i dont think mere humans could think up something as amazing as a dragon all on their own. I mean, they may have discovered dinosaur bones and had no idea about the history of Earth, basing mythological creatures on the unknown. But the only reason most humans shun the idea of creatures like dragons is because most of us think that we are the superior species here and dont want to be wrong. :P

Yeah. There's groups like the Knights Templar and the Freemasons. Everyone thinks they're all into cult and sacrifices and stuff, but I've seen a branch for younger folk and there is no "ritual" involved, or not the way people explain it. Sure, they have secret meetings, but so does everyone else. ._. And there's absolutely no blood anywhere. xD

First of all, how they are able to fly.
Dragons have a distinct metabolism that produces large amounts of hydrogen. This hydrogen is stored in special lungs in the dragon's body. Having these large amounts of hydrogen in their bodies makes then quite a bit lighter, which allows the dragon to fly, while normally it would be far too heavy for flight.
This hydrogen serves another purpose as well. Fire breathing.
Back hundreds of thousands of years ago, there were many rich platinum deposits in many mountain ranges. Dragons would chew on the platinum so it would then coat the inside of their mouths with platinum powder. When hydrogen and platinum come in contact with each other, it produces a flame. So, by breathing hydrogen out of their special lungs, they can essentially breath fire. But of course, their fire breathe is limited to both the amount of platinum in their mouth and hydrogen in their lungs. If a dragon breathes too much fire, it won't be able to fly because it will have expelled too much hydrogen and would then be too heavy.

And that is what I know about the physics of dragons.
