That sounds like a Luna Moth. I've heard they're all over Japan, and quite beautiful, but I have this absurd and playful fear of moths. I had an epic battle with one in Canada, and it was the size of your palm with its wings outspread. I mean, this thing was like a wolf with wings, and I was completely stark naked in a shower in the middle of nowhere.
Totally vulnerable to attack.
