..to your health...(No, this is not a Twilight bashing thread) I was thinking about posting this earlier... but I just got the guts to now...
Well... I went to the library today and was asked by the librarian if I liked Twilight and would recommend it to her daughter (who happens to be 7).
Now I don't hate Twilight, but I told her I didn't particularly like it. I told her if her daughter was into romance then she could recommend it.
Apparently, a super Twilight fan was listening to us. After she heard the dreaded words "didn't really like the series after the first one" she decided she had to rid the world of a Twilight hater...
And proceeded to try to push me down a flight of 40 metal stairs. She didn't succeed, thank god for security guards walking pass and a guard rail, but as they dragged her away called me a bi**h and said I should burn in hell for "being a blasphemer", as did her older sister... And I'm sure she wasn't much older than 10 or 12 and her sister was at LEAST 17.
I've seen her in the library every time I go and now I'm starting to worry. There are tons of other girls (young and old) who like Twilight. Should I start fearing for my safety now?

Wow, sounds like a total freak to me. People need to not worry about such things a damn book. I mean seriously. Causing bodily damage to someone is 'aggrivated assault.' Honestly, I would call the cops on the bitch. Just mean though.

There's loads of those Twihard encounters. I would be terribly frightened too. You should see this:
http://twilightsucks.proboards.com/i...ay&thread=5175
It's a directory of Twilight-related incidents. Attempted murder is on there a surprising number of times.
I have a shatload of Twilight fangirls as friends. I liked it too, when I read it years ago, but the fanbase has really turned me off the books. :(
Last year I was almost assaulted at Comic Con while waiting in line for the Twilight panel. This year wasn't as incidental, but the line was enormous. It wrapped around the convention center multiple times. D;

See, it's people like her that give Twilighters a bad name. *shakes head* Not all fans are like that. It's just the mental ones that you have to watch out for. I do admit I am a fan, but not like the crazy ones. Honestly, people these days..

Holy crap! That is UNREAL. Honestly you really should think about pressing charges. She obviously needs to be taught that actions have consequences.

The twilight sucks forum is my second home some days. ;3 You get alot of these stories. I'm sure they'd love to add yours to the collection.
But yes, twi-tards are very dangerous creatures. Over populating I'm afraid... Its not duck or rabbit season-- its twi-season.
They can't seem to grasp the idea that maybe Stephanie Meyer isn't the best writer in the world, or maybe that the series is ridiculously inappropriate for younger age groups.
I couldn't get past the first one. The whole sparkling vampire thing made me cry in a corner for about an hour. But I know people who are into the series. Most of them won't bite your head off for saying you don't like it. Most of them.
So, I've heard stories about it. One described it to me as "porn in a book--- erotic novel". This was the last book, I believe. She also proceeded to explain how she "marked all the pages that turn her on".... *shudders*
I don't get a sexual attraction when I read a middle-schooler's writing, sorry. D:

Could that be because "R-Patz", Robert Pattinson attended Comic Con? And every twi-tard in the country was passing out because they were within a thirty foot radius?

Omg... I know about this. I watched the movie a few days ago out of curiosity and was not impressed. At all. It's like this undercurrent of obsessive females who really spend most of their time below the radar in social standings. They have affinities for weird things and are so intently wrapped up in whatever craze they can get their hands on. I knew of girls like that in college and they scared the crap out of me. Our society is breeding some scary, scary people.

Some Twilight fans are overboard. I have alot of friends that are fans but only a few are overboard with it.And as for your predicament, I wouldn't go to the library alone anymore. I have yet to have anything that bad happen to me for not liking it alot. I've mostly recieved punches to the arm.

I'm not at all surprised. Each passing generation gets more and more barbaric and out of control. My own was atrocious enough. Now we've got little kids out there killing each other. What's really disturbing though, is to think that these kids, teens and young adults are willing and capable of this kind of crap all of the time. This is simply where their minds are at. All they need is any stupid excuse they can find to go off. To them, someone not liking what they do is an excuse to hurt or try to kill them. That's not being a fan. That's just being sick in the head.
And they say we're evolving? I'd say it's rather the opposite.

Wow, why would people do that? That's pretty crazy, and all those on that website too! I don't think you should blame Twilight, or twilight fans and decide you hate it because of these people though. I am a fan but would never go to such extremes. These people are making a very bad reputation for the fans and for twilight.
If twilight didn't exist, there would be some craze going on in the world wouldn't there. And things like this would still be going on. I bet if you found another big craze and searched for incidents on the internet there would be them.
These people really need to stop and think about what they're doing. People shouldn't get violent over other peoples opinions. (But then again, when has that ever happened in the history of the human race? Cough, war).
And also, there are alot of young girls that like the idea of violence and being tough. Especially where I live. They are dying to get in any fight, whether it be physically or verbally. They want to feel powerful and make people scared of them. Once they get an excuse, they go for it.

I'm a Twilight fan myself, but this is literally WAY over the top. This is obsession.
There's a major difference and being obsessed with a book is just silly.
I agree with above and say press charges on them and move on.

WOW. OVER A BOOK. The things kids do to each other these days over the most insignificant things. It seems everyone is itching for a fight and find any little excuse just to make trouble. Is something like that really worth fighting about? What is there to gain?

Thats nuts! I've never heard of this stuff happening before... maybe because I live in Canada... anyways, I've read all the books, the first being the only really well written one... but still no need to do people physical harm! If people don't like the series it's their choice. DEAL WITH IT!

I've had a similar experience, although it was not over Twilight.
The problem is when people worship something without a shred of reason, obsession becomes a very fatal thing. This is not just a Twilight thing, this can be over anything. Which it is wise to keep a good head on your shoulders, stay open to all opinions even if you disagree.
And of course, press charges against the person that did that to you. C:

It sounds like the girl has some psychological issues, seriously. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it doesn't mean that you have to agree with it. I'd say stay the hell away from her and if she tries anything else, report her.
And hopefully she's not listening, but I think the whole thing is over-rated. I've not opened a book or watched the movie or anything, but I think it sounds stupid. Kind of like Harry Potter just never appealed to me.

;) Course it was!! I went ((don't kill me, people :o , I like Twilight on a good day)) and the shrieking and squealing was deafening. I wish I had recorded it for the lulz. D:
Of course, that wasn't the reason I went to Comic Con, it's in my city and I'd been dying to go since 7th grade lololol... but I can't say the same about the other attendees. Everyone hates the twihards around here because they're bought out all the tickets the past two years. Thousands of geeks and awesome cosplayers that don't get to attend just cos of Twilight. ;___;
