My mother and sister have an addiction to garage sales. We'll be driving home form somewhere and they'll see one and my sister will say "Oh, we should check it out," and my mom will say "We might find something we need" and I have to say "Keep driving" several times and even lean up towards the front seat and continue to demand she keeps driving, or they'll stop and "browse the selection" only buying things we need.
1. We do not need anymore tubber wear
2. No one is having a birthday anytime soon, you do not need to get that for your friend
3. We are not in a good enough financial position to buy crap we don't need.
I actually feel very antsy when we do stop at garage sales. I think I worry too much about wasting money on worthless crap. I also cannot stand it when EVERYTHING is dirty. I hate touching the things that are laid out.
I'm slightly germophobic so when my hands feel dirty I get small panic attacks where it feels like I can't breathe. >.<
As far as phobias go I'm also Automatonophobia (Fear of ventriloquist's dummies, animatronic creatures, wax statues - anything that falsly represents a sentient being)/ Pediophobic (fear of dolls) and Coulrophobia (Fear of clowns).

my grandfather and mother are the same way. I've never understood how someone that is so stingy with his money will go out and buy other peoples left overs. It's all about finding a deal with him but he doesn't even need this crap!
"But it's so cheap!"
"It's even cheaper if you DON'T buy it. Are you even going to use it?"
"....Yes?"
"No." -_-

I'm slightly germophobic as well, but it is more towards drings/cups/etc.
I never really been to a garage sale actually. I am sorta scared to talk with random strangers who are trying to sell things to me. It's like I feel bad if don't buy something or if my parents ask about something and end up not buying it I feel embarrased for some reason and I get mad. Once my dad went to a shop to fix something on the car and they fixed it real quick and gave them four dollars. I'm like "Dad, you gave my friend four dollars (he worked there). How's that gonna make me look to him and everyone else now." and he was like "All he did was tighten a screw. Plus, I didn't wanna break a twenty." Ugh, I felt so stupid at that time.

Don't say the G word! D:
My mom might hear us. ; ~;
I prefer antique malls or flea markets... The things there usually work. Garage sales are... Well... Usually pretty nasty. I don't want your used stuff!
Ahaha, I'm just learning to drive. It's fun, I guess. c: My mom drives well.
I have to many fears to list. One includes getting my leg cut off by a lawnmower. xD
Butchea, I have random panic attacks... I've had one yesterday, and today... No idea what's causing them. I think it's the idea my dad is such an arse. I feel like I'm having a heart attack, and can't breath well, and can't calm down. D:

Garage sales aren't too bad for me. Although, I do prefer second hand stores or flea markets. But, garage sales can be good for finding a piece of furniture you need for cheap or a vaccum cleaner or something.
I have several phobias and fears. Talking in front of people, talking on the phone, anything that shoots stuff (guns, crossbows, paintball guns, ect.) large crowds, and people I know/love dying. I have a few others but they escape my mind at the moment. I used to have panic attacks a lot...mainly when I get around too many people or something like that. I don't have them quite as much as I used do...but they still happen sometimes.

I'm like garage sales, but i'm addicted to antique stores.
They always have so much lovely stuff
It's a great time for garage sales for people in my family right now because my mom just got a new job so she needs work clothes. Two cousins and an aunt of mine are expecting , so we need baby clothes like crazy right now.
Not to mention the numerous children in my family who are going through growth spurts an the moment and the ones who will be going to school for the first time and need things like backpacks. Plus i love a good deal, but only if it's something I really need.
I used to have panic attacks from being in the center of large groups of people, that alone made school a lot harder for me. If i'm on the outer edge of a crowd i'm fine though. I guess it's a little like being trapped for me. I actually didn't go to my local mall for the first time until about eight or nine years ago (when i was ten or eleven) because the crowds scared me so much. But i learned to stay by the wall so i'd have a way out.
but i'm better now, crowds don't scare me anymore.

My grandma goes garage sale-ing every weekend it seems like. And I always have to remind her that everytime she comes back she's just bringing more worthless crap into our house that we're never gonna touch again and its just gonna keep on piling up and collecting dust.
When I'm with her I have to beg her to not stop and look D:

Garage sales are good for finding books.
I'm an all time lover of books, so I love getting books. :)
Other than that, I don't like buying clothes.
I have a problem even with Good Will for shopping for clothes. .__.

...I think I might need a voice of reason like yours in my head, vomity. I have a huge problem with buying things that I don't necessarily need and then not knowing what to do with them afterwards. D:

Hm, well maybe before you buy something you should stop and think for a second. Do you really need this? Will you want it after you buy it? Do you have enough slack when it comes to money to buy this?
Okay so I don't think it through that much, but I do get worried about money a lot. I hope I didn't sound stuck up with the questions, but if you have a problem with buying things you wont know what to do with, they could be helpful. :]

Funny you should mention this, since we're having a garage sale tomorrow. Lulz.
I love yard sales, when I'm willing to go to one. You'd be surprised what you can find there if you look hard enough. Some stuff can reach a high sellback value because the people don't realize how rare the items can be.
But my mother insists on going to one whenever there's a sale in sight. Which bothers me because she's... erm, a packrat. D; So I can relate with you on navigating the car in the opposite direction. ;3

My mom's the same way with flea markets.
She never buys a lot; there's just this certain set of dishes she's always looking for, and forcing me to go with her.
I've always found flea markets and antique shops creepy, especially the ones with dead animals everywhere.

My grandma is addicted to garage sales >_>. Every time we go out and she see's a sign about one she always goes to it (or plans to another day). Half the time she just looks and does not buy anything. I think she is just nosy.

My fear is the dark. I can't sleep in the dark, I have to open the hallway light so I can fall asleep. I know it sounds lame but I guess I am the most lamest person ever. Thought I think that is all I can think of.

My church has an annual yard sale every May to raise money for the mission trip, and everybody going on the trip has to work shifts for it. I got 4 shifts so I set out and priced quite a lot of items.
I cannot even begin to tell you how many cups, dishes, pans, etc. that I had to wash because they were so nasty I wouldn't even set them out on the table. A lot of the cups had dirt and dead bugs in them, and a pitcher even had mold. It was so gross, I think I washed my hands a dozen times after handling that ickiness.
I can't believe that people would donate stuff like that and not even bother to clean it. I know you just want to get rid of your old junk, but nobody's gonna buy dirty dinnerware! :sarcasm:

Really? Aw, I'm sorry.
I love garage sales, though. The last I went to was with a couple of my friends. They had a lot of neat stuff.

We don't tend to get a lot of garage sales around here, but occasionally i get dragged out to a car boot sale. SOMETIMES there's some ok stuff, like books or CD's that are still in one piece but a lot of it is almost beyond sellable, but I guess the saying one man's trash is another man's treasure.
I'm sure lots of people find highly collectible itmes at these sorts of things.

I'm not a fan of garage sales. Sure, I'll admit, I'm a costume hound. If I see something like an old prom dress or something like that, I'll probably spend a bit of money on it. Just because I love that style. Maybe a book, but I don't really like garage sales.
My grandmother is obsessed with them. To the point where half our family is against her.
For 16 years, my cousins and brother and I have gotten birthday and Christmas gifts all bought at garage sales and flea markets.
For us girls, it usually consists of make up kits, or manicure sets.
The make up kits they made in the 90s with the stick on earrings and terrible quality makeup. Once, I got one that had a lot of stuff missing, and the lipstick had been used. EWWW.
Either that, or she'll give us a mirror she bought (probably from some kind of sale like this) when she went to China. I swear to God, my two cousins and I combined, we probably have at least 28 of them.
But it's just like... "Seriously, grandma? I'm 16, and you're still giving me this shit I've gotten my whole life? FAIL."
I'm probably going to make a topic about crappy gifts later tonight.
