Kevin grabbed her and moved with her, laying her down. He knew what was happening, so he didn't need to ask if she was alright. He wasn't sure how to help, but he moved to gather water in a makeshift container. She would either need to be hydrated or cooled off, and the water could do either.

Yukina had currled herself up in a ball when he laied her down,Shakeing as pain over wellmed her.He want kidding when he said that it would feel like she was dieing.Then she cringed feeling someting sting her neck ... a dart ... but from where?No it couldnt be could it?!

The sound of jeeps and vans and other veachales came out of the bushes and men from the lab came rushing out of them ,pointing sleeping guns and other things aimed at them .

Kevin was at the stream, a way away from Yukina, and could only hear the rushing of the water, not the sound of the vans. He had no idea what was going on until he had a tranquilizer dart sticking into the nape of his neck. He cringed slightly at the pinch, knowing what it was. It took him too long to pass out, obviously, since one of the Hunters came up and hit him with the butt of the tranquilizer gun in the back of the head.

The man grabbed the back of Kevin's shirt and dragged him along until another Hunter came and helped him lift Kevin from the ground and carried him over to and tossed his unconscious body in the back of their van. Kevin never saw it coming.

Yukina was unconchious in another van,she was screaming out in pain as it was rushing threw her,and she couldnt wake up.A bunch of emotions ran threw here .Mostly fear and extream worry.Kevin ... Kevin was in trouble.She didnt know how she knew she could just sence it.As the veichals moved along the unteraind pather ,a light glow emenced from her body, she then yelled out in emence pain very loudly.The glow from her became extreamly bright and the earth ban to shake , the machines and veichals went hay wier,causeing things to explode and crash.During one of the explosions Yukina went fyling thre the air ,and crash landed somewhere in the midel of a forest,She layed on the ground,un movine,while yards and yards away, chaos was happening with all the veichals.

After the crashes and explosions, the van containing Kevin, at the back of the brigade, stopped dead. The Hunters hopped out of the van and went to the back, where Kevin was already awake and ready for them. the dart had not contained enough tranquilizer to completely overtake his system for long- being a shapeshifter had its advantages. When the opened the back, he had already shifted into a large, red wolf and he leaped at them out the back of the van.

He ran around, chasing the hunters off, and being shot at. Managing to avoid most the tranquilizer darts, he made it up the line but couldn't find her. In a moment of hesitation and panic, he was finally hit, but it was by a bigger gun with more power. he was thrown off the path, where he hit his head against a rock and was knocked completely unconscious, once again.

Yukina slowly opened her eyes.And was soon in a sitting position .She shook off dirst and relized,she was a wold.She looked around.What had happened?She couldnt remeber a thing.And she felt sore.She stood ,and started to trot along the forest.Looing around.She whined.And looked around.Why was she alone?why couldnt she rember anything at all?,panicing she ran and kept running.Away frm the sean that had only been yards away.She didnt stop,she flinched hearing thunder crack and lightnig flashed as rain poored down.She ran faster and faster , after what seemed like days but was really only hours she colapsed into and unchous exsastion and turned human.Laying on a muddy dirt road As the rain poored down.

An older couple came apon her ... gasping they got her into thier cart.And brought her back to ther small cottage in the forest.Peacefull safe and secure.

Kevin lay on the ground two whole days, when he awoke at sunset, where he lay since the fall had forced him back into his human form; trauma tended to do that. He pushed his upper body from the ground. He was in bad shape: torn up from falling off the road, the fall having been at least fifty feet, he thought, looking up from where he fell. He felt the back of his head, which had bumps and dried up blood and scabbed over cuts. He stood, slowly, nearly falling over. He looked around, "Yukina?" he called, "YUKINA!" but he was only answered by silence.

He walked back to the camp they had been at. The fire had been trampled out and the leaves that they had eaten off of were still there, but there were also footprints all over the place. It proved they had been there, that everything that had happened was real. He sat there, looking around awhile. He figured she'd be dead by then, between the pain from the shapeshifting and the way they were treating her. In his heart, he knew it wasn't true, but it was a possibility and he was preparing himself for the worse-case scenario. They couldn't have taken her back to the facility, because Kevin was still on the lose and he could go to the police, somewhere away from there, where they may believe him. He had no idea where they were... Where they had taken Yukina.

Kevin decided he had to stay out of sight, stay in the woods awhile, and find her when they had stopped looking. He swore he would though, he would find her, and hoped she would be alive.

--A Year And A Half Later--

Yukina yawned as she woke up ti the sunlight in her room.She sat up and streached.She had another stange dream last night.The same one she had been haveing since she had been found by the older couple that had found her on the dirt road a year and a half ago. She was with a boy ... they were runnng from something ... but she knew she felt strongly for him.But then she saw nothing but anget,pain and destruction.Sighing she rubbed her head and standing up she got a shower,dressed,and after makeing breakfest for the older couple and herself,she headed outside.Saying her good byes for the day she walked into the forest and down the dirt path.She sighed looking into the sky at the sun."wow , its beauiful ou",she said smileing.She then went to her'secret' place.Witched was a huge waterfall with a good sized pool of water.She smiled takeing off her shoes and stuck her feet in the water.She looked at the water fall.She had a strange feeling she had been to a similar water fall before...with the boy from her dreams. But they were only dreams wernt they?

After a short while at the waterfall Yukina slipped her shoes back on and headed down another path towards a small town,not know by manny.They wernt on a map,hidden away from the rest of the world and all its problems. In the past year and a half she had become very close with the towns people.They also kept her secret.She could change into diferent kinds of animals.She , and the towns people figuerd that out when she protected them from some mob boss who almost killed a little boy and the older couple who had taken her in.She was scrde that they would all shun her,but they didnt they aceppted her.Se smiled as she got closer to towan.

It had been a year and a half, and Kevin still had no idea where Yukina was, nor what happened the night she had disappeared. He remembered waking up in the van and going off the cliff, but that was all he could think of before his head began to throb. Kevin had gone off, taking refuge in a town on the other side of the river from the camp where he had last seen Yukina. It had been a long journey from where the camp was, but when he saw the lights of the town, he just wanted to find somewhere to belong.

During that time, he had been found by a lovely older woman, Sandra, and her daughter, Rebecka, who was about Kevin's age, to stay with. Kevin helped the two women run their cafe, working there every day, from open to close, and enjoying every minute of it. It turned out Kevin had a particular love for coffee he hadn't known he had. His hair was also shorter, though it was still considered long for a boy. They had also determined, by means of a doctor and Kevin's tooth and skeletal development, VIA x-ray, that Kevin was twenty years old by that point, and that he was particularly healthy, despite everything he had gone through- not all of which the two women he shared a home with knew. Kevin had told them about his time roughing it in the woods, but no more; they did not know about the facility that Kevin had been engineered and raised in, nor did he ever tell them about Yukina, never able to bring himself to speak her name. All he could do was assume she was dead, or that he would never see her again, if nothing else.

While he stayed with the two, he had grown quite close to them, thinking of them as the family he had never had, and never would have. Sandra and Rebecka were lovely people, and he had grown close to Becka especially. Briefly, they had a time where they were 'going out', but they discovered it just wasn't leading to anything. Kevin figured it was his fault for being more guarded than Becka would have liked; she probably felt as though he wasn't really letting her in. There were other girls in town who took an interest in him, but Kevin knew he wasn't over Yukina or her disappearance; especially if he could not find love with Becka.

One day, Kevin decided he needed some vacation time, during which he would go camping in the woods that he had crawled out of when Sandra found him. Secretly, Kevin hoped he would find Yukina, or some evidence of what happened to her. Two days into his hike, he reached the stream where they had set up camp so long ago. He took off his shoes and rolled up his pants and walked through the shallowest part of it, then walked up stream to where the camp had been. There was no trace of anything from the night they were attacked; even where the fire scorched the ground had been weathered away.

He looked to the east and walked that way, wondering if Henry would still be there. He wasn't; it turned out when the motel was invaded, they had killed Henry indirectly, causing a heart attack without laying so much as a hand on him. They had only threatened him, but Henry wouldn't tell them anything. Guilt overwhelmed Kevin, but he knew Henry would have been mad at Kevin for feel so. He decided to wander out and through town, seeing who was around, and secretly hoping to see Yukina wandering around, though he knew this was unlikely.

Yukina smiled as she exited a shop.Laughing."thanks again",she said waveing to an old lady.She then ran down the street.Just wanting to run.Then stopped suddenly.She ... she felt something.Someone was in the town.A fimilliar prsence.But good one.She looked around and took off running ing a direction.She just kept going.Running until she ran into someone ,(Kevin) falling backwards she smiled nervously."s-sorry i wasnt looking -",she stopped looking up at Kevin.It was him!The boy she had been dreaming about.He was real!Not some imaginary guy her mind came up with to make her feel safe when she had first started liveing wth the older couple.So maybe those dreams wernt dream ... maybe they were memories."were i was going",she finaly mumbeled out.Stareing at him.Then held her head slightly.It hurt.She knew she must have hit her head at some point a year and a half ago ... otherwise she would be able to remember things.And now it was hurting slightly just seeing this boy.She stood up dusting herself off.And looked at him.

Kevin stared at her, wide-eyed. He couldn't believe it was her! Sure, he had been hoping, but he was expecting those hopes to be dashed, not granted! He helped her up and moved closer to her, trying to be sure she was the girl he knew, the one he had grieved for, the one he had missed so terribly... It was her, and he knew it. "Yukina..." he said, a smile slowly crossing his lips, "Where have you been? What happened to you!" he asked, pulling her into his arms, "I was so worried about you! I thought you were dead...!" he admitted, pulling back to look into her eyes, his own pooling with tears, but not allowing himself to cry.

Yukina blinked stareing at him.She blushed deeply when he hugged her.Then looked up at him.Seeing his tears she knew for sure that she must have known him. And he knew her name.So those dreams she had been haveing were memories." your name ... its ... Kevin ... righ?",she asked with caution."i know i know ... becasue of your emeotions and that you know my name ... but ... i havnt had a memori in about a year and a half ... an older couple had found me on the road , just putside of town...."she said with a frown."but here is not the place to talk ... come to the house where im staying , we can talk more there...i do have questions that do need answering",she said takeing his hand and lead him down the street , and then down the dirt road that lead to the cottage she ived at.

He listened, hurt: she obviously didn't know who he was. As they walked he continued speaking, [b]"You've had dreams about me, and that's how you know it's me? You don't remember anything"? he asked thinking about the confessions of love and the kiss. So many memories of them being together came to his head at once, and it only hurt him more to know she couldn't remember any of them. She brought him to the house she had been staying at, and he looked around. Yukina had adapted to a new life just as Kevin had... Only, she was staying with an older couple where as he was, well, he was town stud staying with a very pretty girl he had a thing with at one point. Instantly, he felt guilty for what happened between him and Becka, now that he knew Yukina was actually alive.

Kevin was filled with so many mixed emotions, shock and expectancy, happiness and sorrow, love and hate- love for Yukina was there, but hate for himself was there as well, for not looking harder and for trying to forget about her. He wanted to be mad at Yukina too, for not remembering and not trying to find him, but it wasn't something she could have helped... So he felt a bit bitter, but he couldn't hate her. Kevin waited for Yukina to say something to him, to explain.

Yukina looked back at him.Senceing his troubeled feelings.She looked down."yes ... ive had dreams of us ... running ... from someone .... but there times we were at peace .... we were happy , there was a beaituful waterfall, a small town , and a room that was like a small apartment .... and we were together ... like we were a couple .... there was a noce view of a city and ocean from one room ... then we were running again , there was a river , you ... were cooking .... then... afterter that things are fuzzy",she said rubbing her head as they eneterd the house where the older couple stared in shock."so ... he is real", the older man comented.Then smiled at thew two.

The lder man walked towards them."your Kevin i take it?"He asked.Then smiled."Yukina here, has been telling us of her dreams and said that someone was looking for her .... heh aparently she was right",he said looking at Yukina then looking at Kevin e saw the hurt in his eyes."When we found Yukina , she was roughed up,she had hit her head pritty hard on something ... "

Kevin listened to Yukina, and he was a bit startled by the older gentleman who addressed them, "Yes, I am Kevin. And you are...?" he inquired. "I know what happened that night. I didn't loose much of my memory from the night, and I know everything before as well. I know what she's talking about. Henry's motel, the Hunters who were chasing us... the waterfall in the woods when we first escaped. And the night she and I got separated, I remember most of that as well." he informed the two of them.

He looked to Yukina, the hurt still in his eyes, "We were together. We loved each other very much..." he said.

Yukina looked back at him.Frowning at him , and looked down."im sorry",she said in a soft voice.

The old man frowned."Im Jake ... my wife Betty is out back gardening ... "

Kevin nodded at the man, looking around. He was taking in what Yukina had been seeing for the passed year and a half. There was nothing to say to the apology Yukina had offered him. There was a feeling within Kevin that felt she should be sorry, but the part that loved her wanted to tell her not to worry. Rather than betraying himself by saying either thing he felt, he kept silent.

When he finally looked back at her, he noticed how different she seemed to him. "So... what's supposed to happen now? Am I supposed to explain everything you've forgotten or leave you without it? And then are we supposed to decide what happens to us? Or have you already decided what you want to do?" he asked, all the questions he could articulate flooding out at once. He needed answers desperately. The love of his life, his first love, whom he had gone between searching for and trying to give up on was alive, and whats more, she had forgotten him. 'Perhaps it's a sign that I am supposed to move on...' he thought, wondering what would happen once he had, and at the same time, unsure he could even do that.

Yukina blinked."i ... i dont wnat you to leave .... i know your the only person ive ever had .... and ive been waiting for you ... for the longest time ive been waiting for you"She siad looking at him.Scared.She didnt want Kevin to leave.But if he wanted t leave her then she couldnt stop him.She didnt want him to be in pain."w-what am i?"She asked."i know im not a 'real' human"Se said stareing up at him then blinked,she felt a world of memories rushing to her.She held her head in pain and dropped to her knees.

Kevin was confronted with so much at once, it almost made his head spin. He watched her drop to her knees, but made no motion towards her. She wasn't his Yukina any longer, so he felt no obligation to care. Especially not with what she had just said. She didn't know him, but she wanted to keep him around. Why? Because he was the only one who could tell her what she had been through? He was angry, and he didn't care why she wanted him around. First, he decided to address the issue of her being a 'real human': "You are a real human. You had one treatment at the Facility to alter your genes to turn you into a Shapeshifter before we managed to escape. Obviously, it took well enough to last this long, but it might,and will probably fade with time, since you haven't kept up with the injections. I, on the other hand, am the one who is not a 'real human', whatever that means." he said, offended, and side glancing at the older gentleman whose name Kevin couldn't and didn't care to remember. The only name of an older man he could remember at that moment was Henry, who was dead... Just like his grandson, James. What a horrible twist of events everything had turned out to be.

The man looked at Kevin coldly.Then looked at Yukina.Who looked like her head was going to explode.Then felt relief seeing her blinked when she seemed okay again.

Yukina stared up at Kevin.She remembered .... she remembered everything.Even the stuffshe couldnt origanly remeber."Kevin", she said softly looking at him.She felt saddened that he didnt care just because she had a few gaps in her memory.But now that she could remember, would it even make a diference?What, What if he had moved on after all this time, what if ..."im so sorry Kevin ... i .... i didnt want to forget, but i know you ... i remember everything escapeing from the lab ... ou being so protective, the hotel room ... everything ... and us being captured by the men from the lab ... i even remeber the things i couldnt originaly remember",she said walking past him and outside."im just sorry i urt you this much so fast", she said lookingat him with tears in her eyes."it may not mean much now ... but ... i still love you Kevin .. even though , you hate me now" she smiled some then transforming into a wolf she ran off into the forest.Kevin didnt have a reason to care for her anymore .... he could hate her , and shed be okay with that.She growled some.She didnt want to stay there , knowing that though.So maybe she could just try to say as an animal.Then , depending how long she stayed a animal , she would forget her human life.Although she was happy she had her memores of before the lab back.

Yukina sighed as she stopped at a lake and turned human and takeing off her shoes she pulled her knees close to her chest and let her self cry.

Kevin returned the look to the man, not really caring what he thought about the situation. He knew nothing about the girl who had been living with him and his wife to begin with. Kevin hadn't known everything, but he knew more than the old fool standing next to him.

Then, all of a sudden, Yukina had her memory back. And instead of talking with him, she runs off as an animal telling Kevin how he feels about her- and not only that, but he hates her. Ironic, considering the reason he was so hurt was the fact he'd loved the girl and thought she was dead, but rather than her being dead, he finds out she was living in the next town over, and just didn't remember him. Could she honestly say she wouldn't feel the same if the situation was reversed and he had forgotten her?

Seconds after Yukina ran off, Kevin walked out of the house and down the street which Yukina had led him in the first place. He wasn't going anywhere in particular, but just... away. He couldn't leave town yet. Yukina would be back, he figured, and he'd corner her into talking to him then. Wasn't it a little backward- shouldn't the girl want to share her feelings? Kevin shrugged, perhaps it was better the way it had happened. It would have looked a bit silly if he ran off crying... He laughed a little at the thought.

Yukina had stayed where she was for most f the day and blinked seeing storm clouds."guess ... i should go back",she muttered,standing up she sipped her shoes back on and headed back towads the town.Looking down."hes rpobaly gone again",she said softly o herself.She smiled some.If he was she couldnt blame him.Getting into the town she looked around as people got shelter as the rainstarted to come down.Shed be 'home',soon enough.She looked up at the other side of the forest.On the other side of it all was the lab.Should she go back there?Just tell them Kevin was dead?

Kevin walked around the block a few times, looking up with squinting eyes as the rain began to fall upon him. It couldn't be much longer before she went back to that house.

Yukina stoped a the path that would take her back o the house,and the one that take her into the forest.If she followed that path she could wander her way back there.But if that was the casethen she should at least say good bye to the old couple that came in.Yukina sighed and headed for the house laughing at hersekf at how wet she was.Normaly she brought an unbrell.a
