So today I was randomly sitting with my mom and talking to her while she was on the computer checking her mails.

She had a new e-mail from some Nigerian company saying that she has been selected for a job in their company. There was an attachment along with the email so she started reading it.

The attachment was supposedly a "Contract Letter". Seems that it had been sent by the company itself. So she started reading it carefully and so did I. The funny part begins now..

She read through all of it and under the subtitle "Remuneration" it was mentioned that she would be paid a salary of $31,700 per month (which amounts to almost 1.5 million per month according to my country's currency). As soon as I read that I told her, "Mom, its fake"..

She typed the company's name on Google and there was a website called Anti-Fraud International or something..where a looot of people had posted the same letter along with the same attachment. Thank god my mom verified on Google, and didn't get deceived..

Here's the link to the website..

I've never been in a situation quite like that..
I've gotten plenty of bullcrap spam mails promising lots of money for little work and all of that.
But It's easy to catch on to them.. anything that sounds too good to be true.. usually is.

Thank god you were there with your mother, or she may have fallen for it.. :/

There is a program that you have to download..
It's in the Avatar Chat forums here.

The only thing is.. it doesn't have ALL of the items.. :/

Lol I love Nigerian Email scams! :'D Ah I wish I still had the link to this one website that followed a dude playing along to one of these emails. Like srsly the scammer went to incredibly great lengths to get money, along to sending voicemails, taking pictures with timestamps and everything. lullll

Roommate #6 was contacted by an agency that searches for scholarships that wanted $1000 payment that they said was already due, but she never signed up for their service. So she looked up the address, which was in California, and it didn't exist. So she called the phone number and the woman had a very heavy foreign accent, basically told my roommate to go screw herself and that she would find someone else to use her services.

She was promptly reported.

Well at least you helped her out on that one.
Good thing though. Never happened to me, but my family has a way of getting screwed over.

i've actually gotten plenty of e-mails like that. i usually delete them though. i delete them 'coz not only am i not looking for a job like that yet ( and the jobs they are supposedly offering aren't the jobs i've got in mind ), but i know that they've got to be frauds. i don't put my e-mail in job sites and stuff like that, or why else would they send me e-mails like that? how did they get my e-mail? etcccc.

hopefully i made sense ( bad english ). D: !

my mother got a text message saying she had won a million dollars once, but they needed all of her information. so she gave them every single piece of information, but then they said that she had to be in a certain place by the next day, which was not possible, because it was far away. now they stole her identity and are going on this huge shopping spree using her info, and they are breaking the law in her name. my grandma is trying to fix it, but my mom is freaked out. now every time a cop comes by, she panics, because she is afraid that they are coming to get her for something she didn't do. i feel bad for her, and i hate those jerks! they looked it up online and found out that the same thing has happened to a bunch of other people too. it's awful...
