he knew he was only human but he was damn sure that this sire of hers was not going to make her go anywhere

"He wouldn't be able to force me to go anywhere," Ana replied. "He learned that when I left the first time." She sighed. "But... I think perhaps he's waiting for me to slip and kill someone again." Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the bartender tense and take a few steps away from her, and she ignored him. "If that happens, I'll need to move again." She hesitated, then added softly, "It's happened in the past."

his eyes widened. he knew it was a possability... no strike that, he knew for certain that she had to have killed someone. she had been a vampire for a long time he was sure mistakes were made. he was just surprised that she had confided such a thing to him. seeing the bartender shift nervously he shot him a glare that made the man focuse on someone else before he looked back at Ana.

"its been a long time sence you... did that though right? so there should be no reason to think that it will happen. i'm sure youv got 'it' undercontrol" he used the word 'it' because he wasnt sure what to call it when they were in such and area, with people around.

"It's been about a hundred years," Ana replied. "I make sure to keep it under control, but... I'm not perfect. I know it might happen again, so I work to make sure it won't." She gave a half-hearted laugh. "Remind me to tell you, sometime, when there aren't so many people around. I've heard it's quite the story, although I only know it secondhand." Finishing her drink, she laid a five on the counter, as a sort of apology to the bartender for scaring him, and as a tip for her drinks. "I need something that doesn't taste like alcohol, so I'm going to go for a 'walk'."

slightly confused yet interseted in this story that she brough up he could only nod and give her a warm farewell before she left him for the night. he knew she needed some time alone and he was willing to give her that... at least until tomorrow. after his goodbye he bid his dorm mate goodnight and headed out for a night time walk himself hoping to rid himeslf of bad thoughts.

Gracefully, Ana got up and left the bar. She was craving a meal fresh from the vein, and she wasn't going to find it in a bar or a club. She'd had enough of the taste of alcohol for a while. Carefully, she loosened her hold on her predatory side and started to hunt.

Three donors later, she made her way back to her dorm. She was feeling a bit better after hunting, though she wasn't feeling human-like enough to turn the lights on when she got into her apartment. Moving about her room in the darkness, she changed out of her little black dress and into something more comfortable. As she curled up on her bed and let herself shut down for a while, she was glad that Marcus wasn't hanging around her room waiting for her.

it was getting late and he knew that, but there was to much on his mind for him to be able to go back to his dorm and get some shut eye. so after what seemed like hours he finally turned in the direction of his bed. he was exhausted and quite a few strange characters had approached him, though now that he had me Ana he was pretty sure that they had been vampires well at lease two had been. it was curious though that none had tried anything with him... or had he and he not realized it... no he remember each instant for he was pretty sure nothing had happened.

but now he was exhausted and the sun would be coming up soon, which mean he spent another night awake. it would seem he was becoming a creature of the night. he chuckled softly at his own musings. today he decided he would miss class to get the sleep he craved.

When Ana woke up, the sun was struggling to get around her blackout curtains, though her loft apartment was already dimly lit. A quick glance at her clock confirmed that it was almost noon.

"I slept that late?" she wondered as she got up and showered. She didn't necessarily need the shower, but the hot water still felt good and helped raise her skin temperature to somewhere closer to human normal. Since she'd slept so late, it was pointless to try to make her classes that day, so she decided to go out and relax a little in the shade of the residential buildings.

he had slept in till one in the afternoon. to tell the truth he wasn’t at all surprised. feeling more awake then he had in a while he took a shower then grabbed something quick to eat before he set out. once he reached the streets he took in a fresh breath of air admiring the way the world felt in that instant. everything felt so calm and the people passing by seemed to be relaxed. he wished he could feel the same. anxiety rushed threw his body as the nights events passed threw his mind.

he wanted to know more about Ana's sire, but it seemed to be a very touchy subject with her and he guessed it didn’t help that he had entered town. he couldn’t decide if he wanted to seek her out or give her space. finally settling on giving her some space he made his way to the small shops in town.

he browsed for a while until he came to a small out of place shop. his interest spiked and he entered cautiously. inside was dark with a few soft lamps giving off an eerie glow. the shop was full of all sorts of items that ether looked to be antiques or replicas of such items you would find in medieval fantasy. he found quite a few things that caught his eye but one thing in particular caught his attention.

it was a necklace, it gold chain looked delicate but upon closer inspection it looked like it was made to last. but the pendent that hung from it was what really caught his eye. it was a sapphire sculpted into a crescent moon with thin veins of gold intricately placed all around it, in the craves of the moon was a very small women. with long wavy hair and an ancient looking dress. he had never seen anything like it and instantly wondered if Ana would like it.

deciding that he would give it a shot he bought the necklace from the curious shop owner. once he left the shop he found that his ominous thoughts were back upon him sighing he made his way toward the park hoping to find a way to relax his troubled mind.
