We're similar to Gaia in that we're both forum-based avatar sites. :)
Our rules are quite a bit different (have you read those yet?) and many people believe (and I agree) that our community and overall atmosphere is quite different, too.
Hope you enjoy it here. :) Most of us were Gaians at some point in our lives, including myself. So if you're having any trouble adjusting, feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll help you out.

It is more like Gaia when it was go-gaia.com than the gaiaonline.com
Still not so much the same, but, it is easy to transition.
