Shortest anime I have ever seen was Tooi Sekai (Other Worlds), it was under two minutes long does that even count? XD
Only other ones I can think of off the top of my head are Le Portrait de Petit Cossette (2 or 3), Elfen Lied (14), Papa to kiss in the dark (2), Hellsing (13), The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (14), Fooly Cooly (6), Pretear (13), Paranoia Agent (13), Hourglass of Summer (2), Petshop of Horrors (4), Jyu-oh-Sei (11), Devil May Cry (12), Please Save My Earth (6), Angel's Feather (2) Spice and Wolf (13) and Angel Sanctuary (3). I'm pretty sure there's way more though that I'm forgetting.

I didn't like FLCL but its a surprise to know it was only 6 episodes. I thought Fruit Basket and Ouran High school Host Clud was short. I think they were both 26 and Pretear

Yurka: Dokuro-chan, it is 3 episodes! Well actually 6 (11 min each) but 2 episodes comes on at the same time so I count it as 1 episode.

Tooi Sekai...it was only an episode long. xD

The second season of La corda D'oro it only has 2 episodes.

The shortest anime I've ever seen? Dragon Half and Puni Puni Poemi. Both are only two 30 minute episodes.

Loveless is only 12 ep and thats the shortest one i have ever seen xD

I think it was all yaoi/BL stuff.

Kakurenbo was probably the shortest one I've ever seen, but truth be told, I'm not sure if that counts, as it was more of a one shot OVA than an actual series.
For shortest series in a more literal sense, I'd say Chi's Sweet Home, which clocks in at a grands total of some three minutes or less per episode. Greater number of episodes, but total running time for the series is pretty slim.
Besides that, the shortest series that I've seen is probably Karas. If I remember right, it was a six part OVA series, the six parts of which were split into two chunks of three episodes, each of which were then edited to make a two part movie series rather then a three episode OVA.

Mainly yaoi is short - i dunno whether your in to that sorta of stuff but the shortest one i;ve ever watched would be: Papa to kiss in the dark. (2 eps)
Other than that most of the 12 episode ones likeeee; gakuen heavan, loveless stuff like that.

Hrm well I think that Rozen Maiden was pretty short, I believe there was 13 Episodes. :3 then of course you have all those other seasons XD

The shortest I've seen was Black Jack. It only has ten episodes, but they are an hour long or something close to an hour long. :o

Mine is Puri Puri Poemi (2) and Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan. (3 in the first season and two in the second)

Probably Elfen lied (13 episodes), and Fooly cooly. >_>
I wish they would continue Elfen lied though.
But they can't, since Lucy already died.

Massugu ni ikou. It had only four or five episodes in each of its two seasons, and the second was sort of in reverse like it should have been the first season. @[email protected] I think I just confused myself by saying that.

FLCL also came to mind.
A few others like Loveless, Angel Sanctuary(2 episodes I think?), Elfen Lied..
Though those were already mentioned... xD Ahaha.

The shortest Animes I have ever seen are Virgin Fleet and Cosplay Complex, both of them were only three episodes.

FLCL was one of the shorter ones. Wolf's Rain was a bit too short, if you ask me...

It would be Loveless. That anime is only 12 episodes long, and ended in a cliff-hanger. *sigh* That is why I prefer manga to anime so much.

I guess Magical Play (unless that counts as an OVA...?)
