That game has totally brainwashed me. I defeated the game over the course of 5 days, clocking in 32 hours of playtime. On the DS. My SNES is broke (cue a long hard glare to my elder bro's ex gf).
And I'm gonna play it again. You fellow Chrono fans will know why. The phrase "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" comes to mind. XD;
I just got so into the animated scenes, the tech system, characters, artwork, music, time traveling... etc. I just love everything about it.
What did you guys like about the game?
What did you not like about the game?
Who else wants another sequel to the Chrono series? ((Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers was just not enough!))

You know I will admit to liking Chrono Cross more than Chrono Trigger. I thought that Chrono Trigger was good, but I wasn't as impressed storyline wise. For it's time though it was an awesome RPG.
I understand the 'catch'em all' bug though - one of the best things about Chrono Cross was just the amount of people you could recruit for your party. In the end, it didn't make much of a difference as one person with the same magic type was the same as the next from what I remember but it was fun to see the different characters fight and their different winning stances and such. You had to replay the game at least 3 times over to get every character as I remember two forks in the storyline where you would have to pick between X character and at the beginning when you're first recruiting you have the choice between 3 different characters but you can only recruit one per play through. I remember I picked the Magician guy but there was a Fencer and someone else. Remember it's been like 10 years since I last played it but I have vivid memories of it still.

Ah, Chrono Trigger. The one defining game of my life.
I have it for DS, as well as SNES (which works) and I must say.... I will chose the SNES version over the DS any day. While the DS version has those great character-intro cut scenes, the fact that they re-translated it bothers me.
SPOLIER!!!!
In the SNES version, when the party is jailed on the Blackbird... if you have Frog in your party and you chose to trick the guard, Frog goes "Ohhhh my belly button!" pretends to be sick and passes out. the gaurd comes in to check out whats happened, Frog beats him up and triumphantly says " You Fool- Frogs haven't belly buttons!" and I loved it.
In the DS version he simply says " Frogs don't have belly buttons"
WHERE IS THE 600AD CHARM IN THAT?!

I haven't finished it yet, but I'm somwhere in the middle of it I think... It's one of the greatest old games I've played so far ^^
The only problem I have with the game is the graphics. Even though I love old games, I get pretty bored of all the pixles XD

I play this on the SNES. Did you know they remade it on PS1 with full anime cutscenes by the dude who did dragonballZ
You can watch a few music vids on youtube if you look them up.
So they retranslated the DS version huh? Yeah that would piss me off to. But that's nintendo for you. They seem to love doing crummy remakes. *cough cough* resident evil *cough cough*

I played Chrono Cross when it came out on Playstation, but I have to admit that I've never played Chrono Trigger. I started it a while back, but we didn't own the game so I had to give it back to my brother's friend before I could finish it. ;_____;
I keep eyeing the DS version whenever I go to the stores, but I keep getting other games, like Professor Layton 2 and Devil Survivor. I really need to get it soon...

hi there people!
i see chrono trigger for the ds all the time, to. never get it. i still play my SNES, so i just don't see the point in having two copys of it.
i have not beaten the game, but i've gotten VERY close.
they may have taken out some humor with the new translation, but it's probably no where near as bad as natsume's translation of rune factory 2. many conversational mistakes in that game. but funny because of it.
back to subject. in the ds version, does chrono talk at all?

It is gone to the Great Localization Graveyard In The Sky, where all of the cool but technically less-that-accurate localizations went after one too many idiot fanboys complained about Ted Woolsey and companies started being too literal in their translations.

I absolutely loved this game and wished they would update the graphics and redo it. On youtube some fans were remaking it and square soft asked them not to do it. Square soft is going down the tubes a bit, FF XIII better be really good. Back on topic. I loved the multi-endings of the game.

I've listened to some of its music, and heard very good things about it.
So when I get the money for my FC Twin system, I'm gonna try and find it.

I don't like the version with the animated cut scenes since I first played the original Snes version. You kind of did yourself a disfavor by playing through the game so quickly. The game is meant for slow enjoyment. Then you can replay at 999 health and tackle all ofthe alternate endings ;)
But between this and FF7 Chrono Trigger is one of my favourite all time RPG's
Chrono Cross was a bit confusing and there were way too many playable characters. It took away from the feel of the game. And playing as Lynx for most of the game is big let down. Plus I don't like some ofthe story outcomes..
I've played Radical Dreamers and for the nature ofthe game it was really enjoyable.

Yea there were more characters but they seemed to lack a depth about them. I think the game story line could have been written much better. Chrono Trigger should have gotten a sequal to itself.

Chrono cross bored me to death, I eventually quit after six hours into the game.
Chrono Trigger was easily the best because they made it an emotionally powerful game making the player easily attached to the characters. I know how the silent hero is popular in Japan but I prefer for the hero to actually have personality, that was the only thing I would have had changed. Otherwise I think it is the best.
I love how later once the games get more popular how animes will spring up about them.

I have Chrono Trigger for DS but never finished it. I stopped playing it for a while and when I went back I forgot where to go. I think I'm supposed to go to Zenan Bridge, so I'll play it again eventually. I do this with a lot of games lol. I do think it is a good game so far though, and I like the time traveling.

I first played Chrono Trigger on a SNES emulator, as by the time I learned about it, I was a teenager and SNES was no longer being made. I played a number of SNES games that way.
I want to get my hands on it again someday, and when I do, I want to explore all the possibilities.

I believe when I was fifteen I played the game and got just about every ending. There may be one or two or possibly three endings I did not get. I kind of wished they would have upgraded the graphics but kept the same story line. There were some users who put a video on youtube.com a remake of the Chrono Trigger which really looked so awesome! Square Soft Enix asked the to stop which I thought was sad because I really wanted to see that. Perhaps Square Enix is saving that remake for when they start falling in the red once again? Who knows? Only time will tell (and that goes double for a remake of Final Fantasy Seven for the Play Station Three!!)

Ok someone had to make a thread about this game, and yes as old as it is, I have got to profess love for this game that made me happy and made me sad. This title took me in every emotional direction for a sixteen bit game. The story and the characters were endearing and really makes you think of you're own friends. In the Play Station One version of the game there is a cartoon at the beginning of Chrono at home picking up a picture frame of himself with all of his friends with Marle's music(music box style) playing in the background as Chrono reflects the importance all of his friends has in his life and how he treausres each of their friendship. That really made me want to make a video with the same music only using photos of me and my friends as a slide show sharing memories. I love the multiple endings you can get, but more of all there is so many messages this game sends out such as loyalty and friendship above all else means everything and without it you have nothing. I guess the nostalgia this game generates ranks high up there with all of the other top role playing games. It was such a shame to see that they never really made a direct sequel with the same characters. Chrono Cross just was not the same, so the lineage died with Chrono Trigger or better yet, still lives on through us all.
