What are your thoughts about them?
I know that some people disapprove of them greatly. They think it's mutilation~
Or it's too hard to get a job with facial piercings. And tattoos could be a hassle to cover.

But I don't know.. What are Menewsha's thought on piercings and tattoos?
I know some people only do it for the trend and myspace. Those people are dumb.

For me, I adore piercings. I have ten of my own, five that are facial. They're something that I enjoy and will hopefully have them for a long time to come. Though I realize I might have to take them out once I have a job or for interviews. . Something I'm not looking forward too, but if it's got to be done, it's got to be done.

I also have one small tattoo on my ankle of a star, sadly, I will admit, there is no meaning to it. It was a birthday present I got for my 16th birthday in March. But I am in the process of convincing my mother to let me get a chest tattoo where I will have, "Life is a Merry-go-Round." There's a story behind it, something that means more to me then a lot of things.

My piercings~
Spiderbites
Double Nostrils
Eyebrow
Industrial
3 Cartilage
1 lobe

So, Menewsha, I ask again.
Your thoughts?
--
Do you have piercings?
Do you have tattoos?
Have you ever thought about getting either?
What does your tattoo(s) mean?

I like piercings and tattoos, in proper moderation. My own mother has more than anyone I know. I don't like the people that cover their entire body in either piercings or tats, simply because after a while your tattoos stop having meaning. I think a tattoo should convey a part of you that's eternal, something you'll never let go of. And piercings should be for individuality not to be a mainstream Horned Guy. *giggles* I have both ear lobes and helix's pierced, and I'm planning on going down my entire right ear... and I am planning to get a tattoo. My mom will actually pay for my first one if I can wait another year.

but thats just the way I was raised.

Syraannebelle: Totally get what your saying there. I mean, maybe sleeves are okay. But, the whole body is something else. I can just imagine some of the pain that some of the people that do that go through. Definitely have guts though. But you're right. If you get too many they don't have any meaning any longer.

But that's so cool that your mother is understanding about it. Do you know what you're going to get for your first tattoo?

I have five tattoos. Three dragonflies down my spine because they are my totem animal and symbolize creativity, Soul written in kanji on the back of my neck and my guardian dragon covering my left side. All of my tattoos mean something to me and I think they are an expression of who we are. I read somewhere once that "The tattoo is the mark of the soul. It can act as a window through which we can see inside, or it can be a shield to protect us from those who cannot see past the surface."
*shrugs* I think it fits.....except for the people who get them to be 'cool' -_- idiots
As far as piercings go I have my ears and tongue pierced. I had a belly button piercing but a week later I was working at the pirate festival and corsets don't go well with belly button rings. -_- ow

Boy, you sure do post some interesting topics.

Tattoos, piercings, hair dye,
It's all hot to me. I like dying my hair when I can afford it, and when I'm older I'm going to get four more earrings in my ears and a few more piercings on my face. Mom said she would pay for the two that's in my ears and that's all.
Piercings aren't all that permanent either, with time they do close up, unless they're gauges, but gauges scare the crap outta me.

Tattoos... Well they're a little different than piercings, because a tattoo is a little more permanent unless it's Henna. And I've seen some gorgeous henna tattoos and injects. My sister is getting tattoos on her back. Back tattoos aren't all that bad in my opinion, as they're relatively easy to cover.

In my opinion your body is your own and I won't bug you about it. Now some people might consider them unprofessional, that's not me, it all depends on what you want to work as.

I have both my earlobes pierced twice at the time being, along with my left ear cartalidge pierced at the top.. I had a belly button piercing, and an eyebrow piercing. The eyebrow piercing I took out, cause it almost got ripped out by my little sister by accident..The belly button one kept getting hit during the healing process, and the ball kept falling off.

@Witchy; You sound like you have lovely tattoos. You have any pictures? I would love to see them. Oh god, I can just imagine a navel piercing and corsets. That HAD to be painful. D:

@Nymeria: Do you know what kind of facial piercings you'll be getting? Ehh, and with stretching your ears. You have to be soo careful. I recently had a blowout in my ear. I was at a 0g and I had to downsize because it was so bad. They have somewhat started to scare me as well, just because it was nasty dealing with that mess. Haha. They can return to a normal size if you take care of them and don't go to big.

@Sanny: Oh yeah. You have to be hella careful if you have little siblings. When I had my septum pierced my little cousin tried pulling on it. I backed off super fast.

I want to get a king cobra coiled around a rose on my shoulder blade. I haven't decided what colour I want the rose to be, I've been researching rose meanings, and I'm debating between lavender (enchantment), blue (impossible/unattainable), or white (charm/humility/innocents), and under all of this will be a scroll work banner. I'm probably going to write 'Victory to the Spider" inside... It's kind of become my motto the past couple of years.. or I'll just write "Family" in extremely fancy writing.

In moderation, anything's good. :]

I adore most piercings and tattoos, but I could never bring myself to actually get any. I'm freaked out by needles and the idea of getting a tattoo sounds so painful. D: I'm very pain-sensitive.

The only piercings I have are my earlobes.
I've heard from some other people I'd look cute with a lip ring, though.
And I LOVE lip rings. xD

Tattoos...even if I wasn't scared of the pain, there's nothing in my life that's been symbolic enough for me to actually know what to get. D: I'd probably get something ridiculously cute on my back or something.
I love tattoos a lot though. Miyavi makes tattoos sexy too. <_<
(Miyavi = Japanese singer. :] His entire back has a tattoo on it, I forget what of though.)

@Syrannabelle: Sounds like a nice tattoo. Blue is nice tattoo. But it depends on what color you'll be getting the cobra as.

@Jae: Oh yeahhh. I know what you mean with Miyavi's tattoos. They are dong gone sexy. I would love to pull off tattoos like that. He recently took out all his piercings since the announcement that his wife was preggo though. Shame. He looked so well in piercings.

And piercings aren't really that painful. I thought they would be. I guess it's a different pain when you know it's coming and you want it. And then it all just depends on your pain tolerance.

Well my personal thought about tattoo's are they are pretty much wierd. it is stupid that youget somethinginked into your skin and thnen you can't change your mind abotu them latrer. I guess that most pericing are okay because thye show your style and you can always get rid of them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a pain wuss too, but I think piercings are a great form of self-expression, and as long as they're not gauges they aren't too noticeable when you take them out.

As for which ones I want, I don't know, I was thinking of either a lip-piercing and/or an eyebrow piercing. I wouldn't have them on the same side because I think that would make one half of my face feel heavier than the other half, and I don't think I want that. I definitely want six piercings in my ears, (Three on each side) and I definitely want a facial piercing. But I think that's where it'd stop. Anything below the face other than belly button frankly makes me nervous. I can't imagine getting a hood ornament or nipple piercings.

@flame: That may be true, but that's why you think about it for a reasonable about time before you ink your skin with something permanent.

@Nymeria: Oh, yeah. I totally understand what you mean. :)
Haha, yeah! I have my lip piercing, then my nose piercing, and then my eyebrow piercing all diagonal. It's kinda funny. It reminds me of Kyo from Dir en grey. But I didn't even mean for it to be like that.

Yeah! My best friends wants to be a piercing apprentance, so she's vowed to get every piercing there is.. Except, well, you know. The boy part piercings. The only thing I would get below the neck would be hip piercings.

@flame * yeah with Raphael on that one. I've had my tat drawn out since I was twelve, and I love it everytime I see it. It's a matter of being 100% sure thats what you want. Looking it over, altering it when you don't like it. Tattoos are not a whimsical matter.

@ Raphael * well my cobra is going to be natural, so grey and black, sand, and beige, some silvers. But my favorite colour for as long as I can remember has been purple. Maybe a nice Orchid colour instead of a light lavender?

I think that it's perfectly fine to get inked and pierced. It's your body and you'll have to live with it, so ultimately it's your choice. But don't overdo it.

I have just two sets of holes in my ears, but I'm thinking about getting a third set and gauging the bottom one. I have no tattoos as of yet, because my mother absolutely hates them, I had to wait til I was 18. So I can get one now, but I'm making sure to put a lot of thought into what to get and where to get it. It's gonna be on my body the rest of my life, so it better be good.

Now, my boyfriend on the other hand, has three holes in his left ear and six tattoos [soon to be seven]. His latest infatuation is a dragon, he wants a green dragon on his calf. So I asked him why and he said, "I dunno, I just want one." *headdesk* :headdesk:

A lot of people at my school had tattoos. I thought it was dumb because they all had them in the same spots and they all got the same things. I dislike them when people do it just because everyone else did it. Though I don't really agree with tattoos all that much I will admit some are nice. My friend got one on her wrist that says "Carpe diem" It means seize the day. If I were to get one I would want it to be really original and different. But I wouldn't want it to cause problem for a job or anything. Oh and the only piercing I like are ear but hey it's only an opinion.

oHso; The thing about it being original and different is that nothing is really original. It'd be hard to do that. There's always the possibility that someone else might have it or something like it already.

@Raphael - Hah. I think he's going to keep them out for awhile. xD
His wife actually delivered about a month ago.
Bad thing about piercings: As far as I know, children love to tug on them.

Something I remembered from reading oHso's post is that some senior at my school has a tattoo that Jack Sparrow has. o____O;

I'd love to see pictures. <3

I'm kind of happy I don't have a lip ring now 'cause my nephew would have ripped that right outta my mouth. D:
