It is in the future, life and technology has improved greatly, the science and technology compared to our standards now is just unimagineable. Though sadly in order to get all of this imporvements we have caused some serious damage to our earth and the delecate eco-system.

Our natural resources have depleated down to a trickle of oil, a few lumps of coal and precious little natural gas. The remaining fuels and substances shall only keep modern earth alive for a matter of months. The planet is slowly dying and now the human race is worried that it could be the end of them too.

Luckily for them a new planet was discovered just outside of our solar system, on the other side of the sun. It is possible to get to the uncharted planet and back before the earth runs out of resources but the thing is science has no time to inspect the planet. There is a strict schedule to maintain and a minor slip up could kill the world.

All we know of this planet is that it has life on the same scale as earth. We don't know about technology or about resources that the planet has. All we know is that it is the only known planet other than earth to have life simmilar to ours.

It is now up to the worlds top scientists, astronauts, engeneers and transporters to go on this possible suicide mission for the world. Do you accept this challenge?

Nicola's radio alarm went off and she sleepily stumbled out of bed. She ran her fingers through her hair and sleepily plodded towards the shower. She ran the water until it was reasonably warm and hopped in. She loved her morning showers, they really re-energized her! Though generally she needed one after work as more often than not she would get covered in oil and grease.

She hopped out and towelled herself dry, changing into her jeans and red tank top. Today was her day off and she was intending for some serious relaxation time, maybe a nice long walk with her dog, or maybe a trip to the mall, she wasn't sure yet.

She pulled her hair into her usual ponytail and applied her make-up at the mirror. Commanding her music to start playing as she went, singing along at full blast. After her morning preening was complete she padded out into her small and cluttered kitchen. She popped a poptart into the toaster and poured out her doggy kibel as she waited. Snoopy her dog happily came over and sniffed her hand happily before he dug into his breakfast.

She simled and then caught her poptart as it sprung from the toaster, expertly tossing it from hand to hand to stop ot burning. Poptarts were another must have, she loved them, couln't live without them. She took her first bite as the sweet starwberry goodness spread over her tongue like a firework. She smiled to herself. She was 24. Her life was perfect. She had her dream job, her own house, a lovely dog and a perfect guy. What could be better.

A loud electronic voice echoed through her apartment announcing mail was here. She went over to the mail screen and tapped it. A list came up with all her letters. A few bills, a postcard from her brother who was over in Japan and a letter from the Internation Space Federation. Her interest was peaked. What were they wanting with her?

She tapped it once and then read as she munched the rest of her poptart. She gasped as she got to the end. She quickly grabbed her coat and her keys and left her apartment. She needed to get to The ISF as soon as possible!

Ryan was already at the docking bay for the shuttle they were taking. He had been there for hours, he had no clue why they wanted him there so early. All he did was check and see if the guns were clean and sighted properly, he didn't even arm himself yet.

The only reason the government was sending Ryan was because he was the best in hostile environments. The astronomers who somehow discovered the planet think there may be some hostile life forms on the planet.

Kris leant against the wall of the International Space Federation Unit where he had arrived earlier this morning. He held a plate and a fork, taking bites of the pancake he had got from the kitchen where other workers had been. It was normal for him to be there, training always started early in the morning. They were forever doing tests for research constantly. However, today was different, he had been told there was big news. He could hardly sit still, so his legs carried him around the room the rest of the crew would arrive in. Kris was so excited and anxious that his pancake was gone in seconds, forceing itself unchewed down his throat. He could feel it in the atmosphere, something was changing.

Nicola rushed in through the front entrance and talked to a woman at a large whote desk. She brandished her letter and talked quickly, in hushed tones. This was mega. she had never been asked to do any engeneering here before, these people wer big time! For her to have a part in "This life changing event, that could cost the Earth" was an honour!

She smiled at the woman and jogged through to a back room. There were two others all ready in there, both men. Typical. They seemed nice enough though. She went in and sat down at a chair, she was tired allready, it was a long/walk/run over here!

Kris put down his plate and fork and hopped down off the table he was sat on at the side of the room. There were others in the room, but he particularly noticed the two there that looked almost as if they were waiting for something. They were easy to pick out as they weren't the ones that weren busy walking about holding papers in their hands. Kris knew that they would be here for the same thing as him. He decided to approach the closest person in a positive manner. It was a girl, and she looked slightly exhausted. "Hi there.. I'm Kris" he said politely extending his hand near her, getting her attention, to shake. "Have you been asked to meet here too?" he added with a smile.

Nicola looked round as someone approached her. They intorduced themselves as Kris. He was very striking, his eyes in particular. He extended his hand and Nicola happily shook it. Finnaly someone had noticed she walked in, most others here seemed a little preoccupied.

"Hiya Kris, cool name. I'm Nicola, but everyone calls me Nikki. Yeah they sent me a mail message this morning and i had to half jog half sprint over here so I am really tired now. Did they give you the mail too? Do you know why we are here?

Personality: Most of the time hes rather shy, he doesnt get out much. But on the inside hes a very nice and perky guy, if not a bit annoying at times.

Bio: Despite his age Basil was actually the scientist who first discovered the new planet, though he refuses to take credit for doing so because hes ashamed that he originally thought the planet was unlivable. This lead to a good deal of mockery in the papers when they found that it could actually be a new start for human life. So he recanted the discovery and let the man who discovered life there to take the glory. It also earned him the reputation of being a young naive little liar. So it was actually a step backwards for him. But thanks to the new technological advances, he was able to redeem himself slightly by making a detailed map to the planet and also of planets surface. So they wont be whizzing around the solar system blind any time soon. Going on this trip is a dream come true for him, he gets away from the mockery of earth while seeing the one thing he had devoted his life to that he had only seen from a telescope until now.

Ryan let out a load moan,"When the hell are we supposed to leave, I'm sick and tired of waiting."

"Soon enough..." Basil said to Ryan and ignoring the rest of the people from his little corner. He had been sitting there for three hours now, looking down at his computer and typing away. He was packed in there pretty tight too, looking more like a bundle of discarded scarves than and actual person.

"Theres currently a bit of a problem with the storm thats passing by here. Its not that big of a problem but because of the seriousness of this mission i think it would be our best interest to wait untill it passes. It shouldn't take all that long. Ten to thirty minuets at most. So sit down and wait, unless you want to blow up in the atmosphere of course," He said, not even looking up at him.

"I've been sitting and waiting since three in the morning, because the higher ups thought everyone would have been ready to go by then." Ryan stood up and stretched his legs.

Basil looked up at him then, tired eyes scanning over him sluggishly. It was difficult to see his face beneath his large woolly scarf but it was obvious he wasnt happy.
"And you've been just sitting here all that time? Why dont you do something constructive? Here," he said standing up and shoving his laptop into Ryan's arms, "Want to do my work? I'm trying to figure out how and when it will be safe to get onto the planet without being pulled down by its, or its moon's orbit so fast that he all burn up before we crash land on the surface. Because the higher ups want me to autopilot it into the system even though we have a skilled pilot who can land the ship herself just fine. And of course they didn't tell me this until this morning, so i have to put it into code before we take off so that the ships computer can actually read it. But if your so damn bored why dont you go ahead and do it?"

Ryan handed the computer back,"Listen I've been in the army since I was eighteen, I was always on the front lines. So I know nothing about computers."

Basil sighed and took the computer back from Ryan. Mumbling something to himself he flopped back down onto the floor with a lovely thump and reopened the file he had been viewing.
"I know. I wouldn't have let you try to do it anyway, its too complicated for most and i don't trust anyone else doing it. I was just ranting is all," He said after a moment, typing as he talked. He had no time to waist after all, "Im just stressed. I apologize for my rudeness"

Ryan walked over to the couple crates of weapons and started sorting through them, looking for the usual guns he used,"Do any of you know how to use a gun?"

Basil shook his head no, not bothering to look up and stop typing. He was a pacifist and a vegetarian. Killing and wielding a gun were an evil he was unwilling to partake in any circumstances.

"That's just great." Hiroku said sarcastically.

"Hey you slacker, if you want something to do how about you run around like the child you are." Said a booming female voice. And older woman pulled off her sun glasses and walked over to the one on the laptop, he seemed to be the smarter of the two. "Well Basil is it? How goes the plotting, since those higher ups don't trust me. Damn those idiots trying to make a fool of me." She muttered the last part as she looked around coldly taking in the situation. She seemed to be the highest ranked and oldest here, "how fun." She muttered before hearing the gun comment, "you monkey boy. State your name and position" she said knowing full well she had more power then this little whiner.
