Every other conversation with my dad includes a story.

When I want him to pick me up from school.:
"Why should I pick you up? You are too spoiled. When I was a young boy, I walked 20 blocks from my school to my house in knee high snow with holes in my shoes. You guys are not learning how to be tough in life.."

When I ask him to turn on the AC.:
"The A.C. is not a necessity. We don't even need it, it's just a waste of electricity. When I was in college in Puerto Rico, I was in a dorm room with one window and no A.C.. I'd sleep without a shirt and it felt like I still had a shirt on..."

When I am making breakfast.:
"Why don't you wait a few minutes and see if the egg moves when you shake it, that will tell you when you can flip it. See I learned all these tricks when I was a young boy..."

And so on.

Up for discussion:
-What are some stories that your parents tell you to make you feel bad?
-Parents in general.
-Random funny stories that happened to you.
-Cooking with parents.

My dad had 8 brothers and sisters so he always tells me and my sister how lucky we are cause we never had to fight for food at the dinner table XD

My mom does the A.C. thing too, except in the house, so it's super hot sometimes, good thing we're having a cooler summer.

That's about all I can think of at the moment.

one time my mother went outside to start a fire and she dumps some gasoline on it to get it going like my step dad tony used to . I was only 10 ish at the time and I shouted out

"mom stop that is too much your going to make a explosion or something. "

and of course she shrugs it off and keep going. once she is finished she sits in her chair and throws the match in then *woosh* the blaze knocks her off her chair. she had singed eyebrows for at least a week and I was laughing so hard I was crying . She has still yet to live it down . hehehe

8 brothers and sisters? Wows, that's crazy.
D'ahh, don't you hate when that happens (the AC thing). I mean why buy it if your not gonna use it =/ You're right though, the summer has been quite cool

@Illiam:
OMG! You should've recorded that! Ahh, that sounds soo funny at the moment. She should've listened to her 10 year old daughter. Although, having singed eyebrows would suck so bad.

@Akasha:
Lucky you. I get one every day. I got one for not wanting to leave the house one day. He was like
"Back in my day, you'd be happy to leave the house. I'd be at the park playing basketball or baseball. I'd be out hanging with my brothers and friends. I'd just go out to have fun. You guys need to get out more.."
but when I do want to leave the house he says
"I don't feel like it. Go do something else"
T-T
Oh, and he lectures not only, but my frieds at random times. They get mad haha

D'aww, stories from mothers are always interesting, hence why I only complained about my dad's stories. D=

They wouldn't be, huh? XD My dad's are interesting too, if hearing about the Texan desert is interesting.

My mom repeats stories over and over, even if you say, "Oh I remember that!"
It can get annoying. x)
She also tries to make me feel guilty whenever I don't hang out with her or something. -_-
That's the worst, it just pisses me off.

@Suko:
OMG! My dad does the same thing. He'll be like "You want to go to a baseball game" and I will be like "Nah, I don't really like baseball" and he will be all gloomy and say "it's just beacuse you don't wanna hang out with me. Fine, I'll go by myself'

Grr! Why can't he understand that baseball bores me D<

@Ziv- Omg, she does the same thing. x) Sometimes she's more subtle, but it drives me CRAZY.
She is also impossible to argue with. I'll forfeit a lot more fights with her 'cause she never sees herself as the wrong one. ><

On the baseball subject... x)

I was going to a baseball game in town (minor league I think?) with a friend and invited her and my dad. But she didn't want to go. So then when I got tickets for a major league game, I didn't think of inviting her.

She got all mad that I didn't invite her, and said she would have gone even though she didn't go to the minor league game. >< The rest of the week she would say cutting remarks to make me feel bad. Grr. x)

My mom used to talk about how my school year is always short, and then go on about snow days.

@Ziv- Hmmm, depends! Does he crossdress in his free time? With blonde wigs? xD

They must go to the same "How To Be A Parent" seminars.

My mom also happens to be lazy. She never wants to go anywhere, unless she HAS to. She likes to try and make me run her errands.

@Nymeria:
Ahh, really? heh, I never heard of parents complaining about the school year before :sweat:

@Suko:
I dunno. Sometimes he disappears for hours. Hmm, maybe they do attend the same seminars. -gasp- What if they read the same book! Oh no D=

OMG, my dad is the same. If the phone is right next to him, he'll call me from my room and tell me to give him the phone. It bothers me so much D=

@Ziv- Lol, they have the same parent books. x)

Hmmm, well, she doesn't disappear, she just sits at her computer all the time! D:
And she'll SCREAM at me if I'm in my room to just come out and grab something. -_-
Ticks me off! It's like, "Did you really have to scream?"
She also wakes me up really early in order to do stupid things. Like, once she did it and said she thought she was going to faint. Another time, she just wanted me to go with her to pick up a kitten.

@Suko:
We must burn those books!!

Aww, I want a kitten :3
but I hate when they do that. My dad made me get up and leave with him to my grandma's house to not go at all because my mom wasn't there anymore. He also promised me ice cream but said "it's too full" I was like "LIAR! D<"

@Ziv- Zerk! Lol.
We will definitely get ahold of those books.. and burn them!

Another thing that drives me nuts is go on diets and gets rid of all the good food, only to replace it with nasty food. We all suffer. ;w;

Oh my. With me its different. I try to go on a diet and then my dad yells at me because I don't want to eat certain foods. Like seriously, what's wrong with you. lol

@Ziv- It's not like I really hate dieting, I don't mind it. But she tries nasty stuff and never gets anything good to eat, healthy or not. x)
Like this one time she got only small, frozen meals. Never fills you up!

I can dress up like a ninja too! I'll sneak into her room and find where she's hiding that book!

@Ziv- I bet my dogs will give me away lol. They will whimper and whine and follow me. x)
Then I'll be busted!
She'll ask what I'm doing, and I'll come up with some lame excuse like, "Uh, uh, making your bed."

The squeaky door will blow my cover. I'd be like "Oh, uhm, I heard that the chupacabra comes at night and just wanted to make sure they didn't eat your toes. *looks at toes* well you're fine. All 10 toes present" xD
