Rar! You know, when you vent to someone, you're just venting not asking for advice. I had venting and then someone goes on and on and on with advice you didn't ask for, didn't need, and is obviously useless.

A different friend was complaining about the same situation the other day. In both cases, a friend who is much younger than us starts firing off their "expert" advice.

I was venting about my mom freaking out about a sell by date on some stuffed mushrooms. The sell by date was two days ago, but the mushrooms are perfectly fine. They're chicken and cornbread stuffed mushrooms (an odd combination, I know). And my friend starts going on about checking and smelling and blah blah blah and why would someone put those three ingredients together?

though that's a strange combination of ingrediants
the bread could mold, the chicken could be bad, the mushroom could be bad.

I find the best way to avoid that Cookie is to say up front that you just want to vent and that you don't want advice, :)

This particular friend is infamous for not having a clue. Most people would just listen, maybe offer a word in, but not this one. No, she's going to go on about it unasked because that's how she is. We all have a hard time with her and I've had some really blow up WW3 fights with her. So much that I often wonder, why are we still friends?
