I've been gone for a long while. Why? Because I got hooked on Gaiaonline. :sweat: heh heh...
The first time I introduced myself, I was mostly into German bands, and just getting into the happy hardcore genre. Right now, I'm mostly into alternative rock and melodic pop (like Scissor Sisters or Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Don't get me wrong; I still LOVE my German bands to death.
There's two movies I can't wait to see. In general, I'm not interested in movies... excepting the HP series (HP:HBP ftw). That's one movie that has me excited. The other is Brüno. The trailers for that movie made me facepalm soooo good. XD
Not so much into novels as I am into comics at the moment. Haven't read any good ones recently though. Within the few months, I attained Watchmen at least. I think it's superior to the new movie, but that's just me.
You may have noticed I'm still in my undies by now. Ignore that.
Anyone have any good suggestions for items to buy here?

Welcome back! Gaia does have an ability to suck you in~ But... now you are free of its unholy grasp? :'D
I'm looking forward to the new HP movie, but I can't say the same about Brüno. I'm not a fan of Sacha Baron Cohen's humour, but I can respect what he does. As for Watchmen, I have no idea if the comic or the movie was better... mostly because the comic's ending threw me for such a loop. XD Although I guess the comic affected me more emotionally, so maybe it's better? What did you like about it compared to the movie?
I'm pretty new, so I don't really have any suggestions for what you could buy, but have you tried the MAC? When I was on Gaia I used to play with Tektek all the time, so I love the MAC. :3
Hope to see you around from now on~ :)
Oh, and P.S.: your signature is interesting. I had no idea that verdict existed in Scotland.

Well, Welcome back Aisteach!
I hope you stick around here this time... I came from gaia after being a member there since 04.. Unfortunately I lost the spark after they became too comercialised... But thats good. :) Means more time for Mene, amongst other things.
Ohh. You like Scissor Sisters? They are one of my favourite bands. :lol:
Well, I look forward to seeing you as an active member...

Welcome back! :3
I like Scissor Sisters - or, I liked the last stuff I heard from them. I've sort of gotten out of my music kick due to a lot of changes in how I spend time at the computer, so I haven't heard much in awhile. :/ Once I get back on a regular program, so to speak, I'll probably pick it back up. :)
I'm curious if there's a reason you came back to Menewsha? Or did you just find it in your bookmarks and go, "Oh hey..." XD

@PandaPon
Yes... and no, on the Gaia thing. It's fun to collect stuff from the Daily Pickup thing, and then sell it at my store to help buy new outfits... but I find the profile layout here more concise and organized. Gaia profiles seem to be full of fat, but not much meat. Ya know?
What did you like about it compared to the movie? The comic was largely nostalgic for me, since I used to go through my father's old comics. He was into War stories, Westerns, the Hulk, and Ironman. I used to prefer reading the Amazing Spider-man and the Uncanny X-men myself. Also, there's the format: How you have the artist and writer's original vision sitting there in your hands. Much easier to skip to and back between pages, reading at your own individual pace. The artwork itself I can't comment on, since I've never read anything from the 80's before: only the 70's, 90's, and a handful of 00's. Western hemisphere sequentials, that is. With comics, you get to imagine the sound effects, voices, and... even your own background music if you want. I suppose it's the sense of flexibility and intimacy you get from reading that captures me.
It was equally fun to watch all the characters come to life via film. That format allows for you and all your friends to enjoy the scenes together in real time. To see fiction become reality. Something that can't be achieved through books. Both medias have their strengths... but I'm mostly on my own much of the time.
Never heard of the MAC. The only thing that comes to mind with that word are MAC notebooks. XD I'm gonna have to give them a look. Thanks!
Thanks. It's a Scottish joke that holds some ring of truth to it. One of the things you pick up when you're a geek for kilts. :P Another quote goes along the lines of "There's two seasons in Scotland: Winter, and June." It's amazing what you can learn when you dig deep.
@Rosebleed
I have the tendacy to leave for long periods of time after being super obsessed with a site for a few straight days. :sweat: I'll likely be gone again for a while, but then I'll return of course. And my time here shall be glorious. I just... don't know what to do. >.> Give my avatar a tan?
Oi, Gaia. What they're doing now is annoying. They're shoving Skittles and Sour Patch Kids in everyone's face. -__-; What's next: Gummi Bears?
The Scissor Sisters are heavenly~ Some of my fave songs by them are: "I Can't Decide", "Take Your Momma Out Tonight", and "I Don't Feel Like Dancing". You might just like Mika as well. A lot of his songs are upbeat. Mika's "Big Girl, You Are Beautiful" reminds me a lot of a song Queen did. "Ring Ring" is also a good one.
I'll try to be as active as I can while I'm focused here. You could say I'm slightly OCD, yet easily distracted. XD What things do you like doing here?
@CK
From what I can tell watching MTV, it seems like the 80's feel is coming back into trend. Jeans are getting colorful, tees are becoming neon or retro... In fact, my sis got this tanktop-dress thing for her birthday recently, and it's EXACTLY like something Cyndi Lauper would've worn back then. Personally, I think that's awesome, because I've always loved that decade best in terms of music and trends.
Do you have iTunes? I hear it's really easy to sample music from there, even if you don't have an iPod.
When I listen to some Scissor Sisters cuts, I usually end up listening to these songs right after as well. For some reason, they go well together for me with their "I Can't Decide".
"Spitting Venom" - Modest Mouse
"This Scene is Dead" - We Are Scientists
"Church of Hot Addiction" - Cobra Starship
"Pinoy Aiko" - Orange and Lemons
"Ich eine Junge War" - Fraulein Wunder (Can't seem to remember the umlaut codes here...)
There's no specific reason I came back here, really. I was going through a document where I keep all of my username/passwords for different sites, and I came upon "Aisteach". There was a site missing where I had registered with this username... and then I remembered the blond guy in the grey hat. So I was like "Heeeeeey... Let's see how much the place has changed since I've been gone."
But I had forgot the name of that missing site (Menewsha). I knew it started with "M", had a "sha" at the end, and sounded like "meow" in the middle. I kept saying "meow" until it turned into "new", and everything clicked. I've generally quite liked the gold gaining system, and the character designs.
So, to be clear: I'll leave again, eventually. I'm here for now, and I'll take advantage of that. Just know that when I do leave, I'll come riiiiiiiight back sometime later. I'M GOING TO ENJOY MYSELF WHILE I'M HERE.
Blame it on the weird OCD/Easily distracted thing I have going on. :o

Long reply back at'cha. XD Or at least, not a tiny one. I'm too sleepy to textwall properly. XD If you'd caught me earlier in the day, maybe. ;3
re: MAC
You'll find that in the Avatar Chat forum if you hadn't already looked. :3
re: Gaia
Yeah, their marketing/promotions thing they're doing right now is turning a lot of people off. If you're ever feeling bored, screenshot their front page and black out every section where they try to sell you someone else's product. Then in a different color, cover over where they try to sell you something they're selling. Not much content left after that. This holds true on most of their landing pages, actually.
re: 80's comeback
LOL. Yeah, I've seen that, actually. Some of the styles they have are really fun and I sort of miss them. Others I'm pretty glad to see go. I'm not generally one for day-glo colors, though. >_>
It always amuses me to see these kids go ga-ga over these "new tends".... as they're usually not "new trends" and more like a revival of some of the best (and sometimes worst) fashion trends from 10+ years ago. If they took the trouble to learn some fashion and costume history, they'd improve their fashion sense. IMHO;etc
re: music
I think I have iTunes downloaded onto my desktop computer, but I never used it. I only downloaded it so I could load some songs onto an iPod a friend loaned me for my trip to Japan. (He later gave me it, as it was old and he didn't need it, but I don't have the power cord to go to it and haven't bought a new one.) I'm completely blanking out on what music networking site I use. >_>; It's on the other computer and I'm too lazy to go dig up the URL by going through various profiles I have online. >_>;
I'm going to have to check out the songs you mentioned, though. I think I have that Modest Mouse song and I certainly have the Cobra Starship song, so I'd probably like the others. :)
re: Returning & leaving Menewsha
A lot of people seem to come back by looking through the sites they have bookmarked or, I suppose, their password lists and going, "Oh hey - I'd forgotten about there!" But others have found us by getting an email from us or seeing us when we went to a convention or their friends mentioned it or something. :3 I'm always curious what it was.
I'm glad you come back and like the gold earning and character designs. XD In the next few months we're meant to get new features. And next month sometime we're going to have an event. Not sure if you've been around to participate in those, but they're worth checking out because you get free items. And the new commons are half-off during the event. :) Lots of people are really active during events too.
No worries about wandering off and returning. ;) A lot of our members are the same way. They play hardcore for a few days or weeks and then wander off for that long or longer. Wax; rinse; repeat. XD

MAC: >8DD
Sounds like I've got something fun to do then~<3
Gaia: ... Hmm... I'm gonna have to stick to reading their comic and managing my shop then. It's really all I do anyways. It makes me wonder what will eventually happen to that site...
Fashion:
At least that decade's rap style isn't back. I hope. :o "It's tricky to rap a rhyme that's right on time~" XD
I suppose the only people who would fit that category are history nuts and fantasy fanatics. Only their minds are focused on their particular pet interest.
Music:
Ya gotta love it when you find others with similar tastes in music as you~ :insane: (You could call me a cheater though, since I like about 80-90% of all songs I've ever heard anyway)
I hope you do. Nothing makes me happier than helping out others or making others happy. :)
Events:
I was around for the October event last year, even though I didn't actively participate. Halloween's my fave holiday too. XD; I'll try to stay long enough to see this new one though.
You've got me immensely curious about what the new features will entail...

@Aisteach: CK already explained to you about the MAC, so I'll leave of my ramble about that. All I'll say is that, like Tektek, I find it very addictive. XD;;
I haven't read very many comics at all, so I don't have the nostalgia, but it must be nice. I agree about the flexibility - you can use your imagination a lot more than with a film. I guess that makes the comic a slightly more personal experience than the film... And I completely understand what you mean when you say both media have their merits! Although it's a rare opinion, I feel that way about most comic- or book-to-movie adaptations. ...Excepting the Harry Potter movies. I am so hard on those when I compare them to the books. XD
My grandparents on my mum's side are Scottish and I have family around Edinburgh, but I don't know very much about Scotland at all. I've only been there once. I guess I ought to know more about my heritage, haha. ;;

Aye. I suppose it's because I read the paper versions first rather than the films? When you go from paper-to-film, and really enjoyed the book/comic, there's a good chance you'll be disappointed in some way. At the point you get to watching the movie, you're already decided how the characters should sound and move. A problem you don't get when you watch the movie first, and then read the book! =P
Don'tcha ever just feel like pulling out a HP book whenever you're watching one of the movies, just to keep track of the things they didn't include? XD
And then, after HBP, there's the DH! Double the package with twice the film length! Hopefully, the holy grail out of all the HP films~
Only if you're interested in learning about your heritage. :P When I was younger, I wasn't even remotely into Scots, even though both sides of my family have the blood of the land flowing through them. It was something that developed as I grew older. So there's no need to shed any tears just yet. 8D
@Fleurety
I FEEL this white in real life. XD
The other day I went outside and burned my shoulders. To my surprise, I actually tanned a bit. Then I compared my newfound "tan" to my younger sibling (the second most pale person in my family - only she could ever compete with me in that category). FFFFFFF SHE WAS SO FREAKING TANNED. I looked like a chalk-eating freak next to her. ;_;
LiKe a GhOsT! OooOOoOoOoo~
(It makes me wonder how pale I looked before the "tan". XD)

re: 80's rap
What was that mean hockey guy announcer's name - Don Cherry? I think he did a rap called "Sock it" XD Gooood times.
Oh, and then there was also a rap by Mr. T...
Did Hulk Hogan do a rap song too?
Really? Could you suggest some hip hop songs for me? I'm severely lacking in that department, and have no clue what's available other than what's most shown on MuchMore.
re: music in general

I think my username for that site is twistedminister (I was obsessed with Hellsing at the time I created the account). I haven't added any songs, but plenty of musicians I like. Even with that site's help, I haven't found everyone I've listened to. ;_;
re: events/new stuff
I suppose I'm semi-ready for that event then, with my god-awful pale skin. :3
Just need a pair of trousers, so I don't look like such a streaker. XD
You tease. D8
re: night owl
The only method I've found to work when I want to change around my sleep pattern is to stay awake for at least 30 hours... and fall asleep at the time you think is proper. It's hard, but as long as you have plenty of sugar and caffeine, it should be fine.

I think most celebrities at the time tried to bust a phat beat. LOL. So the Hulk probably did. XD
As for hip-hop - I'd start off with the Australian band "Butterfingers".
http://www.last.fm/music/Butterfingers
My favorites from them are "Get Up Out of the Dirt" (a great song for when I need to tell myself to stop whining), "Figjam", "Beautiful Music", and "I like 'em when they're trouble".
"TZU" are great too.
http://www.last.fm/music/TZU
I wish I had .... wait a second - I *do* have my music here with me. Let me look in my folder to see what I have. I'd forgotten this external hard drive I stole from the desktop has my music on it. XD
Right. Okay. I don't know which of these I listen to most often. So I had to play them again. >_>; So here are my favorites of the moment:
"She Gets Up", "Won't Get Played", "In Front of Me" & "Lounge"
Keeping with my obsession with Aussie hip-hop - Hilltop Hoods:
http://www.last.fm/music/Hilltop+Hoods
I haven't listened to them in ages - but "Dumb Enough" is one of my absolute favorite songs. It cracks me up. (I tend to like Aussie hip-hop because all the artists I've been introduced to have really funny, witty lyrics.)
Sounds like a storm's coming, so I'm not going to re-listen to the other songs by them I have. XD;
I like "Lady Sovereign" - but I haven't listened to much of hers. British.
http://www.last.fm/music/Lady+Sovereign
"Hoodie" and "Love Me or Hate Me" are the two I have in my folder. Though I've downloaded her entire album to check it out... I just haven't yet. >_>;
"M.I.A." isn't exactly hip-hop, but close and I love her work:
http://www.last.fm/music/M.I.A.
favorites = "10 Dolla", "Bucky Done Gun", "U.R.A.Q.T." - though there are other really good ones. I've forgotten what her most recent hit was, but it was the theme to the movie Pineapple Express. ::doesn't have that song, though she likes it:: >_>
Anyway. >____> I'm probably skipping over a lot of hip-hop artists in my collection. I suppose some of them I'm not sure if they're rap or hip-hop or hip-hop or something else. (I like very little rap, but when I like it, I like it a lot.) And I'm also missing some because I'm skimming artist names and just stopping when one catches my eye as a possible. XD
I hear you, re: pale.... I've been sunburned twice this summer and I'm still a whiter shade of pale. XD; I'm albino compared to everyone else in my family. D: Though I do know at least one person paler than I am. LOL.
Eee. I like sleep, though. XD I'm nearly on my usual schedule, though. :3 I'm sleeping at around the right time, I'd just been waking up a few hours earlier than I want to, which makes me tired later in the day. XD

@Aisteach: If it's something I'm really interested in, I'll read the book first, but yeah, I usually end up reading things second. I read Watchmen before seeing it on the orders of one of my friends who was already kind of a fan of it, though. X'D
I've found that when I re-read the HP books now, I can't not imagine the actors from the films. The films just sort of... overwrote all of my own mental images, and I don't remember what I used to think the characters looked like any more. So that's kind of sad.
...Particularly with the first three films, I didn't need to do that - I knew the books well enough to know what was being missed out or changed, and I ranted to my sister about those parts afterwards. XD;; I don't think I was the most fun person to go see HP films with back then.
Okay, I won't. :3 Haha. ;;

I know what you mean. But I do remember how I envisioned Dudley, Lupin, and Sirius. It was great that Dudley turned out exactly how I imagined him, but Lupin and Sirius came as somewhat of a shock. A good shock, as what the film produced there was better than what I had.
There totally should've been more scenes for Lockheart. I loved how he tortured others with his flamboyantly flamboyant antics. Mhuaha. >XD

Oh~ Lockheart! I loved him too. I read some of CoS aloud to my younger sister, and his parts were my favourite. Sometimes she'd make me read a scene with him in it again right after it finished because she found my impression of him so funny. ;; In the film, he turned out almost exactly as I imagined him.
I had the same kind of shock with Sirius and Lupin. The thing about the actors, I think, is that they capture the way the character moves and speaks so well that even if I'm sitting there thinking, "That's not how I imagined so-and-so to look!", I'll forget that pretty quickly because I can believe in their performance.
Except for David Tennant as Barty Crouch Jr. Being a big fan of Doctor Who, that was just a little too jarring. XD;;

I think because I had such a strong idea who the characters in Harry Potter "were" to me, I was able to hold onto my vision of most of them... Some of them are now the movie actors (because I didn't have a very strong idea of what they'd look like) and others now have some characteristics of the movie versions but remain mostly the same. And casting was pretty spot-on for some of the characters. XD
Lupin-book and Lupin-movie (to me) are not much alike. I don't dislike Lupin-movie, but I put him in the same category of Umbridge-movie.... An interesting alternative.
Overall, I can't quibble over the casting. They cast rather good or brilliant actors for the roles. (Snape, for example... Alan Rickman looks not much at all like how he's described in the book... but he is such a wonderful actor that it still works very well for me.)

I felt that way about Barty Crouch Jr. as well... Except I couldn't help but facepalm to keep myself from laughing whenever he did that little facial tic of the man's.
It took a moment to get used to movie-Lupin, but he's proven solid. (I was hoping Umbridge would be more exaggerated, but with the novel descriptions XD)
Alan Rickman is absolutely my favorite male actor. His voice is fluid, and moves with such immeasurable ease.

When I'm reading, I'm not much for visualising stuff. I used to have a really vivid imagination but it's gotten duller as I've gotten older, so I just don't tend to have very strong ideas of what characters or places look like... I have to really put my mind to imagining them if I want to have a mental picture. I think that's why I'll quickly accept a change from my visualisation - it wasn't all that concrete to begin with. The last books I remember immediately having strong mental images for was the His Dark Materials trilogy.
On the subject of Snape, I thought Alan Rickman was pretty much just as I'd imagined Snape to be (only a bit more awesome, but that's a side effect of being Alan Rickman, I suppose XD), but after watching the first film my sister told me he was nothing like she'd imagined Snape. We discussed it, trying to figure out why she thought Snape was different in the book, and it eventually came out that she'd imagined Snape as something of an anthropomorphic alligator. ...Yeah, she doesn't know why either. XD

I'm rather more flexible in that aspect. My thoughts are made up of moving pictures and tangible sounds... But I find it all too easy to change one belief to another if the challenging theory is similar enough and/or transferable.
Example:
Rorshach (Watchmen) - I read the comic way before seeing the movie. Walter came off as somewhat of a geek to me... so I wasn't expecting his actor's voice to be so deep in the movie. The movie Walter looked quite different too, I thought. Some things are similar though - the red hair, short stature, and posture. It made it so both versions were acceptable alternatives for me.
Anthromorphic... alligator? Let us be glad he didn't turn out that way in the film. XD

LOL @ alligator. XD That's awesome. I love it! As I sometimes have a tendency to occasionally 'cast' human characters with animal features, I fully understand it. XD
Alan Rickman has the voice and the way he moves that makes him work well for Snape to me. XD He's just not as thin and cruel looking as I imagine Snape to be. XD (I adore Alan Rickman. He's in my top ten list of actors and generally at the top of the list. XD )
As both an artist and a writer... and a prolific role-player... I like to have as firm an idea on characters and setting as I can. Sometimes when I read (and especially as I write), I sit and visualize the scene and how characters would move in that space. I'm also someone who has blockbuster movie dreams... meaning a plot from start to finish with lots of detail. (People become amazed and perhaps disbelieving sometimes when I relay dreams.) So it's more difficult for my ideas to be changed once I've got them. LOL. The movies did a great deal towards helping me visualize Hogwarts. And in a good way, filling in the gaps.

Ohh, are you interested in roleplays that feature undead beings (zombies, ghouls, wraiths, banshees, etc) as the main focus? There's one I know of that will be opening somewhere towards the end of this month. Thing is it isn't a regular text rp - it's a picture rp, where you draw instead of write. I keep wondering if "AP" would be more appropriate than "RP"...
I can never remember the "good dreams" for long. It's always the nightmares that stick with me. But, that's fine. My nightmares are a total thrill! If something's happening to me in my dream, it happens to me in life - is that normal? The weirdest thing to happen yet is waking up to find my neck spazzing right out. There must be a name for that sort of thing...

Yeah - Art Post forum is probably better than the role-playing forum in this case... unless text is also allowed. :3
As for being interested - yes! that sounds very interesting. XD I just don't know if I'll be able to play. :c How long would applications be open? (I need to get a new computer and tablet, and I owe two people artwork start-to-finish and one person to finish coloring their artwork.)
I remember most of my dreams, at least for a little while. A few dreams I remember years later.
I do know what you mean about it happening in the dream and waking up in that same state. Most people would say that you were injured in the night and your subconscious incorporated that pain into the dream. I don't know if that's *always* true, though I suppose it must mostly be that way. XD I know I've woken up from dreams with injuries like those I got in my dream or at least pain in the same general area. Not often, but a few times.

My dreams either tend to be weird in a way that dream dictionaries would tell me is symbolic, feature fictional characters (with me in the role of one of them), or trick me into thinking I've just woken up and can't find matching socks.
That last one happened today. And then when I actually did wake up, I couldn't find matching socks. ;;
Most of my dreams tend to seem pretty short, too - or at least, I only remember short parts that might've taken me about 5-10 minutes to dream? Sometimes the specifics desert me when I wake up, but I can remember the basic plot. I'd like to have a really epic dream...
I've never woken up from a dream in pain, unless the pain was what woke me up (falling out of bed, I'm looking at you). Have you ever woken up with a bruise or scratch the you didn't have when you went to sleep? That's happened to me a couple of times.
