Oh jeez I haven't given birth yet myself and I still struggle to lose weight. I don't think I want to add that kind of stress on me anytime soon that's for sure!
Now I know why I don't go to Ponderosa. I felt kinda bad as we didn't tip the waitress either, but at that point I felt so ill I walked out and to the car without thinking of it then. Aaron gave the kids his last $7 to get icecream and I normally don't keep money on me anyways. Lets just say we won't be going back any time soon...

I don't find anything so remarkable about that . . .
It's not like 40 is all that old.
Now, getting pregnant in your 60s. That would impress me.

But getting pregnant in your 60s there's a good chance you won't live to see your child get married.
I remember hearing about the oldest woman to get pregnant and I had a few issues with that. The first being that there are so many children needing homes now, why didn't she adopt rather than go through a lot of medical treatment to do it, and also as I said there's a good chance they'll die before the child is old enough to leave the nest. I wouldn't want to leave my child before then. I know it's still possible at any age that you'll die before your child hits the age of 20, but I wouldn't want to make it any greater as that would be so difficult on the child. :(

I think there is a law that states you're not allowed to adopt after a certain age. Mostly like 60 years is beyong that law.

Ahh didn't think about that. You'd think that the law would be the same for having kids...but I guess they can't really regulate that can you? I mean it'd be really traumatic for the child to loose their parents at such a young age, not to mention I can imagine a baby being pretty demanding on someone of that age.... :O

I wouldn't say it was particularly impressive, just a bit stunned since we thought it wasn't possible any longer - according to dad's doctor. Regardless, we were pretty stoked! Now, I also have to add that we do the odd run to DQ... so I can't blame it all on the baby!
There are a few people in their 60s that had to take over custody of their grandkids - they became the parents since the biological parents were completely out of the picture. Think that would be difficult to deal with at that age.

Well I'm definitely an old fart at 57 so I guess this would be a fun place to post. I noticed a bit of the discussion going on. I am helping raise my grandson.. Mt freind has custody of her grandson too. But I really don't think there is a law like that, limiting tha age a person can adopt. And after all a man can father a child at almost any age.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, if you end up taking custody of a child despite being older I just think for those who are contemplating adopting or giving birth to a child that age that perhaps it isn't in the best interest for the child or yourself. I do think that grandparents who do take custody of their children should be given a lot of respect though, as it's obvious that there were good reasons behind it. The state wouldn't allow it otherwise...
*sighs* I think we could provide better for my step kids then their real mom, but unless she either willingly signs off her rights or does something terribly wrong in order to get them revoked we're out of luck. :(

Well that is actually how my son finally got custody. I won't go into details but his ex is in jail awaiting trial. And what she is accused of is rather terrible. I hope it isn't true, but I'm afraid it is.

Oh Jeez Sai. I hope she hasn't done anything to mess with the child physically or emotionally. Hubby's ex hasn't done anything severe enough to have her custody revoked, and we'd play hell trying to get the kids. It's unfortunate. Especially since they both live in the living room of her boyfriend's house. We only have the one bedroom for the both of them, but at least they have a bedroom. The couch is their bed at their mom's.
I just got back from the festival in town. We had a lovely day. First we went to the parade, then wandered through the arts and crafts booths. We dropped off stepdaughter's friend then went to the park where they were having a giant flea market. We got a bunch of small goodies for the house including some really cool windchimes, home made potpourri and some home made hand lotion from one of his workmate's wifes. It is lime and cranberry and it smells so delicious I want to eat it.
Oh yay and my couch cover came in the mail today. I paid 18 bucks in total for it and 10 bucks alone in shipping. It's in near new condition with two matching pillows. Finally my ugly couch is covered!

Hey there Irk3n! It's been kinda quiet around here...Been trying to get myself enrolled in the local community college.
Kinda already found a fork in the road -- they don't do any Paralegal studies there. :|

No thank God she didn't do anything to him. But what she did do was really bad even if she didn't commit the original offense.
She claims her estranged (3rd) husband did it but even if he did, what she did afterwards to conceal it was nearly as bad.
The trial is next month .

Yay there is someone who's still lurking around here! :)
I went out last night with hubby to watch the fireworks and listen to the Beatles cover band. We got to sit with one of his high school buddies and they sat and talked to each other, catching up. In over two years we've been together he's only gotten together with him twice now. It's a shame as when they were in school they were like brothers. What's sadder still is they live like a mile inbetween them!
We're trying to hatch a plan today. He wants to go out and see a movie, I want to fire up the BBQ. I think we might strike a compromise of sorts...I'll have to fill you in. :)

Lessee.
Well, I got the second job I was looking for, at a bookstore.
Found a way to remember when payday is, but now job #1 for some odd reason isn't even sending out pay stubs anymore, so I have no idea what they're paying me, whether I got my annual raise or not.
Fall is knocking at the door here, which I love, but I'm kind of sad that growing season is over. Not sure what to do with the two basil plants I sowed this year.
Might go out and try to find myself a Rubbermaid storage tub, or at least a very large container, for compost. Want to get a head start on good soil for next year's plantings.
Um.
Sister will be gone on the 26th this month, to travel the world for who knows how long.
That is all.

Yummm Chinese....!
We went over to hubby's mom's today in an attempt to get her to join us for a BBQ, but failed as she said she wanted an easy day in and Pat (her longterm boyfriend) was already piss drunk and passed out on the couch. Ever since he's lost his job he's been going down hill. He's tried to detox at least twice that we know of, with no luck. Hubby's mom says next detox will be done at the hospital. We all know he'll be back on the bottle as soon as he gets a chance though...until both of them quit drinking it's going to be futile...*sigh*
Well anyways, she gave us a bunch of coupons, including some McD's for a free smoothie. They're surprisingly really yummy. We also got a couple buy one get one free sandwich coupons. Hubby's mom works for the local newspaper and is always getting some of the best coupons from the paper. (Without us having to buy it. :P) I'll have to ask her if she can snag a couple more of those smoothie coupons!!
Oh and we went to the store to pick up a couple things. Hubby wants me to wear makeup more and I was needing some conceler and blush/highlighter. I pissed him off pretty bad when I took more than 10mins to browse the cosmetics isle and was threatening to go out and wait in the car. He then gave me $10 to try and see if I could find what I wanted at the local meijer where according to him I spent 45mins there trying to find what I needed. Well the L'oreal was on promo, but I found out the hard way it was you had to buy the liquid foundation to get the free product or buy one eye shadow or lip gloss get one free...I couldn't mix and match and I really only wanted my blush/highlighter. I finally found what I needed but it was $9.99...I had exactly $10 so I had to run back out to the car and get the extra .60 cents from hubby. (He swung by McD's to get the smoothies then hung out in the car while I took my time...)
I think I'm also banned from buying anymore toys online for awhile. I ordered a couple of things I thought were going to be fairly cheap as they were $2, $9, and $7...however since I ordered them from Yahoo Japan through my contact I have to pay him $5 per auction, any bank transaction fees from him paying for the item, the shipping to his house and then the shipping to me. When it's all said and done it'll probably be an easy $60.... Hubby got his abatement back and we've been fairly well off so I thought I was in the free and clear. Hubby is annoyed, but he said as long as I promise to stay away from Yahoo Japan auctions or Ebay I'm fine. *sits on hands*
Oh and I'm slowly getting all my stuff around to go back to school to get my medical assistant certificate in hopes to get my foot in the door at a hospital and work my way up. *fingers crossed*
Also, stepson has surgery on 28th to do a bone graft. He has a bone cyst that has been growing with him and it's gone from about the size of a dime to a golf ball - they're going to do a bone marrow transfusion and then pin his bone up and hope it heals. He keeps on breaking that same arm and without it they're afraid he's never going to properly heal...

Hiya. What a cute thread, this is the sort of thread I like. You don't mind if I join you do you?
Urgh, stressed to the max today, so nice to finally chill out. I get two days off a week, Tuesday and Sunday, Sundays are for family and Tuesday is mine. I was going to do the housework and then chill watching the day time TV like Jeremy Kyle and the likes but change of plan. All three of my kids decided to say they were ill, I admit they did look poorly and what with all the flu and that going around I decided not to chance it and kept them off, by ten in the morning they were fine.
That had annoyed me enough but then when my sister came round with more marital problems she was going to sort it out so I had to look after her two year old son as well. She only came to get him at half six so I had him for the whole day!
Thank god the girls are in their rooms now.
How was your day?

Hi Shazza, pleased to meet you!
Some days this place is a little busier than others. I'm guessing that this is a particularly busy period in most people's lives with school starting back up and all. I've noticed a lot of my other haunts slowing down.
I'm doing rather well. I got all my laundry washed and hung up on the line. Well there's a few stragglers I'm throwing in the dryer...which reminds me to change it over. Thanks! I also got something in the crock pot earlier today, so I'm going to have less work to do tonight. I'm still contemplating what else to serve up with it. I still have a sink load of dishes to wash, the kitchen counters to wipe down and the floors need swept and mopped.
I just got back from hanging out with the neighbor at her house, and petting her lovely lap cat. We sat and shot the breeze for a good 2 hours and I headed back home as it's time for her to pick up her little boy. I'm so excited for her as she's giving birth in February and I'm so looking forward to seeing her new kid. I told her I'll have to come over and spend time with it and then when I'm tired out I'll go home. I love kids and all, but I love my quiet times too that I know I'd be stressed out if I had my own. Maybe one day.
I'm looking forward to my husband coming home too. I do get a bit lonely at times too. It's hard to find a happy medium, isn't it?
That stinks you got a babysitting duty for that long. Also sucks it was on your one day to yourself and everyone else decided to have a sick day. Now you'll have to wait another week before you'll get another chance. :(
