Hmm... that reminds me of the oldsmobile that my dad had... I learned to drive in that car, and when I got my license I wanted it... but my dad gave me my Pappi's sunbird instead. I learned to love that little thing.

No, my dad only did like the four year stint or whatever. It was before i was even born, but after that he got into welding which he did for nearly the rest of his life. My dad died because his heart was week, and just up and quit one day. :( Had nothing to do with the Military. But, Military service is very popular in my family... we even have ancestors who fought in the civil war. :roll:

@Thoth: Eh, I bought the Imp as a restoration project. Unfortunately, I never seemed to have the time or money at the same time to actually make enough progress on the car to make it street-legal. So, it was taking me a long time to fix the Imp up. Anyway, one of the neighbors got pissed off at my parents because he thought they called the city on him for his dogs Which they didn't). So, to get back at them, he called the city on them because of my car sitting in the driveway with expired tags. The city told them that I had 10 days to fix the car, get it out of sight, or get rid of it. Fixing it in 10 days was impossible, and there wasn't enough room in the garage for the long-assed Imp. So the only other option I had was to get rid of the car. :XP I really wish I had at least kept the engine/tranny out of the car. Both were really rare (327 v-8 with double-hump racing heads and a Powerglide tranny). :(

Yeah, my dad was like the "neighborhood mechanic" type. Always fixing cars. My S-10 has been sitting for two years. It needs all the fluids changed and the brakes... little stuff. But, it also needs a lot of body work, and I'd really like to put a better engine and transmission in it.

Yeah, My dad, his first wife, my mom, my Dad's parents, my great grandma on my mom's side, one of my Uncle's (I have like 6 on my dad's side alone, and my mom was one of like 7 girls), I was supposed to have an older sister... so, yeah... lot's of funerals... I'm sorry to hear about your uncle though.

I don't have the money to take it to a garage and frankly I don't trust them! I can actually take care of the little things by myself when I get some money, I'll let Dimi do the rest of the work. That's the down-side of being raise by a mechanic in south-western Pa. With very few exceptions, all work is done "in-house" and junk yards are the preferred place to find parts. :D
