"Well..." Ana hesitated, but knew she had to explain. "It's similar to the old-style way of creating blood slaves, just toned way down. I have to give you a little of my blood, perhaps a drop or so... It will tie you to me temporarily, though I'm not sure exactly how long it will last." She knew very well that he would probably back out, but she kept explaining. "It will let others of my kind know that you are spoken for, so to speak, so they aren't allowed to touch you."

bain was quiet for a long time until he finally replied. it was a lot to take in really. he would have to drink a drop of her blood? wow that in itself kinda freaked him out but he was willing to give it a shot if it meant going with her. well the good thing about the whole thing was he wouldn’t have to worry about the other vampires trying to suck his blood now all he'd have to worry about is what they thought of him...

with his mind made up he spoke a little hesitantly. "only a drop right" his voice changed to determination "ill do it, i really would like to see this old world"

"You would?" Ana asked, surprised. She had thought he would be disgusted with being tagged. "I'll warn you, if the bond fades before we leave, I'll have to renew it." Already, she was planning what gowns to bring, which house to stay in... Money was no real object, since she had some favors she could call in by way of transportation and appropriate formal clothing for Bain... She could already feel herself anticipating the return to the old world, even if it was only for a short time. To be amongst others her own age would be wonderful, even if she had to tolerate some of the less pleasant ones.

Bain smiled it seemed like she was happy and he hoped she was. "yes" he said "i would love to go with you" he was surprised himself how calm he seemed. he felt excited, nervous, happy and apprehensive all at the same time. his eyes shifter from her to their surroundings and noticed that they were back on school grounds. he checked his watch before stopping and turning to her.

"unfortunately looks like i got to but maybe ill see you tonight?" he asked hopefully he was almost sure that she was getting sick of him by now but better ask then regret it later.

Ana nodded.

"Of course," she said. "My door is always open for you." She grinned a little. "Try not to daydream too much, alright?" she teased. Once he was on his way to class, she made her way back to her room, intent on contacting some of her old acquaintances to start setting up the trip. She already knew which gown she wanted to bring... Or perhaps she would commisson a new one. She would have to have something nice made for Bain, but he needed to be measured for it. Ana's dressmaker already had her measurements.

while taking notes Bain couldn't help but let his mind wander back to events that had taken place earlier that day and to events the would take place soon. he was a little nervous to say the least, about being around so many vampires but hopefully because he would be 'tagged' the night would go without incident. he looked back down at his blank sheet of paper where there should have been a page of notes on it then sighed heavily as he directed hi focus back to the teacher. well it would seem he would get a low grade on his next test...

After what seemed like centuries his classes finally ended though he hadn’t gotten a thing done in any of them which meant lots of homework. He was almost kicking himself for it but he was having a hard time concentrating. Heading back to his dorm room he decided to finish at least one of his assignments before heading to Ana's

After sending off the emails that she needed to, Ana settled on her bed and started on some of her homework. The work was ridiculously easy, but it was something for her to focus on so that she wouldn't keep thinking about how handome Bain was when he smiled, and how adorable he looked when he was thinking about something. When she realized what she was doing, she did a double take. Was she actually starting to have feelings for him? If her heart were still beating, it would have missed one.

Yes, she thought she was starting to have feelings for him.

it had taken him a while but he was finally finished he had even been able to finish two of his projects. quickly stuffing a beagle in his mouth he headed out the door proceeding at Ana's. he wasn’t sure what they'd be doing tonight or what he would be learning for that matter but it didn’t really seem to mater to him he was just happy to be seeing her.

((Two months, if it's the beginning of October right now))

Ana was just finishing up her homework when she heard Bain's familiar footsteps out in the hallway, and then the knock on her door.

"It's open," she called, gathering her books and papers to put them away. Absently, she glanced at her calendar. Just under a month until her birthday rolled around again... Reaching over, she circled the day with a pen. Not that she was going to forget it any time soon.

hearing her response to his knocking he slowly opened the door and peeked inside before he fully made his way into her apartment. Noticing that she was looking at something he made his way over to her to see what it was she was focused on only to find himself staring at a calendar his eyes scanned it quickly until he noticed the circle.

"what’s going on that day?" after he said it he wanted to kick himself, it always seemed like questions with him. perhaps he would have to try and be more tactful around her.

"Hm?" Ana asked. "Oh, the day I circled?" She smiled. "I told you I was born on All Hallow's Eve. Halloween is my birthday. Well," she ammended, "my original one. The anniversary of my turning is in March." Moving her things, she made room for him to sit down on the couch. "I would offer you something, but I'm still not quite used to human company... I keep forgetting to go shopping. Things have changed over the years. I don't think I've ever been inside a modern supermarket."

Bain looked closer at the date feeling foolish as he just realized it was October already. "that’s right Halloween is coming up" he said more to himself then to her. turning around he followed her over to the couch and took a seat. "that’s ok don’t worry about me." after a moment of thought he almost invited to take her to supermarket just to show her what one was like nowadays. he almost smiled at the thought but decided against it, he didn’t want to make her think she needed to provide things for him.

"so what are you planning to do for your birthday?"

"I'm going to try to keep a low profile, for one," Ana replied. "I come from a time when birthdays weren't such a big deal, so I'm not used to big parties. Veronica, on the other hand... I wouldn't put it past her to invite some of the others to celebrate, and not all of them are as discrete with their hunting as I am." She would probably dress up for the occasion... After all, a traditional witch costume on Halloween would be both appropriate and ironic.

Bain eyed her carefully. so she didn’t like parties he couldn’t say he was surprised she didn’t really seem like she would like to be the center of attention. then he wondered if he was allowed to be with her on her birthday. deciding he would ask later, or just show up, he wasn’t quite sure which one he preferred yet.

"yea I’m not that big of a party fan myself" he commented after a moment. "I almost always feel out of place." then he smiled "so i shouldn’t tell veronica when your birthday is huh?" he asked teasingly.

Ana smiled and rolled her eyes.

"Well, now that you know my birthday," she said, "when is yours?" That way, she could get him something instead of being blindsided and not having anything for him. "For some reason, I want to say your birthday is in March sometime, but I could very easily be wrong." She grinned. "Telepathy is sadly not one of my powers."

his smile only widened when she rolled her eyes. he chuckled lightly at her comment before answering "well your right about one thing you are not a mind reader but you are close my birthday is actually April 14" he leaned back slightly shifting his head up in thought. "i'm not sure what i'm going to be doinf for my next birthday i'll probably have to go back home to visit my family" he sighed at the thought he loved his family but really it was a hassle to drive to far for a couple of days.

"Where does your family live?" Ana asked. She could tell that it must be a chore for him to go home. She would offer to drive for him, but she would never invite herself along, especially for something as important as a birthday. "It must be terrible, having to stop so often on a long trip..."

"yea..." he said trailing off slightly "they live two states over" he pointed to the east. "honestly i hate the drive and i'm not a fan of flying so really its a hassle though i dont get to see them very often to i guess its a good thing i go" he took a sideways glance at her. "it would be nice to have some company... maybe you could join me one of these times"

"Really?" Ana asked. "You would want me to go with you?" That surprised her. She would think he wouldn't want something like her around his family. She would definitely have to stock up on blood bags to take with her. Of course, she would also be able to make the drive go faster, since she didn't have to stop to sleep or anything of the sort.

he could hear the surprise in her voice and hoped it was a happy surprised and not an 'oh my god no' surprise. "yea id love to have you drive with me. it would give me some one to annoy with all my questions" he said playfully. "besides i'm sure i'm not the only one that needs to get away every once in a while"

"I'd be glad to go with you," Ana replied. "Perhaps I could drive for you, in return? Fewer stops that way, as I could drive through the night. Unless, of course, you would rather make stops at night, wherein I could pay for hotel rooms..." And she was rambling. She couldn't remember the last time she rambled like this... She considered herself far too old to be flustered like this, but she was acting like she really was nineteen again.

Bain could only stare at her was she acting nervous? slightly fascinated at this turn of events he decided to poke fun to see what she would do. "that would be fine if you drove all the way through. but i am curious... why would you want a hotel room?" he was hoping to make her more flustered but he figured with the way he had said it he may have saved her some grace only choosing to smile as he said it.

"You're trying to make me blush," Ana accused. She knew he was trying to poke a bit of fun at her for rambling. "I'm afraid it won't work, I haven't been able to blush since I was nineteen." She grinned teasingly. "Although there have been more mischevious beings than you who have tried to make me blush. But no, I meant that if you didn't feel like sleeping in the car, it would be no trouble to rent a room somewhere for a night."

he smiled at her he had known it was useless but at least he had tried. "I’ve no trouble sleeping in the car but i would feel bad about you having to drive the entire way so ill get us a hotel room somewhere in between here and there” he then leaned back thinking. “so I’m not the only one who’s tried huh. Somehow that does not surprise me” he said eyeing her through the corner of his eye."

Ana waved a hand.

"One of my old friends is an Irishman, and he actually has a decent sense of humor when he keeps his jokes clean," she explained. "It's the not-so-clean jokes that he prefers, though, and he does his best to make me blush." She rolled her eyes. "The Fair Folk tend to do that, I've learned."
